The pictures say it all. Clean and ready to go. Great kitchen and common area. We rented in january and used the fireplace space heaters and were plenty warm. Hot tub was spacious for 1 person and very relaxing. You can hear the upstairs rentees walking around.
Overall, would stay here again and would recommend to others! If this is helpful, here are our pros/cons-
Pros:
- Host was extremely quick with response
- Location was great
- Beds were comfortable
- Extra pillows/blankets provided
- Cute, good space
- Views were beautiful
- Close walk to downtown (just a big hill to climb coming back)
- Heater in each room
Cons:
- No thermostat to control temp
- The room closest to the kitchen had a closet with the furnace that would turn off/on all night with loud thumping noises
- A check-in/check-out email was not provided. Had to request both, and not very detailed
- No wifi provided
- Could hear the guests and their dogs on the top floor, but they were respectful
Another great stay at Josephine’s.
We LOVE this place! Clean, comfortable, well appointed, ample parking, great views and best location. Owner is really responsive and accommodating.
We will be back!
My husband and I had the best stay!
Really clean, spacious and well appointed apartment. Owners thought of everything! Beds were super comfortable. Kitchen is gorgeous. I really enjoyed the jacuzzi tub after hiking The Switchback Trail, which is literally in the back yard of this beautiful house. View of JT from the top of the hill were great!
Owners were friendly, super responsive and extremely gracious.
Will definitely book again!

Noisy upstairs renters
The property was very clean and spacious. Plenty of linens and towels to be had. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were clean and stocked with products. The location was good but the walk back home could prove to be very difficult for anyone that is older or has a walking issue. I had to reach out to the owner for arrival codes and instructions but they were emailed right away. The worst part of this rental is the location of the apartment in the basement. We could not sleep due to the constant upstairs all night noise. You hear every step, cough, conversation that was being had upstairs. I got hardly any sleep and we left without staying our 2nd night. I made no attempt to reach out to the owner about the noise because I honestly didn't think anything could be done. The upstairs noise lasted well into the early morning hours and began again around 6:30 am. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the rental for you. If you can sleep through anything, then this rental would be perfect as that was our only, but major, issue.
We were appalled by the untimely notification that our booking was cancelled four hours before we were to arrive. We contacted the owner to receive the house code and only then were notified through emails that our reservation was being refunded. We had booked this vacation the first week of December. We are extremely angry that the owner did not notice the overbooking especially when it was Winterfest weekend.

