This light-filled, two-bedroom, two-bath apartment is perfectly located near the historic Place des Vosges. Extensively renovated, everything - from floor to ceiling and every point in between - has been thoroughly updated and maintained to a very high standard.

Tournelles2 pairs wonderful modern design with classic features reflecting the building's XIX century roots, and succeeds in being both elegant and comfortable. The apartment's parquet floors, high ceilings, tall windows, and beautiful moldings are lit by fabulous and fun chandeliers in the entry, kitchen, and living areas, and warmed by dramatic floor-to-ceiling draperies. It has been decorated and equipped thoughtfully, with many conveniences and amenities. Please read our guest comments to see how others have enjoyed this apartment.


The apartment: Tournelles2 has a wonderful layout (see photos below), with well thought out public and private areas. The light streams in from two sides through tall French windows, highlighting the openness of the sleek and well-equipped kitchen, spacious dining area, and inviting living room. The two bedrooms, each with en suite baths, are positioned for privacy. Classic modern furniture is balanced by original fabrics and colorful art work. And, when night falls, the lovely lighting and furnishings provide incentive to dine in - even though the area’s many wonderful cafes and restaurants will beckon.

Tournelles2 is on the first floor French (second floor American), easily accessible by a wide and gently curved staircase. It, of course, comes with every amenity - flat screen TV with cable, phone with free calling to 28 countries, washer/dryer, free WiFi, heated towel racks, etc.

The amenities: In addition, the apartment comes with its own off-site manager, a wonderful and knowledgeable Parisian fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian. In addition to making sure Apartment Tournelles2 is beautifully cleaned and ready for your arrival. She can assist you in emergencies, and will check the apartment's condition after you leave. We (the owners) come at least twice a year and make sure the apartment stays in tip-top shape.

Le Marais: The neighborhood: Tournelles2 is in the midst of the Marais, one of Paris's most historic, most beautiful, and most desirable neighborhoods. From French history to French chic, the Marais has it all. The Marais is also a gourmet's delight—the apartment is near several of Paris’ best open air markets and specialty food stores, and within easy walking of a wide range of dining choices. To help you get acquainted, Apartment Tournelles2 is equipped with numerous guidebooks and maps, as well as information on our favorite places to shop, eat, and sight see in the neighborhood. We provide a complete binder with directions on how to use all of the appliances, lots of neighborhood resources, and general Paris information.

Spacious and convenient holiday apartment

The apartment's location close to Place des Vosges is one of the reasons we selected it, but we weren't aware of the benefits of being so close to Blvd Beaumarchais and its amazing farmers market on Sundays and Thursdays. The apartment itself is laid out perfectly for a small family, with the 2 bedrooms separated by the kitchen and living room, and each with its own bathroom - a rarity in Paris! The beds are comfortable with plenty of pillows and the apartment stayed at a comfortable temperature throughout the day and night despite the outside hovering close to freezing. The manager is delightful and very helpful but was pressed for time when we arrived since our flight was delayed, so we didn't have time to review how everything worked. But she was always available to answer our few questions by phone. The TV was a little challenging but we only watched it a few minutes at night recovering from the day; it has capability of streaming subscription services, so come prepared with how to cast from your phone for viewing familiar American shows, if you want that. The kitchen was sparely supplied with kitchen tools, but adequate for most cooking, and the stove and oven worked well. Water temperature and pressure in the apartment are excellent, and wifi was consistent and reliable. Despite the proximity of bustling Blvd Beaumarchais, the apartment was quiet at night and we rarely saw or heard any of the neighbors. We would stay here again!

