Whiritoa is a small beach village on the Coromandel Peninsula 16km north of Waihi township and 13km south of Whangamata (10-15min drive to either). It has a small store (providing basics, coffee and takeaways), tennis courts, surf lifesaving club and a volunteer fire department.
Great playground for the littlies and the surf club is open in the summer for takeaways and a beer!
Whiritoa beach itself is popular for surfers as it often features a roaming sandbar or two. Always swim between the flags.
At the north end of the 1.5km beach is a small lagoon - ideal for the little ones to swim and play and past this is a 15 minute walk to Waimana Bay that features white sand, crystal clear waters and a canopy of Pohutukawa trees.
At the south end is a short bush walk to a blowhole.
Whangamata is approx 10 minutes away and Waihi is 15 minutes away. Whiritoa is a 1and1/2 hour drive from Bombay via Paeroa.
We can provide a quote for a local cleaner and we ask that any group booking (6 adults) to pay a compulsory cleaning/inspection fee (approx $90 for a 3 hour clean).