Happy New Year
The property was amazing and close to everything! The worst part of our stay was that both of us work hard and were looking for a quiet getaway weekend. We had the downstairs apt and let me tell you...back and forth, back and forth, back and forth running was all we heard. The only break we had was when the upst6airs family left and went out! There is no thermostat but there was electric heaters, we had a fairly warm weekend so not sure how it would be on a 20 degree day. View was amazing and the place was filled with love and beautiful decor. I would definitely return but will look into staying upstairs this time!
We loved Josephine’s place. It was perfect for a family of 5. Also the location was great. Just close enough to walk to town.
We will be back. Thank you!
We love staying at this property in Jim Thorpe. Very clean, wonderful host, and really good location. We really enjoyed having coffee and breakfast outside on the patio! Can’t wait to return!
Three adults stayed over 4th of July in this apartment located in the basement of a home with outside entrance and had great parking for two cars. Don’t recall seeing it was a basement apartment before we rented, and upstairs was rented (dogs allowed and we heard the dog a bit but thankfully no real barking. We are dog people so it was ok but could be an issue if you don’t like that. ) Biggest thing was that thermostat was upstairs in other unit so we had no control of the temperature. Thankfully it was cooler and the beds (very comfortable) had very nice thick warm comforters
Unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, is nicely finished and very clean. Living room sofas were older and a bit worn and could have been more comfortable but were ok. Lots of light in two large windows and full glass door along the outside wall of main room. Lots of high hat lights with confusing light switches but keep looking and most were working. Nice room to entertain in.
Bedrooms both have entrance into a bathroom- one has nice soaker jacuzzi tub and great towels ( does not have shower which we did not know.) That bedroom does have stack washer / dryer that works and open rod for hanging clothing. Would look nicer if there were curtains to close off those areas but are very functional. No lamp on the end table which would have helped but a high hat light in the corner of the room does provide some light. Second bedroom didn’t have a closet area but totally private bright bathroom with large walk-in shower that looks to possibly be ADA compatible . There was a bedside lamp in that room. Both rooms had high window well windows. Curtains did not quite cover windows but were ok.
Kitchen not heavily furnished but was ok and very cute. Did have a small coffee maker and some coffee. Dishwasher didn't look to work and was not secure in the cabinet so we didn’t use.
No directions / info in advance sent from owner but owner was pretty responsive to questions within a hour or so. Upstairs renting neighbor gave us wifi password which was nice the unit has wifi. Had access to Netflix, Prime etc.
Overall this is a cute unit that maybe is a self finished unit. There were a few non-finished things like the dishwasher, some non finished baseboards in the second bedroom, and an electric plug that had unfinished drywall. The thermostat could have been a game changer but worked out for us.
Located up a steep hill from historic area, restaurants etc.
Beautiful apartment in a quaint town. This was our third visit to Jim Thorpe and our first stay at Josephine's Apartment. Very spacious and updated apartment and so comfortable, walking distance to town was an added amenity!
Very nice place , loved the convenience to town, however I thought it was a standalone apartment it’s really bottom level of a house. The outside was in the process of being redone and will only add enhancement with a couple chairs to sit and have coffee and enjoy the view! However the outdoor motion detector lights did not come on at night and made it very difficult trying to carry an infant as it was completely dark. I would recommend adding the hardware to the kitchen cabinets and a couple amenities such as more glasses and an iron and ironing board, but overall a very nice place!
If it rained the whole time I was there. I would have been perfectly happy to stay inside the whole time. But it didn’t. We had three full days of adventures. The place was so nice to come home to at the end of each day. The view from the front door , windows and the area outside was real nice. I can’t text enough to fully explain how much I enjoyed staying there.
Perfect location, short walk to downtown. Close to everything. Laundry in apt., everything you could possibly need to make the stay amazing. Beds very comfortable. The only thing I would recommend is making outside pathway and steps to basement apartment safer and adding hardware to kitchen cabinets. I would be afraid of having someone who is elderly try to navigate the steps to apartment. Will def stay again.
Th apartment was large with open space great for a gathering of friends. The kitchen is new and well equipped with a large gas stove, dishes, silverware and glasses. Having 2 full bathrooms was a big plus except the whirlpool tub got water on the floor even when he water was filled correctly.
Also, I highly recommend fixing the concrete steps outside. They are an accident waiting to happen. The apartment is close to town but on a vet steep hill so if you have done physical limitations you may have to drive into town.
We were happy to see a recycling can on the property.
Communication was great, place was clean and well equipped. Location is all the way on top of the hill, so walking to town is not for everyone but it is doable. Only recommendation we have is to provide some new updated outdoor furniture and to fix the steps and walkway from parking lot to front door. It’s not safe and really needs to be addressed. Otherwise we had a blast and enjoyed our stay.
Josephine’s apartment was lovely and in a fabulous location in Jim Thorpe—close to everything. We enjoyed bike riding, hiking, train ride, window shopping in town and delicious breakfasts and dinners at local restaurants. The apartment was a great place to hang out and visit whenever we wanted to stay in and relax. The property owner was very kind and responsive. We would highly recommend this property!

About the host
Hosted by Patricia Palman
Outdoor person happy to point you in the right direction for a fun time. I have enjoyed everything that Jim Thorpe has to offer with my family for the past 20 years. My six kids are nature lovers. I moved to Jim Thorpe in 2019 after loosing my 13 year old daughter Josephine to DIPG brain cancer. Josephine was born in NYC and lived in NJ. She had a lust for life and loved Jim Thorpe as we visited so many times! She enjoyed its numerous trails, rafting trips, and biking paths. After Josephine’s passing in June of 2019, this town has allowed me to feel connected to her thru our immense love for nature. She is everywhere. Josephine would wish everyone to enjoy these mountains, lakes and rivers as much as she did, in the company of your love ones. Life is precious. Enjoy it.
