About this property

Rabbiter’s Cottage. Family. Farm Stay. Country.

The Rabbiter’s Cottage is based next door to our Te Aratipi Homestead and is part of a Century old sheep and cattle farm owned by the Palmer family. It’s proximity to native bush walks, the stunning Waimarama beach, Maraetotara Falls and Havelock North ‘village’ makes it a perfect farm stay and getaway without feeling like you are ‘in the sticks’. Perfect for families and children, we implore you to come and explore the sunny wine and cycle region.
The cottage is situated next door to our garage and homestead. You share the driveway with us but the cottage is very private. You are more than welcome to walk over the farm, around the large garden and play croquet, kubb or tennis. The stunning and popular Waimarama beach is a 12 minute drive further down the road, Mohi Bush only 5 minutes away and the scenic Maraetotara Falls 20 minutes away. We have completed our own bushwalk across the road also for you to explore. You are welcome to feed the chickens and collect the eggs. If you are into golf, we have our own course for you to play on for an additional fee. You are welcome to walk around the large garden and to play croquet, kubb or tennis in the Summer months! If you fancy a snooze in our hammock, help yourself! We also have two leisure bikes you are welcome to use.
We love chatting with guests! Feel free to ask us anything!
We are a small rural community. The closest store is down at Waimarama Beach, 12 minutes drive away. You really do need your own car or a rental to get to us as well as to explore this lovely region.
Please note, this is a working farm (can-am, motorbikes, tractors, dogs and noise) and we have a young family.
We also love having our own friends and family to stay as we are very social beings.
We have a Vodafone booster but no other cellphone reception. Our phone operates via landline through the internet. Wifi is in the cottage and linked to our main house. Make sure you pop out address into maps before you lose reception on route to ours as reception cuts in and out!
We have young children and everything you need (portacot, baby bath, high hair, toys). Please let us know what you would like set up for your arrival/stay.
We have a friendly horse down the road you can visit, Aly. We also have done chickens that you are welcome to feed! We also have a gorgeous, sooky white Lab called Tag. He wouldn’t hurt a fly (seriously).

Rural breakaway
Beautifully presented in a cottage style. We were greeted with a bottle of delightful Rose and fresh muffins. The owners were friendly and welcoming and took us on a farm excursion to a scenic outlook of the Waimarama Valley. Our grandson really enjoyed his first farm experience on the off road farm vehicle, friendly farm dogs and chooks. Thank you for a really memorable stay. One possible improvement could be a small clothesline on the side of the cottage for towels and such like.
