Great Basecamp for SNP Hiking Trip

We spent 2 wonderful weeks at this cabin as our basecamp for an early spring hiking trip in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. Very private & quiet location, yet only 10 minutes to town & 15 minutes to the Swift Run entrance to Skyline Drive. Consists of the original cabin plus a new "couples suite". Great amenities including creek-side picnic area, new hot tub, fire pit, gas or charcoal BBQ, etc. Interior decor is reminiscent of an Alpine chalet. Owners are very helpful & responsive. Highly recommended.

Fall break awesomeness

Fantastic place to stay! So much to do in this VRBO! Loved hearing the water from the creek, wonderful fire pit with lights and s’mores, big projector for movies, hot tub after day hikes in Shenandoah, corn hole, tons of games and fun record player to listen to old music. Well appointed house with lovely decorations.

Amazing home!

Located in a secluded area with a creek running through it, this place was perfect! The projector was really fun to use to watch movies at night. We sat by a fire on the creek. The hot tub was clean and lovely to use after a day hiking at the nearby Shenandoah NP. The home is well stocked, cozy and beautifully decorated. The addition had amazing views from the window to watch nature as you wake up. I would stay again! Thanks for having us!

This was a great to place to stay with our family. Lots of space, beautiful scenery, wonderful hiking trails at the National Park. Loved listening to the barred owls and whippoorwills in the screened in porch at night. We would highly recommend this place. Excellent communication with host as well.

great mountain cabin

I loved the home for our family trip with my husband and I, our 2 adult kids, 2 dogs and my parents. Having the private outbuilding was a nice way to remove the dogs from everyone at night to sleep with us. The loft is not as usable as I would have liked. My son was supposed to sleep up there but his 6 foot self could barely get up the spiral stair case. Our much shorter daughter, 5'4" had to sleep with her feet hanging off the bed. Also, It didn't occur to me when looking at the pics, but there is not a mountain view, but it is a beautiful wooded lot that is very private. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked and we loved the screened in porch for all our meals. I have a hard time figuring layouts from pictures, so here it is. Main house - king side bed, room with 2 twins, and loft that is only for young ones and 1.5 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, laundry. The outbuilding, queen size bed, full bath, nespresso and small living room and the TV- didn't use it so no idea how that works. Overall, love the house, had a great relaxing time and would do it again. Especially loved being able to bring the pups.

Beautiful house in a lovely, bucolic setting

We had a marvelous time here, relaxing, listening to the birds, wading in the stream, hiking in nearby Shenandoah National Park, riding bikes provided by the host. The house is extremely well appointed, very pretty, and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

We used this as home base for our stay to celebrate our JMU graduate. Comfortable and spacious. Would be a great location to get away and recharge. Wished we had more time to enjoy the natural surroundings. Owners were very responsive to any questions we had.

Perfect cabin in the woods

The cabin was the perfect location for a weekend reunion with our friends. It is secluded enough so you feel miles away from civilization but SNP and breweries are a short drive away. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The kitchen was very well appointed. The screened in porch is the perfect place to unwind. We loved the decor and could tell a lot of thought went into the design. The s’mores welcome bag was a great surprise and we enjoyed them around the fire pit the night we arrived. Excellent communication with Alex! We look forward to staying here again!

An unbelievable Valley getaway

This property is amazing. I cannot overstate enough how comfortable it was for my family and myself. The beds were very comfortable, the space clean and so so accommodating, like you can tell someone spends time there and cares about the space and what's available. We had a blast with the kayaks and the kitchen was incredible, the huge bean bag in the living room lent itself to many naps too. The outdoor space was perfect, not too many bugs, and we enjoyed most evenings outside playing games and hanging around the fire with our pups. I definitely plan to return to this rental and cannot wait for the day that can happen. We love this place!!

One of the best cabins in Virginia

From the moment you enter this cabin you can tell that the owner takes good care of the property. It has comfortable furniture, clean rooms, and is a beautiful cabin overall. The property is secluded but still very close to stores, breweries, and other local attractions. I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely Awesome

I wanted somewhere that I literally did not get service as my work is always so busy. You can still text here, but no phone calls! The property is beautiful, and there is so much to do that we truly needed about 3 weeks! My three kids loved it, and it was nice to hang out with them with no distractions! Thanks Alex.

