Best place ever! Super extra perks

The house was amazing-lots of space. The kayaks, paddle boat, boogie boards, fishing boat, floats, etc was so beyond! Wish the garbage set up was better as it was full and felt bad about leaving ours piled on top. Host was very nice and let us know before hand that we needed to pick up toilet paper and paper towels. The scenery was spectacular; the loons were gracious and noisy , the swimming off the point was great because swimming off the shore wasn’t ideal

Great place to stay

We were here for a family reunion and this cottage was a great place to be. There’s plenty of room to be able to gather all together as well as several smaller sitting areas for quieter conversations or other activities. There’s an absolutely beautiful view of the lake from the enclosed sunroom and deck. It was especially wonderful in the mornings and evenings to be able to sit in the sunroom with the windows open and listen to the loons. And, the sunsets were magnificent! A very nice stay. We would definitely rent this property again.

Tube Run

Michael's property was absolutely perfect for our family's annual tune run! close enough to town to quickly get supplies but far enough away that it still felt secluded. the whole house fan kept the inside breezy and cool, and the sunroom was where we spent most of our time while there. we enjoyed plenty of ping pong and billiards on the very cool 50's table in the basement. there were several kayaks at our disposal, along with a paddle and row boat which also saw ample use. arriving was slightly confusing as the address numbers are about 25 yards before you reach the actual property, but we quickly realized we just have to go a bit further down the drive. parking wasn't especially obviously marked, but was certainly ample once we determined where to do so. there were a few holes in the sunroom screens that let insects in, but we were able to keep more than half of them open which kept the house sufficiently fresh. Michael's communication was prompt, gracious, and polite, and he accommodated all of our needs with pleasure! 9.8/10, would absolutely recommend!

fish camp

Our groups yearly get together was a great time. We have been gathering once a year for the past 25+plus years. This year we stayed at this location, and it checked all of the boxes; quiet neighborhood, abundant wildlife, and lots of fish. We would definitely book again! Thanx, Michael

Spacious getaway with beautiful view

Lots of spaces to spread out. The view is beautiful from the sun room and the dock. It was very hot and humid the week we were there and AC is only in the living room but there are fans and an exhaust fan upstairs and the evenings cooled things down.

Great Family Vacation

Had a great time . Plenty of room for adults. Plenty of rooms and beds. Loved the separate sitting areas and plenty of tables for different activities going on. Tvs in most rooms and game room in basement. Loved the enclosed porch sitting area. We spent most of the time in this area with an amazing view of the lake. Home very clean and cozy, has everything you need.

Great place to relax

We had a great two weeks at Michael’s place. It’s on a relatively quiet lake that has comfortable accommodations, good fishing, views of the lake, and wildlife, including a nesting pair of loons that we saw and heard every day. Nearby Rose City has hardware and grocery stores, and Rifle River State Park is just a few miles down the road, between the cottage and Rose City. Lake Huron beaches are about 45 minutes away. The owner was very friendly and made sure our needs were met. We would visit this place again.

Big property, beautiful view

Upon arrival Michael was there, and able to give us a tour. He was a great host, and was easy to get a hold of. He even recommended local activities. This property is large, with lots of room for kids to run and play. There was not 1 day where the kids weren't playing on the water. They loved the kayaks the best. The fishing was also great almost every evening. The 4 bedrooms were roomy with plenty of sleeping space. Michael had just put double bunks in the one room. There was always a breeze coming off the lake, which allowed us to leave the windows open and enjoy the fresh air. In the basement the pool table was a large source of enjoyment for the whole family. With the walkout basement we could sit outside even during the rain. There were plenty of towels and blankets. With the on site washer and dryer, we were able to keep up on the swimwear/beach towels. This is a great property, we will be back.