Disappointing

Big disappointment. While in a good location, and possibly nice once, the current dilapidated condition of the apt cast a dark shadow over our trip. It’s listed as “thoroughly updated and maintained to a very high standard,” but this is false. The place is shabby and needs significant repairs and upgrades. The paint is peeling; the furniture is worn and uncomfortable with sagging, stained cushions. The bathrooms are in terrible shape. There is mildew/mold on the shower tile; the bathroom fixtures are old and degrading and the sinks do not drain. The bedlinens are old, threadbare and some grossly stained; the towels are also old and thin. The apartment was not clean when we arrived. We found dust on the floor, crumbs on the counter, and hair on the bathroom floor, among other things. The kitchen sink cabinet where the garbage is had clearly not been cleaned in ages; food from previous renters was in the sink and dishwasher drains and the refrigerator. Old shopping bags were piled on top of the bedroom armoire. We cleaned for an hour our first day just to feel comfortable. During our visit the vestibule and hallways were being scraped and painted. The place was a dustbowl; the hosts knew but did not disclose it; not ok for people with asthma and allergies. The hosts tried to charge us to repair the broken washing machine they left us, but VRBO did the right thing and fully reimbursed us. You can do better, look around.

Perfect gem of an apartment

My stay in Paris was perfect! The apartment is in a spectacular part of the city, close to cafes, boulangères, pâtisseries, and shopping. I started everyday with a croissant in the Place de Vosges, all within a moments walk. The apartment had enough room for me and my guests (easily accommodates 4) and was well appointed so that it felt like home. Will definitely recommend!!

Our Paris Gem

We are two couples both of whom had recently celebrated our 55th wedding anniversaries and wanted an apartment that had a spacious sitting room, with two bedrooms and bathrooms, laundry facilities, and a good kitchen. We looked for a neighbourhood close to things, but with fewer tourists and a sense of community. We found this lovely apartment in the Marais, and we all loved it. We did have a problem with the heat in one bedroom the first night, but we contacted the property manager who was pleasant and efficient, and brought us a portable heater until a man came to fix the radiator the next day. There is one set of stairs, but we were all able to manage them fine. The apartment was well equipped, tastefully furnished, and quite charming. We loved the location, enjoyed shopping for our food in the local grocery store, and eating a few times is local restaurants. We especially liked a nearby one called Trois Rivières which specialized in Creole food. We would recommend this accommodation to people who want to enjoy the many amazing sites of Paris, but who love to have a home base that really does feel like a home.

A hidden gem

In a little street on the border of the 3rd and 11th arrondissements is Chez Nous. On the first floor of an old building the flat is nicely set out with two bedrooms a good sized galley kitchen and all the necessary bits to make your stay comfortable. While not without some quirks (second loo is in with the washing machine) it was perfect for us and our six week stay. It is very close to the metro(Chemin Vert) and a number of great restaurants like Chez Jannou the Soon Grill and a great tapas and paella place. No review of the flat would be complete without a shout out to Amele the property manager Extrodinaire. Nothing was too hard or too small. Would highly recommend this flat.

The apartment was fine but some of the amenities were quite poor - the tv was tiny (ie computer monitor size) and we couldn't receive any channels at all, so basically non-existent and the wifi was completely hopeless. The dryer doesn't actually dry clothes so be prepared to hang them around the apartment. It's also very noisy outside at night. I expected the apartment be centrally located in Le Marais which it was not so it was quite a walk to the main area although the local area had a great coffee place and bakery so that was lovely. The kitchen was big and fresh although we didn't really use the appliances apart from the fridge. Overall it was ok but needs a freshen up and much better tv and wifi.

A Jewel in the Marais

This 2 BR 2 Bath apartment is perfect for 2 couples. Enough space to spread out and very comfortable. The location, IMO, is unparalleled. One block off the Beaumarchais with a metro station within steps. The bakery on the corner opens at 7 am with warm croissants and baguettes. Local sidewalk cafes are abundant. Two of our favorites, Chez Janou and La Petitte Marche are about 2 minutes away. You need a reservation for Chez Janou so don't call them, walk down the street and speak with they staff and they will accommodate you. When we arrived the apartment was clean and neat. However the building was undergoing some renovation on the outside. (It's over now) but it created some distracting noise and dust. The owners we very accommodating as we explained the issue to them and I might add communications with the owners in the USA and their local representative was outstanding. We love Paris. This apartment was perfect and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

