Great secluded getaway option.

Great way to descale the hustle and bustle. Gracious hosts. I’d recommend bringing water if you’re concerned about iron in the well water.

Clean Comfy Cabin

Stayed a week. Cabin was even nicer than looked in photos (nice surprise). Clean, comfy, homey, quiet, cozy. Loved daily walks on property/road: beautiful! Pretty sunrises from deck. Some iron in water, a little odor, but was fine, hair soft after washing it, water pressure in shower was strong. Drank bottled water...no problem. No stove, but a nice break from cooking: used m/w to make egg bites for bfast and toaster to make toast. Fridge was big enough for our needs with small freezer on top that fit some small frozen meals to m/w. We were pleasantly surprised with the internet (I was expecting to read more than I did), but it was fast and worked great, streamed 5-6 movies and 2 football games. Sandy communicated well all along (including detailed directions), and she and Stacey were helpful if you needed anything. Dirt road part of way, so you can't drive fast; we took it easy and enjoyed the views up and down the mountain. Only 20 mins to I-15/Clancy. Easy checkout: sheets/towels in trash bag to leave in cabin, bring trash bag down to garage. Recommend staying here.

Peaceful retreat

We stayed at this property in August and it was a perfect location to experience Montana. Cabin is off the beaten path and offers just the right amount of quiet and yet has everything you need. We could eat in or a short drive to Helena or Montana Citycouuld

Great Mountain Sleep

This was a great place for my mom who is 80, my sister and I both in our 50's to stay for an extended weekend while im Clancy for my daughters wedding at a near by wedding venue. The beds, even the futon, were extremely comfortable. The first morning of the stay i was able to enjoy morning coffee on the porch and see the local wildlife. The second morning I spent an hour or so hiking, mediating , and praying un the montain on the rocks. It was a giod respite from the hubbub of the wedding. I woukd love to come back when i have the time to retreat and explore .

Lovely cabin but water no good.

The cabin was lovely in all aspects, for me though, the iron in the water for showering etc, was a little offputting, so I left early and sought other accommodations. Im not sure if this is something normal with accommodations of this nature, but for me, it made me uncomfortable as to what it may be doing for my health.

Wonderful Honeymoon

The Chocolat Moose was just the place we were looking for. Far enough out of the way to feel secluded in the mountains, but with easy access to all the Helena area activities. The cabin was clean and cozy, and felt rustic without lacking any amenities. The space was very private, but there was help available for any needs or questions we had. Sandy and Stacie are wonderful guides to the area and very gracious hosts. Overall it was the perfect stay, would recommend and hope.i can visit again!

Lovely cabin on top of a mountain

The one of two cabins available I stayed in for 2 nites was just great; it had everything I needed and was quiet peaceful secluded. Sandy and Stacey are interesting people with good stories to tell and their dogs Juliette, Daisy and Lillie Rose got along fine w my dog and added a homie feel to their ranch at the end of the road up the mountain. The mowed paths thru fields all around the ranch or the dirt road in and out were good for shorter hikes but longer hikes would require a car ride down the mountain. The library with framed posters of of The Duke and Clint Eastwood added to the ambiance. The 5 miles from paved road to the ranch/cabins was dirt and a bit interesting but slow and easy worked five for my Nissan Murano. The tv could get all one needed. I already want to return and stay longer. I loved the effort and time and love that is evident Sandy put into building and maintaining her quasi B & B, AKA Chocolate Moose Ranch. Sweet smaller cabin in the mountains

We had a girls weekend at this one bedroom cabin. I brought an air mattress for the floor and it was very comfy. I do not suggest more than 4 people. It is rural and 4 wheel drive is recommended. There are 3 other cabins nearby, so while it's rural, you are not by yourself. Easy access to Helena and the Hot Springs in Boulder and Helena.

A resting place to renew your Soul

Exceed expectation, peaceful paradise in true Montana fashion, the cabin was perfectly decorated,, clean,, modern in fixtues and convienances, cozy wood stove, firewood always ready,, well kept surroundings, trails, supplied all my needs and more. No cell service but if you have wifi calling its not a problem. TV, fast internet, fun activities or a stand alone library/cigar cave overlooking the pond with leather seating to snuggle in with a great collection of reading material...I wanted for nothing, Thank you Sandy and Stacy for a wonderful experiences and the friendship especially. A shout out to my well behaved furry friends as well. Good Dogs all of them! Lesly

Heaven

This place was the prefect quiet get away. If you like dogs then you will certainly love the ones that greeted us, and never stopped putting smiles on our faces. This place is off road so be aware of that, but for us it was another reason we loved it. It was also the only place I can ever remember my wife stating "we are coming back here!"

Beautiful location and very friendly and helpful host. Thanks!

Beautiful location and very friendly and helpful host. Recommend a somewhat-high-clearance vehicle to get to the property. Could probably do it in a car, but would be pretty slow going. Toyota Rav4 we rented did just fine.

I'm a French girl who always wanted to live in Montana. I left France in 1998 to Los Angeles and after learning English moved to Montana in 2006. Found my dream place in 2007 and after 4 years of renovation could finally welcome and share my dream with my guests.

Why they chose this property

I love the seclusion, the contact with the nature. Seeing a bear, a wolf or a heard of elk is always a special moment in my life....

What makes this property unique

Seclusion but only 15 mn drive to the first restaurant and only 30 mn drive to the state capital.
Lot of widlife, hiking opportunities, stunning setting and more !!!
