Beach-handy bach at Mahanga

A simple but comfortable bach, that provides all the basics necessary for a family beach holiday. Spacious living areas, comfortable beds, and two large decks that maximize the sun and offer different views. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom /laundry area are accessed by an external staircase. Only a 50 metre stroll to the magnificent sweeping stretches of Mahanga beach and reserve, and a 10 minute drive away from the Mahia beach and store. The beach is family friendly with safe swimming, great waves for boogie boarding and surfing, and plenty of beach space for fishing and shellfish gathering.

Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$100.00 per stay); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);

Great family holiday spot

We had a great Easter stay at the bach, had a mix of weather so the dvd selection was awesome for a very rainy day. Short walk to beach and great decks to enjoy the sunny days!

Fabulous stay!

My partner, two year old and I stayed here for two weeks and really enjoyed our stay. Two storey bach. Main living upstairs with two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and large open living area. Downstairs is large bunk room (would be great for teens!), a bedroom, laundry and bathroom. No stairs inside which actually suited us as we didn't have to worry with our young one so only access between levels (as far as I'm aware) is via balcony stairs outside. Great outdoor entertainment areas. Clean, tidy and easy communication with owner. 10/10 !

What a great bach! Well equipped with kitchen equipment, great BBQ and wifi. Good instructions from hosts. Location is fab, just a short stroll to the beach.

We had an amazing time at Mahanga Sands, a great space and place for the family.

We had an amazing time at Mahanga Sands, a great space and place for the family. Also, as advertised, the two decks were great for following/hiding from the wind and sun...perfect! We really enjoyed being so close to the beach providing the opportunity for evening strolls and, cruising down to the beach then shooting back to bach for lunch then back to the beach in a flash. Mahanga itself was a great place as well, so many other beaches and attractions close by to explore and enjoy as well!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mahanga Sands. Nice and close to the beach and the two separate decks meant that you could chase or avoid the sun. There was plenty of space and the lounge/kitchen was lovely and airy with views to the sea. We would definitely like to return.

Generally the batch is ok.

Generally the batch is ok. The living space is fine. For the money I expected more. Cockroaches, one mouse, pour shower, and oven. Paid for a cleaner but not quite there in evidence. There are other small things but I'm not trying to destroy the place.

This bach is simply not up to standard.

This bach is simply not up to standard. The kitchen, bathroom and toilet facilities are woefully inadequate and in desperate need of modernisation. Also you have to bring your own bed linen and towels and you have to pay an additional $60 cleaning fee - surely this should be covered by the rental cost. Expected a spotless bach but not so. In fact, we left one day early because we did not appreciate sharing our accommodation with cockroaches! This property does not even get 1 star in our opinion.

The beach at Mahanga is an absolute delight.

The beach at Mahanga is an absolute delight. Good swimming, and good for going on long walks. We loved the quiet and tranquility of the place. It is somewhat remote but still within easy driving distance of dairy and cellphone range. The bach has great decks with a good bbq. Basic, no frills, but clean and comfortable.

This bach has great decks, a good bbq and is only about a two minute walk to the beach. The living area is quite generous so there's plenty of space. The bach has a really nice rural outlook. The sea is slightly visible from certain parts of the deck and lounge. Mahanga really is a lovely beach and it's only a ten minute drive to Mahia for something different. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this bach to others.
