Charmae Guest House by the river. 7 x Beds, (sleeps 10) Plus powered van site

This Guest House is located very close to the CBD, and many attractions in and around wanganui. The river itself is the longest navigable river in New Zealand, and offers jet boat tours and more gentler rides on the Waimarie paddle steamer, the last remaining in New Zealand. The river attracts cyclists, hikers ,canoeists,and day trippers. The Sarjeant Gallery holds more than 5,500 art works from the 1840's to the present day. The regional museum is famous for its Taonga Maori Collection, second to none in Aotearoa. There is the Durie Hill Elevator and Tower, Glass blowing exibitions and gallery , Farmer's market , mountain to sea cycle trails, observatory and much loved childrens play ground. Throughout the year there is the masters games, street motorcycle racing, V8 jet boat sprints, opera week, Vintage weekend where every thing from the bygone era is on display. Not forgetting the ski slopes are only 1and 1/2 hrs away.

golf trip

We had a group of 4 players attending a golf tournament in Wanganui and stayed 4 nights. It was clean,tidy and well presented with far more available beds for larger groups. Great friendly hosts to deal with and very efficient.They had left cereals,condiments etc available for our use whilst we didn't use them I am sure many would find this useful. Highly recommend this place and couldn't fault anything at all. Thanks for sharing your lovely house with us.

Girls yearly get away.

Very well equiped in all manner of things,very clean and comfortable,we were 6 women in our mid seventies to late eighties,and go away same time every year,to all sorts of places and have done fot 17years,and would recomend this accomodation to anyone.

Perfect Family Accommodation

A great stay was booked for a 3 day stay for some family from auckland. Host are lovely as they live behind the house but that was ok as its still very private. House had everything its warm cosy and very homely but would suggest a dryer as there were not enough towels for a family of 7 for those 3 days. And emptying the rubbish bin an recycling bin before new guest arrive as they were full the day of check in. Overall i 100% recommend.

A wonderful stay with a wonderful house.

We had a fabulous stay at Charmae. Allan and Kathy are awesome hosts and really kind and caring. Thoughtful things throughout the house like cotton buds, coffee, coffee crystals. The house is pretty amazing and very spacious. It was really beneficial for us to have bedrooms separated by other spaces, so the bedrooms aren't all next to each other. We found that worked really well. We also had car trouble - Allan and Kathy were so helpful! I can't thank them enough for kindness.

A wonderful stay with a wonderful house.

Allan and Kathy have a beautiful guest house that is well located and feels like a home away from home. We really enjoyed staying at Charmae and highly recommend their guest house. Allan and Kathy are wonderful kind hosts. They welcomed up warmly and the house has little things that most places wouldn't think of like cotton buds, coffee, and sugar crystals! We stayed five nights in total, so on our return back through Wanganui, they even remembered my mum couldn't have the electric blanket plugged in - extremely thoughtful. It's the little things that really made us feel welcome. We also had car trouble. Allan and Kathy were so kind and helpful and even arranged for us to stay another night so we could get the car fixed and travel home safe. We really recommend staying at Charmae and are ever grateful to Allan and Kathy.

Family Holiday

We enjoyed our stay and the house is as listed. Only complaint were the mattresses on the single beds. Might be okay for children, but not good for adults. All 4 adults that stayed in single beds complained. Other than that the property was perfect and the continental breakfast was a thoughtful addition.
