The cabin was very cute and felt like home, however the beds were not comfortable, at all; and I don’t think I could’ve slept in them for an extended stay, but for the weekend it was manageable. The walk back to the house from the lake was straight up and hard for me to get up and down, and I am young and in good shape: not anyone could have made that walk. The area however is beautiful and close to the state park. I would stay again:
Property is as listed. TV would not connect to WiFi so no football Thanksgiving day or Christmas shows for grandkids. Hot tub blew its breaker first night and heat was up and down from 95 to 85. Location is great. Floor plan was good for 3 couples and 2 toddlers.

Cute Cottage
The cottage was just like the photos and a very nice location. Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The only thing that we found that could have been better was the blackened cobwebs that covered the ceiling fan blades needed to be cleaned. When traveling back to the area we would rent again.
Great 4-night Thanksgiving getaway with our adult kids & their partners. Perfect for 6-8 people, comfortable living space, great hot tub, and fire ring out back. Near multiple trails and Natural Bridge hike. Short 2-hour drive from Cincinnati. We will be back.
A group of friends gathered for a weekend getaway. It's so rare to find a body of water in the Gorge let alone a property w/a private dock! It was the perfect place to head to natural bridge for an afternoon of hiking and head back and hop in the lake to cool off and relax for a while before making dinner. We brought our Kayaks but didn't really use them as the lake was very small and didn't need that much adventure. More of a floating and fishing lake.
There were 5 of us in the house and it was a great amount of space- not too crowded and not too much space that we were still able to spend time together comfortably and easily. Nice back porch for morning coffee and the large hot tub was definitely utilized!
If your looking for quiet and secluded this is it. However, the overall cleanliness wasn't so good. We were afraid to turn the ceiling fans on because they were covered with dust. This place has 3 bedrooms, spacious BUT every mattress and box springs need to be replaced. We tried every bed and they were horrible. After 2 nights of no sleep or rest we left early. I contacted the management and told them why we were leaving early and they said they would contact the owners. The owners never reimbursed us nor did they contact us....highly disappointed.
The property was great and has everything you will need. It is in a great location in the middle of all the place's you will want to hike and eat. Mike and Leslie are absolutely outstanding! They really do answer the phone after hour's and are quick to resolve any issue's. If you are wondering if there is anything to do at the Gorge in the winter the answer is YES! I would highly recommend this property.

Lacking
We enjoyed our visit to the Red River Gorge area. The location was adequate. The cabin had a decent setup but was lacking on cleanliness. If I could have looked at it before staying I would have kept looking for a different place. The beds were all noisy and uncomfortable.
The stay was good. Price does seem a little high for what it was. Does need a little updating. It does make it seem like the lake is right out the back door but its not. You have to go down the hill. Leslie and Mike were amazing. They are what made the whole trip. Definitely will be going back.

Overpriced and Underkept
No email about check-in. We had to reach out to property owner and she said we should have received an email from a third party. No directions about where to check-in. We got a wife password but no directions about what network to use. We had to call the main office for clarification. No directions on how to start the jacuzzi. There was no power to the jacuzzi. We had to call the main office for directions on the jacuzzi. Lots of spider webs in the house. Also greeted by a wasp upstairs. The ceiling fans were caked with dust--a disgusting sight to behold. No hand towel in the main floor bathroom. Couches were old and uncomfortable. Master bedroom had no TV and no night stands on either side. Pillow case in master bedroom was soiled. No draped in the bedrooms so forget about sleeping in. Great location but place needs a ton of upkeep and the housekeeper should be fired.
The cabin was in a fantastic location, close to all the parks. The home was clean. Slept 7 of us comfortably.
The property stated the kitchen was fully stocked, it is not. You will need to bring trash bags, charcoal for charcoal grill, dish soap, the owner does provide dish soap but only 4 ounces, not enough for our party. Owner provides 1 pod for the dishwasher, you will need to bring more. There is no receptacle for the trash so a several mile ride is needed to drop the trash off at the main office where the check in is.
Extra laundry detergent if planning on doing laundry.
There are chairs for the fire but if you want a drink holder, it is best to bring your own. There were some outdoor patio chairs and a few very low beach chairs.
The Water Deer Lake is more like a big pond. It was nice to swim in and a very small community, the private dock is not sound and could use some reinforcement. The path on the way to the "lake" is very very steep and it is difficult to walk up, we are all healthy individuals and we were out of breath walking up. There is also poison ivy on the trail which should be cleared.
The drains in the bathrooms were clogged. We tried using Drano for the Master Bathroom sink but it did not work. The showers are very clogged.
The charcoal grill is not clean and the grates could be much cleaner.
The hot tub was great but the water was cloudy. I did reach out to the owner saying it was cloudy and owner responded house keeping fixed it with some chemicals but it never cleared up. The jets could use some cleaning as well, only one jet was strong.
There is no street sign for the road but there is a sign for Deer Water Lake, that is the development for the cabin.
Overall stay was great. The space is very nice for 3 people and we had plenty of room. Note, the check-in is not near the cabin which is on the way if you're coming from Lexington. We had an extended stay (for over a week) and they told us we could drive back down to get more dishwasher packets. I think an improvement would be to provide more packets for extended stays. In addition, you have to drive your garbage back down to the check in spot which is not close. Since I am paying a cleaning fee, I was not thrilled with this policy. We did have a problem with the heat not working and while they responded to the situation right away, they did not keep us updated. I had to reach out each day to find out the status of the furnace. I completely understand that it breaking on a Saturday, would not have service until Monday. They did provide us space heaters to help. Those kept the place warm but were hard to manage as it was often too hot in our rooms. Please note that they really need to change the hot tub cover which we communicated with them. We are hot tub owners and felt it was a safety hazard. It is old, very heavy and because the tub is such a tight fit you have to try and lift the entire thing one way onto the deck. We are climbers and in shape and we struggled. I imagine someone who is not in shape could have problems with it. Getting it back on is even harder. Overall, we loved the location and would stay again.
We came with our adult children (mid 20’s) and their partners. The house was great - very comfortable for 6-8 people. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit (inexpensive wood at the registration site) after some beautiful hikes. Pictures are accurate. Kitchen could use additional basics - glassware, silverware, plastic ware for sipping drinks in the hot tub. Overall excellent stay!
This cabin is just as described and shown in the photos. We enjoyed our stay here. Quiet, peaceful location with trees all around. Easy access to the area attractions. We only had a couple of small suggestions to make our stay even better: we were given only 1 key which made it difficult for various members to come and go. We suggest getting a coded keyless lock. Also, you could invest in some new frying pans for the kitchen as the ones there are way past their useful nonstick stage.
Check in and out was very easy. House was located centrally to the activities we had planned. There was also a fire pit and hot tub, which were bonuses! Would recommend!

