For that peaceful, tranquil retreat, look no further than the Essential Garden studio accommodation. Surrounded by native bush, the sounds of modern living are left behind while you relax on your own private deck, enjoying the cheeky bird-life with their intoxicating song, or soak in the hot tub. Located just 15 minutes from the northern motorway, the peace and quiet will trick you into thinking you're on an island getaway.
The studio comprises a whole floor with separate bedroom and en-suite, lounge area and kitchenette. Fold-out bed available on request for an additional linen fee.
Take a walk through the internal roads on this 12-acre property and enjoy the sights and smells of the Essential Garden. When you need a break from all this relaxation, you can visit the many local attractions within easy driving distance: the historic Puhoi Pub is a mere 10 minute drive. The picturesque Warkworth village with its charming vibe and old school shopping, Matakana wineries and enticing Morris and James pottery is a further 10 minutes up the road.

Idyllic setting on edge of Auckland
One of the best places we’ve ever stayed in on any of the house evening sites - peaceful, quiet space to chill and relax. Everything was great. Deserving of its high rating and worth the trek to get there.

Very fit for purpose
We wanted something that took us away from city life and we certainly achieved that purpose. Alastair has done an amazing amount of landscape work and studio accommodation to prepare. For this “paradise property in Puhoi”. Great service, photos online dont do enough to promote the nature, beautiful surroundings and amenities. AAA. Thank you Alastair, well hosted.

We stayed at the Studio for two nights. The Studio is clean, well equipped and modern. The views are incredible and you are surrounded by beautiful nature landscapes. The hosts are friendly and accomodating. We'll recommend this to anyone and would love to visit again.

My wife, my niece & I loved the studio located in the bush in Puhoi. It was very clean & we loved the relaxing atmosphere. Our niece also loved the herb garden situated a short walk away & loved playing hide and seek in it. It was a great stay! Thanks Alastair for being such an accomodating host!

Green haven!
This was a surprise weekend getaway trip for our family and the Essential Garden studio was everything we thought it would be. Well-furnished and tastefully decorated, the space felt cosy and comfortable. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, surrounded by greenery and natural light. Our family relished the complimentary jar of honey too! With free WiFi, Chromecast, Sky TV, music system and books, there was plenty to keep the whole family entertained. Alasdair was an excellent host, easy to communicate with and ready to help us with whatever we needed. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Essential Garden Relaxation
Highly recommend! We needed a weekend away from our normal weekends in Pt Chevalier. We were able to take our large dog and we had the studio and 8 acres of bush property to ourselves. Our dog was off lead the whole time and able to explore the property with no other dogs around. We even got to experience a stone carving course on sight run by Al and Fiona which we would never of thought to do. Was so much fun. Thank you Al and Fiona we will be back and spreading the word of your little touch of tranquility. We have been recharged.
