After I made the reservation I was notified by owner that i would be charged extra money for cleaning fees. it was all written in French, which is absolutely fine, but the owner advertises as French, English, and Spanish speaking. I blew it off, accepted it. Made the reservations months in advance. Upon arrival with my family, after getting off train and with 3 heavy hiking bags, and not a huge French vocabulary we had to ask multiple other people to translate the directions of accessing apartment, which was find a bike, look through several lock boxes tied to this bike to locate keys. Fun, with a child, back packs, 4 hour train ride. Access apartment, and it smells horrible, all towels used, bed a mess, crumbs on counter, full trash. I call owner on both numbers provided, and in VRBO, and no answer. VRBO gets ahold of her and I’m told cleaning people will be there in an hour, go have a drink. I said I don’t drink, owner laughs and says well go have a Coke..( im sober).. so I ask to speak to VRBO rep privately and I ask her if this is appropriate to ask for more money for cleaning and then not have it done upon arrival time, and the VRBO rep said well at least she spoke to you.. as if I should be greatful, and just be content with the situation even though the product promised was not product delivered, I guess cleaning lady got into an accident. 2 hours later, not cleaned..I was offered another apartment in French which I couldn’t understand. Left for hotel with no refund.
