The apartment has a wonderful sense of space with expansive sea and mountain views. Enjoy tranquil sun rises and relaxing sun sets whilst you enjoy an evening drink on the north facing balcony. The Retro style apartment offers a contemporary New Zealand art collection and mid-century modern furniture. One guest referred to the property as a jewel box. You won’t want to leave.

Mt Pleasant is a coastal suburb of Christchurch, situated on the lower slopes of the Port Hills, it’s very close to Lyttleton Harbour, Sumner Beach and the City Centre. There’s plenty of scope for leisure activities close by, including walking and biking tracks. A local riding school and driving range. Great windsurfing and stand-up paddle boarding on the Estuary, wonderful surf at Sumner Beach and Taylors Mistake. If you want to venture out a bit further, then there is a wide range of Ski Fields within a 1 1/2 hours’ drive. More relaxing activities could include the hot pools overlooking the beach at New Brighton. The central city offers a great buzz around the Riverside Market, with high street shopping, simulating architecture, Art Gallery’s and endless street art. Lonely Planet referred Christchurch as being amongst the top Street Art Capitals of the world.

The Art House

The apartment is like an artists loft. Lovely views, there are houses in front but you still have sweeping views of the estuary. The art will keep you entertained. Everything you need for a great stay. Take your own beach towels. Do the walk at Taylor’s mistake, or wander round Mt Pleasant. Go to Sumner and The Tannery.

Magical sojourn in Kaikoura

This is an amazing property, aesthetically beautiful and completely comfortable. It’s tucked into the foothills of dramatic mountains and affords incredible views over the lovely gardens. We had such an incredible stay, and Susie gave us privacy while answering to all our needs.

Stunning house with unique vibe

We spent a lot of time at the beach, but we also LOVED the house. We had family/friends in the Christchurch area and were able to have a group of 4 for dinner and they were all blown away by the house as well. It’s hard to even describe how much more unique and high quality this place is compared to the usual VRBO. Nothing is from IKEA or looks like a hotel room. The furniture is mid century modern but with a velvety-rich-colors touch and the throw pillows are art-quality. The actual art on the walls is AMAZING. The host is very helpful and communicative. We wished we could have stayed longer!

A unique and relaxing space

A beautiful, light, airy, art-filled, joyfully decorated space with a stunning kitchen (I love the mirror splash back) and the most comfortable beds. Had a quiet time to read, recharge and enjoy the surrounds esp Sumner. The host was incredibly responsive and friendly. Looks just like the photos. It was lovely. If you are considering, take the plunge. Worth it.

A gallery-like home offering a comfortably stimulating environment. The well curated space is filled with art, light, books and curiosities. Beautiful views throughout to the changing tides, weather and light. We really enjoyed staying there.

Views views views!

A beautiful upstairs unit. The views are amazing! The deck was enjoyable for anytime watching the bay tides. A wonderful kitchen fully equipped! The bedrooms are well separated. A short drive away and you are hiking that is beautiful! Or you can drive the summit road. Suzanne gave us great information. Many of the smaller shops don’t take charge cards so have cash on hand. We would return.

Quaint house with amazing views!

The hostess went above and beyond to personally welcome us and share local opportunities! She took us on a local hiking tour both days we stayed at her place. Wonderful hospitality and within minutes we felt like we were at home. We asked about getting a massage and she contacted 3 places to make sure we could get an appt. It was an amazing experience and she really added a lot to our stay! Would definitely recommend!

Why they chose this property

I really enjoy this property because of its location on the lower slopes of Mt Pleasant. One huge benefit is being able to exercise without getting into a car. The property is very private and tucked away, but in a prime seat to enjoy the lower slopes elevation and panoramic views.
The property is on two levels. The Art House is on the first floor. Its apartment style living, with a very spacious feeling due to the 180 degree views and high ceilings. The veranda is great for outdoor dining and drinks in the summer. It captures the end of the days sun.

What makes this property unique

Great collection of Contemporary New Zealand Art and interesting furniture.
Very enjoyable kitchen to relax and cook in.
Wake up to the sunrise in the East and enjoy the setting sun in the evening.
The architecture is a bit wacky, high roof beams, Vinyl padded door, great walls for Art.