Excellent property

Property was just as described. Very prompt communication from the owners. The property is just a few steps away from a metro station and another is less than 5 minutes away by foot. There is an excellent boulangerie just down the street, and there are many, many restaurants nearby, easily within walking distance. The property is not in the very central part of the Marais, more on the outskirts (though the "heart" was all within a ~10 minute or less walk). This was probably an advantage in some ways, as the apartment was quiet and without significant street noise at night. There was plenty of room for four of us. Having two showers and two toilets was a huge advantage and seems relatively hard to find in a two bedroom apartment. I would absolutely recommend considering this property for someone looking to stay in Paris.

We love the location and the apartment. The Paris apartment is a real 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit. The concierge Amele is great and very helpful with any questions we had. Would definitely stay again and this is already our 3rd month long stay since 2016.

Great spot for work and play

I had the opportunity to work remotely for six weeks, and this apartment was perfect for doing just that. I stayed in this apartment with my mother in law and five year old daughter. The location was perfect for getting out to see the sights in the morning and then I could close myself into a bedroom to work in the afternoon while my MIL and daughter played in the living room. We loved the setup of the apartment, as well as the proximity to grocery stores, boulangeries, restaurants, and even several museums. On the rare occasion we had questions, the owners were very responsive and helpful. We had an amazing trip thanks to our experiences with the owners and this wonderful apartment.

Comfortable Marais apartment

Very comfortable for two couples. Clean, spacious, centrally located, in a charming neighborhood. Note that the toilet for the second bedroom is in the laundry room, not ensuite. Very enjoyable stay for a month.

WONDERFUL apartment!

We spent 5 weeks at this wonderful apartment. The location is perfect; it is well situated in the Marais, but also very close to the 10th as well, lots of great food shopping and restaurants nearby (Les Enfants Rouges is a 5 minute walk away, as is the Richard Lenoir market) We knew from the picture on the website that it was beautifully decorated, and it was more spacious than we were expecting with very comfortable beds, comfortable living area, nice hot showers with good water pressure, and a kitchen that most Parisians only dream about. Amele was very friendly and gracious support, although we really hardly even had any reason to ask about anything- things were very easy to figure out, and every communication we had with Cathy & Pam was clear, and helpful and prompt. We could not have asked for a better stay!

My niece and I enjoyed this flat over the Christmas holiday- its the perfect location for gift and food shopping as well as taking in all the sights of Paris. Amele was so helpful to us in settling in….cannot thank her enough. The layout of the flat was perfect for time together and for some privacy during our extended time together. Recommend highly!

Perfect in every way!

The property, the owners, and the manager are generous and gracious which made for a lovely stay. Over the years we have rented four Marais apartments, and this one is by far the most spacious. The floor plan is perfect for couples or family with the bedrooms on opposite sides of the living space. My initial contact was with Cathy, the owner, who was prompt with her responses, forthcoming with information, and a great communicator (and seems lovely). Amele, the Paris contact, is just as lovely--helpful, witty, and gracious. The apartment was equipped with everything we needed, and I was a particular fan of the pillows--strange comment I know, but great pillows and comfortable linens made for a very restful three weeks in Tournelles 2 which in turn allowed us to roam all over Paris for a perfect vacation. Thank you, Cathy and Adele.

An Outstanding Time

Very clean apartment with an amazing view. The Food Market appears twice a week, it is so worth it! The Metro stop is close by, could Not be more convenient! Can’t recommend this place any higher. Location, location, location. Plenty of restaurants and bakeries within walking distance but get reservations.

