We were thoroughly impressed with the property, the host, and the beauty of the local area. I highly recommend to others and especially families looking for a good base to explore the Loire River valley castles and towns.
Gregoire was a wonderful host. The Castle was clean, and any small critiques are easily understood by living in a castle from 1520! The bathrooms are modern, the beds very comfortable. There is no Air Conditioning, and the days were very warm! There were fans, though, and the nights cooled down a bit. We would definitely stay there again! Thank you, Gregoire!
If you are planning to visit the Loire Valley you probably already know that it’s full a amazing Chateaux (a.k.a. Castles) to visit. The only thing that could make it better would be if you could stay in own personal, authentic 16th century castle, right? We’ll, thanks to the amazing Grégoire, we were able to do just that. Le Châtelet exceeded all of our expectations, and Grégoire was an incredible host and a great representative of the region and it’s cultural heritage. The home it’s self is the result of 15 years of restoration work by the host. It is also authentic in almost every way, from the furniture to the 500 year old tiles on the floor. The only upgrades to modernity were the beautiful bathrooms. The kitchen is small, as it was adapted to fit into the Renaissance period turret. But it was good enough to prepare small meals and the outdoor grill could handle the large amounts of meat. The boat trip in the moat and meals in the courtyard created amazing memories. You should be aware that it is a bit remote so trips to the store have to planned ahead. Also, keep in mind that it is an authentic 16th century castle. So, even though the host has made every effort to provide every comfort you cannot change the fact that it is 500 year old castle. But if you embrace the history and beauty of this place you will love your time here! We have family in the Loire Valley so we will definitely return to the Châtelet some day. Thank you Grégoire for the amazing memories!
Nous avons été très bien accueillies dans ce petit château atypique rénové avec soin.
Très bon séjour. Merci au propriétaire pour son attention, ses conseils, son amabilité.
A Spectacular Place to Stay while Visiting the Loire Valley
Le Chatele, a little chateau in Thilouze, is a magnificent place that is full of history and restoration details back to its origin. The location is spectacular. The surrounding is quiet and beautiful, in the middle of a golden field, yet very close to many points of interest, especially, all the chateaux in the area. This chateau is also a good relaxing and self contained vacation spot equipped with plenty of outdoor seating and BBQ area in the large and beautiful backyard. A small boat in the water surrounding the chateau is another feature that this place offers.
Gregoire, the host, is very nice, friendly, accommodating and attentive. The place is clean and has everything that allows for a comfortable stay.
