About this property

Snells Beach Getaway

Snells beach is just an hour north of Auckland. It has a protected safe beach perfect for children to play, or maybe to try your hand at water sports.
Spend your holiday exploring the local regional parks and beaches, snorkelling at Goat Island, take a day trip to Kawau Island, surfing at Omaha Beach, playing golf or kayaking the scenic bay.
Alternatively, sample some of the local produce at the Matakana markets, follow the arts and crafts trail, or why not stop for lunch and a tasting session at one of the many local boutique wineries and cafes.
Sheepworld, with its famous pink sheep is just a few kms up the road. Matakana cinema with its rose covered ceiling is a 5 minute drive away, or stay in and play our selection of popular board games.
The house has plenty of off-street parking, plus space for a boat - the area is a popular fishing spot. The garden has a flat lawn area plus a large north facing deck accessible from the lounge.

Snells beach stay
House was clean and tidy when we arrived, great spot close to a lot of beaches and has heaps of beds and space to cater for our group. Owner was easy to communicate with, highly recommend.

All you need
This is a comfy and well located place with everything you need for a good stay. We enjoyed playing pool, heat pump made it cosy and it’s close to everything, including local beach and beach walk. Recommended for a reasonably priced comfy stay.

Overall nice stay, very homely feel... location is great to beach and shops, bonus game room and Netflix was a hit with the kids.. Only a bit of feedback- On the first night we stayed we cooked, after cooking we went to load the dishwasher but it was already stacked with dirty dishes therefore once the dishwasher was open we ended up having to deal with the smell throughout the house for a few hours. Also the Beds need to be put together properly, any movement on the double bed I thought I was going to end up on the floor lol, the double and single bunk also needs to be tightened as it has movement whixh can be unsafe with someone sleeping up the top :). And lastly on the list printed up in the kitchen it states on departure to turn off water mains- we weren't comfortable doing this sorry.

Short break away
Good Bach- tidy and the games room is an added bonus where you can play pool, darts and football table game. Kitchen has lots of utensils- bring own coffee. There are movies and board games in main house too. Very close to snells beach and the shops and we drove from there for five mins to places like scrandretts, Martin’s bay and Scotts landing. A slightly longer ten min drive to the sandspit yacht club for dinner and a 15 min drive to matakana markets. Handy central spot. Place has a peak of sea. Tidy and clean. Highly recommend for location.

This property needs a bloody good clean. Under the couches and beds is disgusting. The fronts of all cupboards need to be wiped properly there were greasy marks everywhere. In this age of covid the place should be hygienic. The gas bottle only had enough gas for 1 bbq and we had to get a new bottle at a cost. Not good enough. The freezer was full of old bait and stunk and it is filthy. I am not one to complain but this was not good enough for the hard earned money we paid to stay there.

Perfect for our needs
This was a great place for a group of friends to stay for a few nights together. Walking distance to water and shops. Bonus having the small games room and several outdoor areas to sit and enjoy each other's company.

Perfect Bach for summer holiday

Although we had stayed there before (when it was just 2 adults and 2 kids) we were slightly disappointed with this stay, the house really isn't big enough for 8 (we had 4 adults and 4 kids) yet there was no comparable discount for this number (i.e. cost us the same to stay each time). Also the gas bottle ran out on Saturday night - seems like a basic to check gas levels as unfair for us to have to pay $30 to top up when we only used once.
