Situated 1 hour from Richmond, Blenheim and Murchison. Short drive to local ski area. Walking distance to Lake Rotoiti, perfect for swimming, boating, trout fishing etc. Enjoy a coffee or meal at the local cafe, or pick up the evening newspaper at the local shop. Both are only a short walk away from the bach. While you are here, visit the local DOC centre to get all the details on the walks in the area, and see their history display.
Special conditions:
Young children will need supervision outside.
Firewood is supplied for the open fire.
A gas BBQ is provided, but you must supply your own gas bottle.

Bush hideaway

We really enjoyed our stay in a real old-style bach out of our childhoods. The views straight into the beech forest were magical.

Great place to stay to open the opportunities to explore the area.

Great old school bach which removed the opportunity to have the kids the be parked up in front of the TV. Great to wake up to the noise of the native birds just outside your window

Family Christmas

Herb's Place was an ideal place to reunite with family from across the world in a place where we all holidayed as children in a bach close by. It was spacious and yet cosy when the weather turned cold. Great holiday.

Peaceful retreat in the beech forest

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Herb’s place. The location was fantastic, we loved walking through the beech forest down to the lake. Lake Rotoiti is magical and Herb’s Place had everything that we needed. Communication with Nicky was great. We hope to be back :)

Restful welcoming stay.

Cosy traditional bach in native woods with beautiful bird song all around. Has a lovely homely ambience with everything you need and is obviously a well loved place to the family.
