Our home is a cozy cabin tucked up a lane, which is unknown even unto most locals. Our family rescued this 1970's cabin and have brought it back to life. It has an inviting master with half bath, and a large second bedroom which, is spacious including a twin over double bunk bed and a twin with rails, that can be added to accommodate a younger child. The living area is open with a seating area and TV that can be seen from kitchen or dining as well. The walls are white pine tung and grove, and give a warm cozy feel. The kitchen is open to the dining, and leads to the sun room complete with a foosball table. We are surrounded by woodland fauna and deer are a regular sight. Coffee on the porch is a favorite for us. We also have a fire pit and outdoor seating. You can walk down the lane to our local convenience shop if you forgot anything, or if you just want to grab a homemade sandwich, burger or pizza. Our kids love walking down to pick from the ice cream treats. Roaring gap is nestled between Sparta and Elkin. Three golf courses are an easy drive away. Close to Stone mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway , and Camp Cheerio-- there is no end to the adventures you can have.

Was a very relaxing weekend. Cabin was clean and cozy. We had fun driving some of the back roads in our Jeep. Communication with the host was very good. A stay!
This is a beautiful, charming home! Since we left, our kids have asked 100 times to move into the "cozy cottage in the mountains." :)
It was very clean, organized, and tidy and we felt like we were truly able to escape! It was magical. We had such a relaxing time and the hosts were kind and welcoming and wonderful communicators.
The home had everything we needed and everything we wanted! We absolutely cannot wait to return and we are so grateful for their hospitality.
P.S. The makings for s'mores were a HUGE hit and they were gobbled up on night one! Very appreciated!
Excellent stay in a secluded house in the mountains! Well-stocked everything! Personal touch everywhere! S'mores were delicious! Stone Mountain state park is spectacular! Our stay here was like a dream!
Very clean , lots of other little surprises, well stocked kitchen, condiments, coffee, board games and if you forgot something, I bet you can find an extra at the place.. close to Stone Mountain Park ( must see!)and New River 35 minutes away... really enjoyed our stay.. hope to come back... easy to check in.. very comfortabel.
Wonderful place to stay. Kitchen was well equipped, beds were very comfortable. Would easily recommend to friends and family looking for a place to stay.
We booked this cabin very last minute when a forecast full of rain and cold temperatures made us decide to alter our plans for the last 3!days of our two week camping trip. Finding this cabin saved our vacation! Jennifer was a wonderful, responsive host, the cabin was immaculate and comfortable with everything we needed. Check in and check out we’re seamless. It was only ten minutes to Stone Mountain State Park, and during breaks in the weather we were still able to get in wonderful hikes. We will definitely stay here, again!
The owners have done an excellent job with this rental. You can tell they went the extra mile in every detail to make the guest fill welcome and at home. I highly recommend renting this property
This home is clean, spacious, & well-appointed by thoughtful & communicative hosts! We were right next door to beautiful Stone Mountain. We'd definitely stay again.
The host was easy to communicate with. Check in instructions were simple and clear. The property was just what we were looking for: secluded down a wooded and rhododendron filled dead end road. There was a convenience store just a short walk down the lane. 3 miles from a dollar store and only a short drive into town. We had family in Elkin and drove there daily. We love eating at the 67 Pizza buffet. The house is great. An older cottage but restored and decorated very tastefully. Still needs a few repair touches, like the second bedroom had a leak when it rained. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we could need for cooking and we fixed almost every meal at home. Well stocked with coffee and teas and seasonings and flour, sugar, butter etc. We cooked out one day for our family who lived there and then roasted marshmallows. There are board games and puzzles and great toys for the kids.
The enclosed porch was great for entertaining the kids with foosball. Overall it was a perfect place for our visit.
Everything was just as described. We want to visit here again. Our granddaughter loved it and played foosball for the first time ever. We enjoyed the fireplaces and outside fire roasting marshmallows.
My husband and I had a wonderful time here!!! So peaceful and quiet with a woodsy surround area. The cabin was extremely clean and inviting. The Smore’s Basket left by Jennifer and Foose table were added extras. You will definitely enjoy your stay here!!! Thanks again to our wonderful hosts!!!
We had a great time at Mt. Retreat. The house was very cute, clean and in a quite location. Jennifer was available if we needed anything. Definitely would recommend to others.

About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Patton
We are a bustling family with seven children. We have since added to our family. Our oldest daughter and husband have two little ones. We always wanted a place in the mountains to enjoy and share with friends and family. This cabin is the realization of that dream. We took an extremely distressed property and made it a cozy home away from home. Each member of the family took part in the restoration. We are happy to share our home with you as well. We hope you find it to be a “ retreat”.
Why they chose this property
There is something magical here. We can’t put our finger on it. It may be the mountains or the wonderful people or any number of things, but stress melts away and peace enters. You may even decide to move here...our first guests did!
