Explore rustic charm in our secluded Guest Cottage, just 5 mins from downtown Huntsville! Modern amenities such as fast Wifi, heated floors throughout, propane BBQ, and Smart TV ensure a cozy stay in a woodsy cottage setting. The fire pit makes it a great spot to star gaze & spot some deer in the woods. A convenient location to discover nearby Arrowhead & Algonquin Parks, or to enjoy some water views at Brunel Lift Locks right across the street. Your charming & rustic Muskoka retreat is waiting!
The Cottage:
Welcome to our charming guest cottage nestled on the outskirts of Huntsville, just a short 5 minute drive to the vibrant Main St. area.
Perfect for a cozy retreat, our cottage boasts a queen-sized bedroom, a spacious bathroom with heated floors, and a comfortable living area. The well-equipped kitchenette includes a fridge/freezer, off-site larger chest freezer, microwave, toaster-oven, drip coffee maker, kettle, along with all cookware and dining essentials. While it's not a full-size kitchen, you'll find everything you need for meal preparation, including an electric frying pan, induction cook-top burner, and slow-cooker. Relax in the living room with a plush sofa and a 43" Smart TV, or step outside onto the covered porch to enjoy the propane BBQ and soak in the serene surroundings. Additional outdoor amenities include a hammock, outdoor table & chairs, propane BBQ, and fire pit. For convenience we also have a full-size washer & dryer in the utility room for longer stays.
During the warmer months (April - October), guests can gather around the fire pit, but please note that it's not maintained during the winter or during local burn bans. The property also includes a large yard for your enjoyment.
Please also note that we also rent out the main house on the property and it may be rented out simultaneously. It's approximately 100 feet away, providing both privacy and seclusion. If you're planning for a larger group, inquire about renting both units for a seamless experience.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire guest cottage & surrounding grounds during your stay, including the fire pit. Please note that all guests must obey the fire burning by-laws from the town of Huntsville. There are some woods behind the cottage which is part of our property but please be aware that we do have neighbours which means that wandering through the woods may mean you end up on their property. Please be cautious if you go for a walk behind the cottage in the woods.
The property is not located on a lake, but there are access points just a few minutes down the road from the property. There's also Avery Beach located approximately 6 minutes away car, and Hutcheson Beach is about 10 minutes by car. Arrowhead Park and Port Sydney also have cute beaches nearby (both approximately 15 minutes away by car). Limberlost Forest & Wildlife Reserve is approximately 20 minutes away, offering great scenery & trails & lakes... and it's all FREE of charge!
You will have self check in with a digital keyless lock. Code & instructions will be provided a few days prior to check in.
If guests are staying in the main house the same dates as you we will do our best to inform them & ask them to keep 1 side of the wrap-around driveway clear for you at all times.
Other Details to Note:
Thank you for taking care of our property. We ask that you treat the property with care & respect, just as we do. We take pride in this cottage & put a lot of care & work into it to make it an amazing experience for our guests. Please note the following:
- Strict No smoking/vaping inside the unit. If you choose to smoke, we ask that you smoke/vape outside & that you are responsible & safe with ashes & cigarette butts & they are disposed of carefully. Do not discard cigarette butts or any other kind of smoking waste on our property as you could be charged a fee.
- Strict No parties/events/unauthorized guests or additional overnight guests.
- Quiet hours to be observed from 11pm-7am daily both inside & outside.
- There is also the main house on the property located approximately 100ft away that we rent out separately to other guests, or together to larger groups. Please enquire within if you'd like to book both properties for a larger group (maximum of 10 people).
- Maximum of one well behaved dog is allowed, with the agreement that they are not to go on any furniture or textiles etc & has a crate or bed to sleep in. Our neighbours have 2 dogs on their property which may bark periodically throughout the day. There’s an invisible fence separating the properties & the dogs have never crossed to our property.
- Property is not water front but has lake access points just down Brunel road, as well as at the public docks in the centre of town. Avery Beach, Hutcheson Beach, Arrowhead Park and Port Sydney offer very cute beaches & are only a short drive from the property.
- Fire Pit- the fire pit is available for your use during spring, summer & fall. Guests must obey all local fire burning by-laws & guidelines (no daytime burning at all). We try our best to provide some wood, however we may not always be able to. Firewood can be purchased at local gas stations up here, a few minutes drive from the property. There are bbq lighters inside the cottage to use as well. Please be careful & responsible when using the fire pit & ensure the flames are extinguished once finished. There is a hose on the side of the cottage (facing the pond) for you to put out the fire, as well as a bucket in the utility room. Thank you in advance. And please note that the fire pit is not maintained during the winter months (November to March/April).
- If you use any streaming apps on the Smart TV please remember to log out of them upon checkout!
- For winter, it's recommended that guests have winter tires on their vehicles as there is an incline to the driveway. We also have a snow plow service that plows the wrap-around driveway as well as the guest cottage driveway when it snows.
- Parking- lots of room to park in the driveway & we have extended the driveway at the top to allow for vehicles to more easily turn around up there. Please do not park or drive on the grass anywhere. We recommend backing up the driveway to make it easier to exit.
- Please do not litter on the property.
- We do our best to maintain it at a high level, but being in a country setting means that sometimes a few furry visitors and/or bugs may be around. It happens up in Muskoka!
- We recommend all of our guests to pack some insect repellent during the spring & summer months.
- General tidy up from your stay is very much appreciated upon check out. Thank you:)
