Parua Bay Stay
The third 3 day stay of a 9 day holiday. The bach/chalet was well appointed, to a high standard, and suitable for couples. Set down a small track it is in a quiet location and is a good base to explore Whangarei heads and the adjacent coast. A pleasant and comfortable place for a long weekend.

Pat and Gail - we are excited to receive visitors to Parua Bay! We've lived here, developing our 3 acre property for the past 32 years and are experts in places to go and things to do around here. Our property is partly covenanted bush (lots of bird life), with harbour water adjoining the land at the end of the shared driveway (no water access this way). The main family house is 50m away but both dwellings are very private. We are a semi-retired couple with both kids having flown the nest, so we're on hand to attend to any extra needs should they arise.

Why they chose this property

We love the area which is a classic kiwi coastal community (not so small any more), with the Parua Bay village only one km down the road. At the village is everything you would need for supplies etc., with arguably the BEST 4 square in NZ! Claire and her team have everything stocked that you could possibly need - no need to go back to Onerahi (only 10 mins drive away). Two cafes and an indian restaurant that serve (again) the best food, are included in the shopping area. You have the choice of walks, mountain climbing, coastal swimming(+ surf), fish n chips on the beach (McCleods Bay takeaways), boating, fishing etc. only 15 minutes or so away. Love it here!

What makes this property unique

The cottage is elevated, quiet, private, and cosy. At the same time, the stacker doors can been thrown open to create air flow on hotter days. High ceilings create a sense of space. There are two areas for outdoor seating, creating alternative places depending on the weather. Both areas have outlooks that evoke peace and tranquility, with a grove of gorgeous pongas, native bush, and water and mountain views - what more could you ask for?
