lots of time on that porch. Picked place based on that picture in the listing and did not disappoint. Water just rises up to you - especially dramatic at night with the high tide. Nicely in shade most of the day yet you can get to sun quickly if desired. Kayak access a nice add. Owner easy to contact and helped fairly thru a minor issues.
Two summers ago my wife was diagnosed with ALS and so we wanted to find a place that could be on her bucket list -- she adored being as close to open water as possible. I found Evergreen Cottage online and we crossed our fingers hoping it would be anything like the photos on VRBO. It was even better -- the water view from the screened porch is too wide to fit into a camera. 180 degrees of an arm of Casco Bay and the channels between the islands. Lobster boats and ferries pass by all day. The cottage sits on a rock ledge above the water and at high tide the water comes up a few feet from the house. She loved it and my whole family enjoyed the house so much that we came back this week, months after she passed, to experience it again. The hosts did all they could to make our stay terrific. Anyone looking for a serene escape near the water, pines and rocky coast should consider this cottage.

I’d like to give a terrible review to keep others from discovering this incredible holiday spot. My 2 brothers and three spouses stayed for the weekend and had a great time. The cottage is located on a point overlooking the bay with unbelievable views. Kitchen and house well stocked with needed items. Owner, Eric called and gave us tips about the island and checked in with us after we arrived. There is not enough great things to say about the property or the owner, we truly had one of the best reunion weekends we’ve ever had. And all of us came away completely relaxed trying to figure out when we can get back. Thank you Eric!
The cottage has a Victorian feel to it, charming and surprisingly spacious, comfortably appointed with a minimalist, Shaker-like aesthetic. We spent a lot of time on the wide, screened porch, enjoying what has to be one of the very best views of Maine coast, with lobster boats bobbing in the waves while they pull their traps, ferries passing like clockwork on their way to and from the out-islands of the Casco Bay archipelago, and everything from kayaks to speedboats to old wooden yawls and sloops and ketches plying the waters of Diamond Pass. We enjoyed the sound of the waves at night as the tide rolled over the rocks just below, and ate breakfast on the porch, watching seabirds come and go - - ducks, cormorants, and gulls - - and a migrating warbler alighting on the bushes that fringe the property. Bring your binoculars, and you can also spot harbor seals and an occasional dolphin. Eric, the owner, gave us helpful hints before our arrival, and was responsive to our messages, and his brother Scott, who has a cottage next door, was welcoming and solicitous during our stay, checking in from time to time to make sure we had what we needed, and putting the kayaks out for us. We had a great time exploring the island, too - - crisscrossing the back roads and hiking trails and walking the ~5-mile loop road that mostly hugs the shore. We enjoyed exploring the WWII-era coastal batteries that once protected Casco Bay and Portland harbor, which was strategically important (we were told) as a repair and refueling station for the North Atlantic fleet. There's a trail from the loop road that threads through a salt marsh on a makeshift boardwalk; the rushes tower overhead for a few minutes until you reach the clearing that's visible from the road, where the massive concrete pillboxes rise up from the marshland; they're interconnected with tunnels, covered in vines and splashed with colorful graffiti. It's a weird and wonderful spot, another time warp on an island that's charmingly full of them. All in all, a lovely place with great hosts, and we hope to be back before too long.
Amazing views of Casco bay. I’ve stayed in a lot of cottages on peaks (+10) and I have to say this was my favorite view. Cottage is adorable and very clean. We had a wonderful week.
Our family had a great stay on Peaks Island! The view and porch are incredible. The small beach near the house was loved by all, especially the kids. The house listing is accurate.
We loved our stay. Best views on the island - LOVE the boat traffic along the diamond passage. Plenty of sleeping space, porch space and dining space. Kitchen is well equipped. THANK YOU
We had a great time at this lovely little home on peaks! Location right on the water was awesome. Access to private beach perfect for crab and sea glass hunting. Eric was responsive and accommodating. Neighbors were friendly. House was chilly but that’s what late October brings in Maine! Would highly recommend!
The house has spectacular views and right on the water. If you want a true island experience, I highly recommend it. The house has charm and appeal. Communication from the host could have been a little better. A quick reminder on having to rent linens and towels as well as the schedule of when grocery store and food options open and close on the island would be helpful for future guests. The local linen service was great and prompt. The local cabbie Patty was a true delight and gave us the scoop on all things Peaks Island…again I highly recommend this property!
This is the perfect cottage. Awesome view. Not fancy. Comfortable. 35 minute walk to the ferry. We got linens from Diane which was super easy. Four high school buddies class of 82 had a most wonderful time. We would love to come back.
The cottage is beautiful with magnificent views from every corner of the property. It is cozy comfortable and charming. The bedrooms have great mattresses, the decor is adorable, the kitchen was perfect for dining in and the porch was a slice of heaven for am coffee and pm cocktails.
We loved everything about this sweet house and perfect location. Hope to come back sometime in warmer weather.

have not stayed here yet was told this could be changes to 2022 trip
We are still hoping to see something from Eric that they have granted our request to move our stay from this year to next year at or around the same time. Because someone in our party was sick. we talked to him once and we under the impression he would change the date and allow us to come in 2022. However, we have not seen or heard anything to confirm this since our first conversation with him.
Spent a week with family. The cottage was very comfortable. Eric’s brother Scott was very helpful. It was nice to have someone near to help with any questions or issues.
My family and I just had the best week at this classic old Peaks cottage. The screened in porch, the view and the access to the private beach all made the week!! We can’t wait to come back.
Our family very much enjoyed this cottage by the sea and would love to rerun someday! Eric could not have been better at communicating with us and making sure we were taken care of. The beds were comfortable, the views were THE BEST!
Fantastic location, charming house, and the deck feels like you're inside a postcard. The owner is friendly, responsive, and helpful. Would definitely book again.
My family of 5 had a great stay in this Oceanside cottage. The views from the porch were outstanding. There was plenty of space for all of us and the proximity to the beach was great. Would definitely recommend.
Celebrating 68, 57, 54, 51 & 30. Perfect time of year. Very little hustle and bustle and gorgeous weather. Chilly sleeping weather but cozy with blankets.
This location is a little gem located right on the water. It was beautiful sitting on the porch watching the boats go by. Inside is cozy and homey. The house has a dollhouse feel to it. You have to watch your head while upstairs which was fine. We found the best bedroom was located on the top of the stairs. It has 3 windows that overlook the water and the lighting was perfect. Highly recommend bringing your own bikes to bike around the island. The views were spectacular!
What a wonderful place to unplug and getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed every inch of the charming cottage from the squeaks in the steps to the family pieces. Above all, the porch, the view; pure heaven!
