Pounawea is a beautiful little Holiday Town surrounded almost by a Waterfront Estuary where the Owaka River meets the Catlins River. With Bush Walks, Golf, Tennis, Kids Park and much more only walking distance The Kowhai Flat is in a prime location!

Pounawea is only 6 min drive from the nearest Town, Petrol Station, Four Square and Restaurants. And close to all the Catlins attractions such as Jack's Blowhole, Purakainui Falls, Matai Falls and so on.

Across the Estuary is Surat Bay, famous for its stunning beaches and Sea Lions.

The Kowhai Flat is situated at Kuramea Holiday Park boasting lots of run around space for the kids! It is a semi-detached Flat (1 of 2 Flats) situated on the Kuramea Holiday Park.

A simply amazing property
We couldn't ask for anything more from this property - it was clean and tidy, with all the essential appliances and conveniences. The beds were great and our hosts friendly and helpful. A real gem of a find - we will be back again.

Lovely getaway
We really enjoyed our stay, comfy beds and all the utilities needed. The use of the camping ground kitchen is a bonus when washing up for a large group. Also the extra toilet is helpful for when the main bathroom is in use.

Bailey and Shelly were amazing to deal with. Nothing was a bother, great facilities and the heat pumps were kindly turned on before we arrived. The house was really tidy and warm. We would totally recommend staying here if you want to get away and be a stoned throw from the beach 😀

Family weekend
The unit was very clean and tidy. Only one t-towel could have done with a couple more for 9 of us. It was frosty weather and that could have been the problem why we had no hot water. Overall though a great place to stay.

Peaceful getaway
The apartment was large, spacious, comfortable and warm and well able to cope with the extended family. A great base to explore the hidden gems of the Catlins. The fact that it was very quiet at night and the comfortable beds made it a great opportunity to recharge our batteries.

We had a lovely stay, the weather could not have been better. We experienced a sensitive smoke alarm that the manager came to help turn the noise off and how we could reset if it were it to go off again. We all failed to understand the instructions to make the TV work, so gave up. Minor things really that did not spoil our stay. Thank you Regards Pauline

Location is great 45 mins to nugget point and 1.25 hour to curio bay and everything you want to see inbetween. Property is very well renovated and a good comfortably spot to come back to after s day exploring.