Peace and Quite

We came out for a little RNR, the cabin was amazing! We felt very secluded and kind of in our little world. There's plenty to do if you don't even want to leave the cabin! Our dog enjoyed creek days and relaxing on the screened in porch. It was just the two of us so we stayed in the addition because its absolutely beautiful (the king bed should be in there lol) my 6ft spouse squeezed into the queen bc we just couldn't pass up staying on that side! There are so many breweries close we hit about 8-9 of them. As a beer lover I figured that was the best way to spend his birthday weekend !! The drive in thru the woods and checking out the creek along the way was so peaceful! We enjoyed not having service and getting away from all the noise. Some mention-able things magpies diner for brunch amazing, billy jacks shack sticky nuggs to die for, hanks grille best meal we had ! I'd say Elkton Brewery and Three Notch'd Brewing were our fav breweries! Again the house in itself was just amazing that's how we based our whole trip. We could have just stayed there the whole time and been happy !! We hope to be back in the future! Again thanks for having us

A relaxing retreat

We really enjoyed staying at this cabin. The hosts were amazing and responsive and went out of their way to make the house feel our home away from home. It was a perfect place to let the kids run, play in the river, and disconnect. We had limited service and internet and it was perfect for a weekend to enjoy screen porch sitting, crawfish hunting, and lightning bug watching. The additional cabin is a great spot and the house has plenty of space to have a group. We enjoyed Elkton Brewery one evening and were a short drive to anything we needed. We would definitely rent again!

Hidden Gem!!

This cabin is a special place! Located in a lovely, secluded area, it's a great place for a quick weekend getaway. It's very close to Skyline drive, local breweries and wineries, and hiking trails. We were there for a girls hiking weekend and even with rainy weather we had a great time. If I could give the owners 10 stars for communication, I would. They work very hard to make sure their guests are comfortable. We will be back!! The access road winds back and forth across a beautiful creek. On the day we arrived there was a significant rain event (2+ inches in a few hours) and there was water over a bridge that is in need of some repairs. All bridges were eventually passable, but we had to wait in town for several hours. The owners were fantastic communicators throughout and ultimately it just added to our weekend adventure. It rained again on the morning of our departure, and there were no problems at all. However, until the bridge is repaired (summer 2023) you may want to check with owners about condition of the road before you arrive - especially after a rain storm.

This property had everything we needed for a beautiful stay and a home base for Shenandoah National Park.It was the perfect size for the 2 of us and our small dog that we brought with us. It was cozy, beautiful, immaculate, and had everything we needed. It would be perfect as well if you had kids with you or an extra couple with you. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

Wonderful place!

We had an amazing time at this property, and Alex was the perfect host. The house was beautiful and the design was amazing. There were so many cool details everywhere, and it was very comfortable. We got a “ski lodge” feeling and it was a perfect getaway from our everyday life. The fire pit was perfect for s’mores and for hanging out in the evening. The location is great and it was easy to get to the Shenandoah National Park. We would love to return!

What a great get-away

We had a girls weekend at the cabin and it was a wonderful place. The cabin was a super cool chic vibe. Seemed like everything had been renovated and the bedroom extension was beautiful and huge. The bathroom in the addition has huge windows that really brings the nature feel into the house. Yes, there are blinds - if you want to shut them ; ) The location was perfect - the peace & quiet of the deep woods but yet very accessible to the "real world". They have thought of everything - games, music, cooking tools, comfy seating, cozy blankets and pillows, books, etc. Plus lots of hooks and places to put your things. The creek is just a few steps away and the fire pit adds to the list of activities. We went to a near by vineyard, went to a lavender farm and enjoyed some peace and quiet in the woods. Our hosts were very accessible and answered a lot of questions from our crew. We had a great time and will go back for sure.

Perfect weekend getawat

We (6 adults) stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfect! The road leading to the cabin is a little windy but you have everything you need at the cabin. The kitchen is well stocked and there is a grill. We used the tubes to drive to the Island Ford put in spot to go floating down the river nearby. At night we grilled, made fires, and just hung out. The owners are very quick to respond and there is a binder with lots of helpful information. We did not have cell service there, but the wifi was strong enough for us all to use it. Everyone in my group was sad to leave, but hopefully we'll be back at the cabin sometime!
