Amazing cabin close to lifts, brewery, dining, hiking and biking.
You will love this quiet cabin surrounded by mature hemlock and spruce trees. It’s a great base to explore all that this part of Alaska has to offer. Only 1/2 mile to Alyeska ski resort. Tons of hiking and biking nearby. A short drive will take you to Anchorage, Turnagain Arm, Whittier, or Portage Glacier. Seward is close enough for a day trip for a fishing charter, a wildlife cruise, or a hike at Exit Glacier. After each day’s adventures, come home to this warm and inviting space. Hop into the steam shower to help you unwind, or pour a glass of wine to enjoy in the sunroom. On warmer days, open all the windows and from any room you can enjoy the pleasant babbling from the small creek that runs through the property. Our young boys have spent hours playing in the creek during the summer months – your kids or grandkids will too. On colder days, the furnace will keep the cabin warm, but nothing compares to the all embracing warmth of a wood stove.

We spent Thanksgiving time here with our family. There were six adults and 2 teens. We went out for Thanksgiving dinner but did cook other meals at the house. This home is nice with three levels and a bedroom on each level. We had trouble with the dish washer and the owner texted us right away and we fixed the problem. It was a very peaceful time here . Some of the family went cross country skiing. We used the wool stove which made it quite cozy. We enjoyed our stay here.
This is a beautiful house in a wooded, peaceful neighborhood of Girdwood. The house has a deck with views and sounds of the nearby stream. The house was well stocked with all the essentials and more that were needed for our ten day stay. Highly recommended.
Great place, loved all the extras. Nice that each living space/ bedrooms had bathrooms. Kitchen had so much, nice to have options. Only thing that we would change is the bed comforters more updated. And maybe some wine glasses. 😊 host very responsive. The kitchen table / bench was our favorite hang out. Loved the boot drying set up in ski/snowboard area. Lots of nice little touches that made it feel homey. Perfect place for our little stay. Would do it again!
A group of us girls that work at the hospital stayed here as a weekend getaway. The location was great, the layout was perfect for the number of ladies we had and we felt very safe and secure. The only thing I would comment on is that the dumpster was full from prior stays which made it difficult to place our garbage in there while cleaning up, but overall it was a great experience!
This was a great place to stay. Very clean and comfortable.
This was my first time staying at a VRBO so I had a few questions at different times and owners were quick to respond in a timely manor. Loved the creek right in front of the property. It is a little small, but it was exactly as advertised.
Our family traveled from all over the US to meet in Alaska for our parent's 60th anniversary. They loved the home and chose the main level bedroom with adjacent full bath & steam shower (which they said made them feel pampered). This was one of 3 homes we rented & my husband & I stayed here as well on the upper level with other family members coming and going and some staying at various times in the bunk room on the lower level.
Great location with easy access to the cute town of Girdwood with it's cute shops and The Grind coffee shop which we frequented. It's easy enough to walk to and takes about 10-15 minutes to do so. You can also chose a longer walk up to the Alyeska resort where there are more gorgeous views and another coffee shop (do you see a theme here? ;-).
This place had everything we needed, super responsive hosts and the most peaceful setting with a bubbling brook right right alongside. We spent quite a bit of time just sitting on the deck enjoying that sound and the forest that snugged right up to the house.
There were lots of items left by other guests (and perhaps some by the hosts) such as spices, honey, tea, etc. You may want to check the supply before you decide to buy anything of a non-perishable nature as it may already be there.
Crow Creek Mercantile is a quaint general store in Girdwood where you can surprisingly get a lot of items that I hadn't anticipated finding. My Dad's favorite Oregon Chai mix for example.
We'd definitely stay here again and are already talking about our next trip.
Good location, walkable to resort and downtown. Lovely lot with a creek running through it. Home had everything you'll need, but a bit dated and could use a good cleaning. Steam shower was nice.
Our stay was fantastic as the home was easily accessible and spacious and central to several sites that we visited. We appreciated the communication before our stay and upon check-in. Highly recommend and hope to be back again.
The home is a three bedroom, but sleeps ten people comfortably. It is well stocked and well maintained. Close to many hiking trails and kayaking in Prince William Sound My only negative would be that the oven needed cleaning, but it did not bother us since we didn't use it. Communication with the owner was easy and helpful. A bonus if you go in August is that the backyard is full of blueberries. I would definitely would come back to stay at the house again.