A Gem in the Marais

Excellent location in the Marais. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, markets, metro and of course the Place des Vosges. Very comfortable apartment for four adults. Two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. (One bedroom slightly larger than the other). One bathroom with shower/tub, sink, toilet. One bathroom with shower and sink. Outside of this bedroom is the toilet and it is located in a laundry/utility room. This was not a problem for a short period of time. Some apartments only have one toilet for two bedrooms so this is a plus. Living space was very comfortable. We were in Paris during a heat wave. The ACs in the bedrooms worked very well. Lots of windows in the kitchen/living area which provided an abundance of natural light and a nice breeze for this space. The apartment does face the street side of the building which was noisy at times. We didn’t mind this at all, but if you require a quieter space opt for the sister apartment next door. Communication with the owners and the managing agent was excellent. They have gone great distances to make your stay pleasurable. They put together a book with great info on the apartment, the area, and many services you may need. We’ve rented many apartments in the Marais and was excited to come back to this one a second time.

Summer vacation

We loved our stay. The manager Ámele was great and explained everything to us when we arrived. Pam and Cathy were very responsive to our questions. The apartment was situated just right for us. Their recommendations for French bread was right on! Would definitely look to stay here again. We will miss those open big windows in the living room.

The best place in Paris

We absolutely loved our time here. Perfect location near everything Marais has to offer. The apartment is spacious with big windows, two ample bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and AC in both bedrooms. The property manager, Amele, is also just about the most helpful person you could ask for. Our one year old toddler came down with an ear infection and fever during our stay there and we were having trouble navigating the healthcare system to find a doctor to look at her and prescribe antibiotics. Amele went above and beyond and didn't only help us but called just about every doctor around trying to find someone who could see us last-minute since our trip was due to end the next day. Just cannot recommend highly enough.

Wonderful apartment!

The setup of the apartment was perfect for 2 couples. A bedroom and bathroom for each couple with the living area in between. Just as nice as pictured , clean, well stocked with what we needed. We loved the location- easy walk to the boulangerie in the morning, close to restaurants, shops, and very convenient for the metro and bus stops - but still in a residential neighborhood that made us feel at home. Amele made sure our checkin worked out. We would love to stay here again in the future! Thank you Catherine for a wonderful stay!

We were two couples staying for a week in this lovely apartment. Everything was just as described. The showers were great, and the beds very comfortable. The living room was bright and the kitchen a delight! We will definitely stay here again.

Two San Francisco families own this beautiful apartment and its adjacent 'sister'. We manage this and our adjacent apartment ourselves with the help of a wonderful Parisian friend.

We traveled to Paris in the winter of 2006 to research buying property, and came home 10 days later as Paris apartment owners. Our dream is to live in Paris, and having these apartments get us one step closer to that. We renovated, decorated, and equipped these apartments based on our prior experiences with vacation rentals in the US and Europe, and hope that you will enjoy all of the amenities and small touches that we have provided. We travel to Paris as often as we can to make sure the apartments stay in top shape. Our goal is to give you a wonderful place to stay, and have you love Paris as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We love the Marais...it is central to everything, yet retains a neighborhood feel. We love walking out the door and being steps away from fabulous bakeries, restaurants, museums, and great shopping. Paris is a great walking city, and our apartment provides easy access to so much of it. We also love the location because the Paris Metro (subway system) is so close and so easy to use. We also love the Marais because of its history and diversity...from the elegant Place des Vosges to rue des Rosiers' Jewish delis to rue des Archives' gay friendly bars and stores---everyone can feel at home in the Marais.

What makes this property unique

Some of our favorite things to do revolve around cooking and eating! We love being just across the street from the twice-weekly Bastille farmers market, and within easy walking distance to two other historic markets on rue des Bretagnes and at Place d'Aligre. And we can never stay at our place and not stop for a meal at Chez Janou, a block away, making sure we save room for their incredible bowl of chocolate mousse! We also love that a short walk takes us to and across the Seine, to Notre Dame and the Left Bank, and never get tired of window shopping along rue des Francs Bourgeois' chic boutiques,or walking under Place des Vosges' magnificent arches.

Our other favorite past time is exploring Paris' various neighborhoods or arrondisements. The fact that we're so close to the 2nd, 4th, 10th, 11th, and 12th facilitates our 'expeditions.'
