The Brambles - Cute Semi-Rural Guest House in Greytown
Our property is a 3 acre lifestyle block located on Udy Street, it's arguably one of the prettiest streets in Greytown and a very popular walking route. Access to the Brambles is down a long driveway lined with olive trees and the property is not visible from the road. On the property we have chickens, sheep, alpacas, we also have Peking Ducks free ranging. There will be some fresh farm eggs waiting for you on arrival.
The Brambles got it’s name from the wild Blackberries that run along the side of the cottage on the boundary to Pinehaven Orchard, feel free to pick your own when they’re in season. There's a walking track at the end of our street that takes you through farmland and down to the river which is a great way to see some of the countryside.
We have a Maremma Italian Sheepdog 'Ricco' and little white fluff ball called 'Nix' (Japanese Spitz) They love to say a very enthusiastic hello to new visitors. We also have a Ragdoll cat 'Felix' and a couple of Kunekune pigs 'Frank & Louis' who also may run up to the fence to say hi
Greytown boasts having the most complete Victorian Main St in NZ. Just over 1 hour drive from Wellington, Greytown has become a Mecca for boutique shopping and has some great restaurants and cafes. We are 15mins from Martinborough with an abundance of wineries and olive groves. The property is a 2min drive or a pleasant 15min walk from the town centre
So if you're looking for a tranquil rural farm experience that's easy walking distance to town then this is the place for you but if you're not an animal or dog lover then it's fair to say that this is not the place for you 😊
We hope to see you soon

Had a great stay here, absolutely loved the animals-kunekune pigs and dogs, being able to pat them and feed them apples off the ground. Even the dog stayed for dinner on our first night! Had everything we needed. Agree with some of the other reviews on the bed but would not stop us from booking again. Central to town and very quiet and peaceful. Definitely be back
We had a very pleasant stay at the Brambles. It was very cozy, comfortable & peaceful & had everything you need. The setting in the garden is gorgeous, & of course the animals were a bonus. Would definitely love to stay again. Greytown is a very pretty town but in the Autumn it is stunning.
I loved my weekend at the Brambles. Everything was just so easy. The cottage is the perfect space for solo travellers or a couple. The location is within walking distance to the village, with bikes made available for me to use if I wished. The pictures perfectly show the space and all the lovely animals you will meet. I would definitely stay here again
The Brambles was a peaceful getaway, plenty of space inside and outside, with only a short distance to shops and amenities in Greytown. Lovely to have the farm animals especially Frank and Lious the Kunekune pigs. The hosts Mike and Yvonne were very helpful with sharing local knowledge, nothing was a trouble to them even to the extent of offering the use of their own washing machine. Absolutely nothing at all was a problem to them always interested in what you had been doing for the day. Left you to yourself if that was what you wanted. Great hosts. Thanks for sharing your cottage with us. Wayne.
We spent six nights at The Brambles and loved every minute of it. The cottage is tiny but very comfortable and set in a stunning garden, the hosts are very respectful of privacy but easily contactable when we needed anything, and we loved getting to know all the animals. We enjoyed the fresh eggs and the lovely bottle of wine too!
We stayed 3 nights. We were in need of quiet after stressful and sad family events. Peaceful surroundings, no traffic noise, but close to Greytown. I would like to go back and pick the blackberries one day.
Beautiful surroundings and an easy walk to the town
Peaceful, dark starry nights, really comfortable and warm. Beautiful surroundings with privacy.
Awesome chooks, pigs, dogs and the cat that popped over, had a quick look and then left.
And amazing hosts. Welcoming and some great ideas about what to do.
A lovely relaxing 3 nights.
Enjoyed a very comfortable, cosy cottage not to far out of main town centre
We arrived to a very welcome, warmly heated, lights on and freshly picked flowers. Also farm fresh eggs to use for breakfast. Enjoyed meeting the friendly pigs, chickens and family dogs during our stay.
Great spot and so peaceful
very small, nowhere in bedroom for bags.
Fresh eggs were a nice touch.
Lovely outdoor seating area.
Chickens and pigs were delightful, the large dog was intimidating
We enjoyed staying at the idyllic Brambles, away from the noise of SH2 and nestled within a gorgeous country setting. Cute, clean & cosy property with excellent outdoor living flow. Stunning night sky views and daily close encounters with the property’s dogs, hens and pigs! Easy access to a 6km walking loop to the river, with a tail that can take you in to central Greytown.
The property was tucked away from the main house and was nice and tranquil. We were greeted by the fur babies who were good time wasters. The cottage was clean and tidy and comfortable. The walk in to Greytown is on the flat and is easy on the legs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
We had a lovely stay in the wee cottage. Peaceful surroundings, clean and tidy with everything we needed for our two nights. Very welcoming hosts, fantastic company in the hens, dogs and pigs. Hoping to be back for Midwinter!