My family and I stayed here to attend a wedding at Alyeska resort. Great location, just 5 minutes from the resort. The house was clean, and comfortable. My family of 5 adults had plenty of room. Would not hesitate to book again.
Nine of us stayed here for four nights and we loved the property. There was plenty of space to spread out. We cooked several meals and had everything we needed. Many of us enjoyed sitting out on the deck, listening to the trickle of the stream. This house in the woods is so beautiful that it was hard to leave. Check in and check out directions were standard and simple for us. We would recommend this home to other large groups.
The house is beautiful and the description of the property is very accurate.
Being from Kansas we were so taken with the scenery.. it is unusual for us to be nestled in the mountains.
This is a well-kept house situated right in Girdwood near the ski area, plenty of restaurants and trails. The house was very comfortable and had plenty of room for our family, in fact 2 families with kids could easily fit. There are tree views out of most of the windows which feels cozy and cabin-like.
There is no shower in the master bath upstairs but there is a sauna shower on the main floor. Our only downer was that there was a list of chores to complete before checkout (place towels in washer and start a load, make sure fireplace is swept clean, etc, etc). Not a big deal but we already felt the cleaning fee was high and anything extra can be tough when you are trying to get kids packed and out the door.
This location was great. Central to everything in Girdwood - and close to Whittier as well. Very clean! We stayed during the fall, but this would also be a great location for ski season.
We enjoyed our group trip with small kids! We brought bikes and biked around a lot. We did encounter 3 different bears while there so be bear aware and don’t put your trash out!
Fantastic Property! Perfect Location! Extremely Well Kept!
This was my first time using VRBO, and the experience was perfect. From the the moment I booked the property, Chris and Becky were excellent hosts. Very thorough when asked about the property. Also, very helpful with pre arrival information since our trip was in the middle of a Pandemic. Once we arrived at the property, we found everything was exactly as described! Had a fantastic time, and already planning to stay here again in the winter time as the location to the resort is minutes away. Thanks again! -Will
On June 28th, we arrived in Anchorage (from the Space Coast of Florida) in order to visit my brother whom is stationed with the Army. We found this beautiful home after searching several locations near by. The owner was very knowledgeable about some things to do around the property such as trails, the wildlife conservation and the old mining town. A lot of what there is to do in the area is only a short car ride from the cabin. The views from the trip to the cabin are breathtaking. The home was warm, very cozy and beautiful all around. You will love the sauna shower on the first floor. The wrap around windows on the first floor showed a wonderful view of the property. I suggest opening the rolling windows as there is a creek that runs through the property and the sounds of nature make you feel as if you are out in the open air.The home had many accommodations for sleeping quarters for our medium size group of seven. My son loved going on walks around the neighborhood(don't forget the bear spray) and playing at the park down the road from the cabin. There is a small grocery store near by as Anchorage is about an hour drive. The neighbors were very friendly and even helped us when we encountered our first bear of the trip. FYI make sure to secure the trash can because he definitely got some goodies during our stay. Some things I would like to suggest would be Beluga Point as you drive into Anchorage, the quaint mining town in the mountains, Portage Glacier boat tours, trails near the Aleyska Resort, and there is also a beautiful waterfall only a five minute car ride from the cabin as well. There is so much to see and we tried to experience everything but unfortunately time was limited. We hope to one day travel back to Alaska and if the cabin is available we will definitely try to stay again.

About the host

We have lived in Anchorage for almost a decade and quickly fell in love with visiting Girdwood for the skiing (alpine and Nordic) and sledding in winter, hiking and mountain biking in the summer. We feel fortunate to have this amazing cabin within walking distance of the lifts at Alyeska. We stay here often, and are happy to share the space with others when we are not here.
Why they chose this property
We loved this cabin from the first time we saw it. We loved the feel of the great room, with large windows looking out on mature trees. The small stream that runs along the front of the cabin, under the driveway then down the property is a great addition. On warm summer days, open the windows and listen to the creek. Our young boys also love to play in it.
What makes this property unique
It's only a half mile to the Day Lodge at Alyeska, a world class ski resort. In the summer the resort offers mountain biking, and the area has an almost infinite amount of amazing hiking trails.
