Region: Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.
Town: The former farming hamlet of Whitridge is situated close to Scots Gap village, offering both a village shop and fantastic country store. Only five miles away from the National Trust property of Wallington Hall - with its associated gift shops, tea rooms and farm shop selling local produce - this lovely little settlement is surrounded by views of the Rothley Craggs. Rothley Folly, another National Trust property is nearby and can be seen from the hamlet. Other historic attractions include the village of Meldon and its thirteenth century church. At only five miles away, this is great place to walk to along pretty country lanes. Morpeth is only ten miles away and is set along the course of the River Wansbeck, offering various pubs, restaurants and shops.
