About this property

Charming Casa Rio on the Johnson Fork of the Llano River

Perhaps you are old enough to remember the good old western movies with the ruggedly beautiful, gently rolling Texas type scenery in the background of the cattle drive or the weary rider heading off into the sunset. Escondido Ranch, located in south central Texas is exactly like that Hollywood version of the Old West, complete with mesquite brush, hills and wooded areas, and the low canyons perfect for those early morning sunrise or late evening sunset opportunities.

For mid-day relaxation, you can lounge on the outside patio or swim in the river.

In addition to the first class accommodations there is also the option to catch and release fish on over 2 miles of a spring fed river that runs through the property. This riverbed also provides excellent viewing of wild hogs, Rio Grande Turkey, Whitetails, and various other exotics. Being at this Texas ranch is breathtaking as well as relaxing and rejuvenating. It is almost impossible to imagine you are just a few miles of the beaten path as it is quiet, serene and beautiful.

This is a great location for families or several couples that just want to getaway.

Great Place to Stay

Heather and her team did a great job of preparing for us. We had a slight change in our reservation and she was able to accommodate the request. It was a wonderful stay with a great view! Would recommend to anyone.

Good river property

The house looks brand new. It is decorated well, clean and well appointed. The back side is all windows and porch overlooking the river. The highlight was a large antlered deer that came to the porch to look in on us. Despite the drought, the river had a wide swimmable area. There was a long stretch of property on the river front.

Quiet Weekend

We had a nice quiet weekend on the ranch. We enjoyed the river that is a small walk from the house. The house was clean and stocked properly. The only negative were the beds were hard. Everything else was on point.

Great family vacation

Three generations enjoyed this comfortable and well stocked house. We played at the river, took long walks, relaxed on beautiful porch, looked for fire-flies at dusk, and saw the milky way. Beautiful night sky.

Unplug and unwind

Escondido Ranch really is the ridden ranch, nestled away in the Texas hills near a beautiful spring fed river. This was the perfect place to unplug from our nonstop phone use and enjoy the company of good friends surrounded but nature. The river was amazing and house beautiful and very clean. There is honestly nothing negative I can say about our stay at this ranch. Also the host was awesome especially when we all got lost on our way to the house! She was even kind enough to show us to her favorite swimming holes on the river. Side note for people who can't unplug from the phone, this location has VERY poor cell service.

Great secluded getaway for family & friends

We had a fantastic time at Casa Rio on Escondido Ranch. We were looking for a nice secluded property to visit and relax with family visiting, but really wanted to avoid crowds. This place was perfect. The owners were very kind and responsive and got us what we needed. The ranch foreman, Austin, was VERY helpful. Even giving us his sunscreen when we forgot ours. He checked on us and made sure we had all we needed and were enjoying ourselves. Everyone was willing to answer my questions, and Austin was prompt to answer my call when we were on our way and got a little lost. The house was a great size, clean, and very well stocked. We had everything we needed to make our meals at the house. The kitchen is so big and has everything there. We loved waking up and having coffee on the back porch and watching for deer. We really enjoyed seeing them pass by. During the day, there is a great swimming hole nearby for cooling off. We had a great time laying around in the water and swimming. At night, the house is so comfy and great for relaxing on the porch or staying cool inside on the couches. They've done a great job with the property and we would definitely come back. It was great to get out of town and see a new place!
