The space:
We're offering our family cottage (aka "The Beacon") for rent. The Beacon is a waterfront log house that's fully equipped to comfortably host up to 8 guests so it's perfect for 2 families or a group of friends who want a magical place to recharge, relax, reunite or work remotely.

Surrounded by nature, this family-friendly log home provides a quiet getaway from city bustle, yet only 1hr from Ottawa.

Enjoy deep breaths of fresh air and stunning views of Pontiac Bay from the large private deck. Relish quality time swimming, fishing, hiking, star-gazing, canoeing, or kayaking. Relax on the private beach, watch for wildlife, read by the woodburning stove, detox in the cedar sauna and roast marshmallows over a roaring campfire. During the winter enjoy snowshoeing or skating!

Kids will enjoy the treehouse with slide, monkey bars, floating dock, sandy beach, green lawn space for soccer and games, and a variety of childrens’ books. As my son says, "this place is a slice of heaven".

The cottage has 4 bedrooms (5 beds) + den (pullout couch) with beautiful wood details and rustic charm. Every room boasts views of the bay and surrounding forests, with either a queen or twin beds. There are bathrooms on each level, with each having a tub/shower unit, towels, beach towels and a hair dryer. The den has a dedicated work space, strong WIFI, flat screen TV and DVD player (or can connect to a laptop or streaming device), views of the bay, plus a double pull-out sofa bed.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and baking. Contains stove/oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, filtered drinking water, blender, mixmaster, tea kettle and other appliances. There is a propane BBQ and charcoal BBQ on the deck, plus a second fridge downstairs.

The living room features a cozy wood burning stove with complementary firewood, sofa, reading chair, and 2 loveseats.

Outside you’ll find a large deck and Lawn, with table and chairs seating 8, large picnic table (seats 8pp), large shade umbrella, two lounge chairs and additional deck chairs. Outdoor cooking sink near the propane BBQ area.

Other things to note:
- We ask that you only use ‘reef safe’ sunscreens to help protect the health of the ecosystem.
- Please let us know in advance if you require access to the Tesla level 2 EV charger.

I grew up in the Ottawa area and the Beacon has been a family getaway since 1975. It was rebuilt as a log house in 1993 by my family. It's now being enjoyed by 3 generations and we want others to experience the place when we aren't there. We hope you'll love it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

The area has a lot of historic significance to the indegeneous peoples and for the early settlers who use it for logging and transportation. The area is very quiet with half the lake being owned and untouched by Hydro Quebec. The other half has a few cottages and a large section owned by the Tim Horton's Foundation. We are biased but firmly believe we have the best location on Pontiac Bay!
