Vineyard Retreat near stunning Abel Tasman

Our Vineyard Retreat cottage is situated on 25 acres of private land which includes pasture, vegetable and flower gardens, an olive grove, hop garden and boutique vineyard with its own cellar Door.

It is the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park offering boat trips, kayaking, walking or a combination of all 3! Or you could just laze on the stunning beaches of Kaiteriteri and Marahau which are all just 10 minutes away by car.

The cycle trails are an exciting way to see the area, with the vineyard cottage only 1km away from the trail giving access to the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park.

Takaka and the beautiful Golden Bay is only 1 hour drive away. Have a day out 'over the hill' in Hobbit land. Visit the limestone caves on the way!

The Riwaka Resurgence is where the northern branch of the Riwaka River emerges from the depths of the Takaka Hill and is just 7km away.

Venture 15 minutes drive into Motueka to discover great cafes and restaurants, movie theatres and local artists and fresh produce the Motueka region is reknowned for.

40 minutes further on is the city of Nelson, offering many attractions including the Museum, boutique shopping, great cafes, galleries and restaurants. A walk up to the Centre of NZ is a highlight.

The Nelson Lakes are an hour away, with beautiful all year-round activities.

Great spot - close enough to the Great Taste Cycle Trail - only 1-1.5km on road to get to it after you leave the trail. Cosy, warm - all you need while you stay.

Vineyard Retreat
We had a very enjoyable four night stay at the vineyard retreat. The communication with the hosts was excellent, very friendly. The property is lovely, the kitchen has all that you require for your stay, the bed is very comfortable and the lounge area is pleasant with a view of the vineyard. We enjoyed the location of the retreat, the local area is delightful, there are so many places to visit. We would stay again at Riwaka Vineyard retreat.

Quiet country retreat
Great place to stay. Owners very friendly and enjoyed chatting with them. Loved the chickens and the friendly fantails. Very peaceful and close to all the attractions in the area.

Lovely accommodation on a vineyard-well equipped & a welcoming host! Good location to enjoy the wonderful walks & beaches! We particularly enjoyed sitting in the evening sun with a bottle of red wine from the host’s cellar door…bliss! Thank you for great stay!

Ideal setting and situation
We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the Bach and surrounding area. Amber, her Mum and Paul were great hosts. We learnt a lot about grapes, hops and olives from conversations with Paul. The Bach was well appointed but a chest of drawers would have been useful in the bedroom for our longer stay. It was ideally situated to go to Kaiteriteri, Motueka and to drive north to Takaka and Collingwood. The beaches at Kaiteriteri are great and the boat trips , kayaking etc all start from here. It was our first visit to the area and we could not have picked a better place to stay.

Vinyard oasis
The photos don't do this spot justice. Nestled between hops, olive tree, and vineyard. Beautiful flower gardens, friendly host and animals. Very lovely spot - highly recommend.

A great base for Abel Tasman walks and activities
The cottage was a cosy and well situated base for our time exploring Abel Tasman and the Nelson region. A super comfy bed and nice lounge meant that we were very comfortable during the evening and nights. Good wifi and access to Netflix was a nice touch too.

Beautiful setting
My family had a wonderful stay, communication was great, check in and out was straight forward, the hosts were very accommodating and helpful, the cottage was charming, clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed exploring the vineyard and our children loved visiting the animals. It was an excellent location from which to explore parts of Abel Tasman national park.

Cottage was ok. It had everything that we needed and once we had been there for a bit was nice and cozy. Sadly it rained all the time that we were there so were unable to go on any walks around the area but would have been very handy if weather had been suitable.

We are a family of 4 living rurally after years living in big cities. We enjoy outdoor activities and being close to the beach, rivers and cycling tracks. We have chickens, pigs, ducks and occasional onsite sheep.
While we live on the property, the cottage is separate from the main house and there is plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy.

We chose this property because of its outstanding beauty. Close to all amenities and activities, it combines the best of being a working rural property and the perfect place to live / stay. Our cellar door is now a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike. Oh, and the night sky is amazing!