Definitely not what we were expecting
Let me just put these in categories.
1. Soon as we arrived there was some sort of bbq food on the floor. The house reeked of cigarette smoke. Not smoke from the fire pit. This was a someone just smoked in the bathroom and it lingered out to the rest of the house.
2. There are no blinds or thick curtains on the windows. They have see through white curtains though. So if you like being up soon as the sun is up then this house is for you. If you don’t mind creepers watching you at night cause there are no blinds then again this is for you. So having a baby who doesn’t sleep during the night to then be up all day cause it’s too bright was no fun.
3. Was in the hot tub no more than 5 minutes before my toe cut open, and was bleeding like crazy. There was something chipped or broken on bottom of hot tub.
4. There were literal cockroaches in this place.
5. They have a list of things that you have to pay for if you do them. Which you don’t know about till you arrive. Like if you use a towel to wipe up mud or clean your pets or wipe your feet. You have to pay for them. If your dogs are on the furniture that can also cost. Yet when we arrived there was mud and hair all over the futon upstairs. I wasn’t about to get blamed for that.
6. There was a kids poopy underwear in the corner of the room. We definitely did not tip cleaning people because we were definitely not satisfied with their performance.
* now I spoke with the manager about this so hope it’s better for the next people. I couldn’t call them while we were there. Taking care of a tired and fussy infant entire time I was there I couldn’t call. Then we were also pretty much gone the entire time we were there till late. So couldn’t get things taken care of right away. Also doesn’t help my husband tossed the paper with the numbers lol. Even though I know they would have been more than willing to fix the issues while there.
All I have to say it is a cute house. It does have everything you would need in the kitchen.
Just be cautious of the rest. I’m sure they fixed everything we mentioned.
Cabin nice, has plenty of everything you need. Didn’t catch any fish though and tried for 3 days. Lake is really a pond, deep enough for swimming and playing around! Really need a better path with some log steps to dock and dock needs some work. Nail sticking out makes it really unsafe.
Nice large home for the five of us with 2 full and 1 - 1/2 bath . Large yard with fire pit . Outside deck with hot tub . Charcoal grill . A very steep path to pond through the woods to dock for fishing , cannot see lake from house . Beware of ticks -had 2 on me and some on our pet . Close to all the trails. Bed linens with stains in MBR, mouse droppings in drawers of kitchen - just washed things prior to using . No laundry detergent provided but plenty of paper products and dw tabs . Nicely stocked kitchen.- take your own spices ,s/p. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Great property, great location. Close to trails, Natural Bridge, ziplining, and kayaking activities. Overall very clean, good setup for a family trip. My only comment is there should be a receptacle for trash a bit closer than the office.
The house was clean when we arrived. The linen and towels smelled freshly washed. The location was in a great location to local to local attractions. There is a gate to keep out thur traffic. Very friendly staff. Would recommend.
