Not sure where to begin! The house is absolutely fabulous: vast rooms, very comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and fabulous garden with pool. It was just perfect for our family group with lots of space. The pictures in the listing don’t do it justice. Beautiful traditional French house in the centre of Saint Jean, a village we know well and love. Great central location with easy access to larger towns and the coast. Highly recommended!

Never again. Dirt and Ants!
The house is large and is in a good location. The terrace has lovely views. But don't stay here unless you want a very grubby house, with bathrooms uncleaned, a grubby kitchen and the rest of the house full of dust and cobwebs. Think Miss Havisham with bells on! Garden was a complete mess and infested with ants. In fact we had constant outbreaks of ants in kitchen cupboards, bathrooms even in beds! The owner offered us 100 euros which frankly wasn't enough and communicated with us through her neighbors who tried to improve things a little. But there was such a mammoth task of cleaning that it was never going to be enough. Pool is tiny and because of all garden debris very hard to keep clean even with cover in place. Find somewhere clean where the owners maintain their property properly so that you can enjoy your holiday.

Fabulous holiday
We all had a wonderful time in this lovely old French house. It was so spacious, there was plenty of room for 3 boys, two teenagers and four adults. The pool was a godsend as it was so hot, we spent most of the time just splashing about. We did manage to go out and about, some charming places to visit and not too far from the beach. The lakes were very popular, such beautiful scenery. Caroline, Cheryl and Mwona were absolutely amazing, so helpful and friendly. We would thoroughly recommend this house, thank you Caroline for letting us stay.

About the host
Hosted by Mrs Caroline Oreilly
We have had a holiday home in France for over 25 years,. We bought this property last year. We love the area and being in a working village. We are hoping to spend more time in France as I am a semi- retired teacher trainer and my husband is a practising psycho therapist. Most of the year we live in Brighton. We have a grown up family
Why they chose this property
This is a lovely house for a family with the two outside area ; the secluded walled garden with the pool and the large terrace on the top floor with the view of the mountains. We are lucky to have 4 double bedrooms and the very large bedroom at the top of the house. This is a very old house and we have tried to retain its character. We think it is comfortable and suitable for families because of the size of the bedrooms. It is not a luxury style villa property! .
What makes this property unique
The location of the property is ideal. 5 minutes away is a lake which caters for all ages and tastes. The beautiful town of Ceret, famed for its Saturday market, is ten minutes' drive. St Jean Pla De Corts has all the amenities of a working village including a restaurant and bar, is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is very accessible to the sea, the mountains and the Spanish border (accessed by the nearby A9 motorway). This area boasts 300 days of sunshine per year and there are frequent festivals and cultural events including the Cherry Festival in May and 'La Corrida' in July