Get back to nature in comfort

We loved our time on Ausable Lake! The house was comfy and well-stocked with things we might have forgotten. The view was incredible: like being in the UP without the drive. A quiet lake with plenty of wildlife including beaver, osprey, loons every morning and evening, fish, frogs, turtles, dragonflies and damselflies. Once we saw the property and the boats (3 kayaks, a paddle boat and a row boat) we scrapped our plans to venture out with the exception of a day at the beach in Tawas. The kids practiced paddling for hours without fear of boats in the little cove and within view of the dock. We even found a sandy shallow spot across the lake for wading; not too far for kids to paddle. My only compliant is that I had to reach out to ask for check in instructions as they were not posted or sent to me prior. Otherwise, the owner was very attentive and quick to respond to messages.

What a view!

I am a fourth generation Au Sable Lake family member and was only familiar with this end of the lake from fishing. The house on the hill has a spectacular view from fog in the morning to loons and deer in the evening. The house is typical Up North eclectic - not fancy but roomy and comfortable. We could have family visit by pontoons due to the sizable dock. It was a typical Michigan week ranging from 36 to 93 degrees but there were space heaters available and A/C in the central room. We used the paddle boat and kayaks. The owner, Michael, was on the property when we arrived and reachable for questions. We cooked most meals on site., including outdoor grilling. The kitchen was well supplied with basic needs. Mostly we relaxed in the large front room with the spectacular view.

RUN AWAY. Don’t book

I’m writing this in regards to our disaster of a stay at Michael’s property. Before our trip Michael stated that the heat upstairs was not working it’s mid November it’s cold. I requested a discount for the inconvenience. He agreed to take off the cost of the cleaning fee(This fee has still not been reimbursed). When we arrived to the property on Friday evening, We discovered a leaking ceiling in the back bedroom with the bed soaked and the upstairs bathroom not working. Called Michael who had a neighbor come help who stopped the ceiling from leaking. The property is also listed as 4 bathrooms on the listing. Which is inaccurate, there are only 2.5 bathrooms and we only had one full bath to use for showering between 8 people... Sunday afternoon we lost power. The house has an electric stove and electric well for water supply. Meaning we had no furnace, no water, no way to prepare meals, bathe, see, charge phones for emergencies, no service, and no wifi. Called Michael thinking maybe he had some insight on how long the outage would be. His word for word reaction was “yep, it happens” and stated it was typically days before it comes back on. It is fall, sunset is 5pm and sunrise is 8am. Over twelve hours in the dark is not realistic. there was no apology, no attempt to reconcile the situation, but condescendingly stated that I “should get over my fear” and use his wood burning (that he states smokes up the house if you don’t light it slow) because “you have little ones to keep warm”. He maintained a rude demeanor throughout the entire phone conversation and I hung up feeling so belittled. Keeping warmth is only a solution to one of the many problems no electricity created. No solution to cooking, no phone service without wifi, no running water as it’s an electric well, no light to see. Staying on the property was not feasible. We felt no choice but to pack up and return home disappointed on Sunday evening when we had booked through to Tuesday with no refund. What was meant to be a rejuvenating time away has caused me so much grief.

Great stay!

We loved our long weekend get away at Michael’s property. We had a party of 5 and have a few recommendations during your stay: -drive to the Iargo Springs (~30 minute drive) and hike to Lumberman’s monument (roughly 7 miles roundtrip) -kayak to the little Au Sable river yo the creek from Michael’s property. It’s an uninhabited body of water with tons of wildlife! -The water around the dock isn’t the best for swimming, but there is a sandbar in the channel that you can kayak to -if you’re from downstate, make sure that you have a campfire and check out the stars! -property is dog friendly, but Michael did say he has a weight limit (125 lbs). I had to message him because the listing is a bit contradictory. -long lake is right down the road, but we did not visit. It seems much more populated and a good waterskiing, tuning, swimming, etc lake. -rifle River is right down the road and has good day hikes Overall, a great stay! Michael did stay on the property one night, so it was nice to have him show us around. He is very kind and has a lot of good recommendations!

Great Vacation Property

This is a great property for a relaxing up-north vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and our Lab enjoyed running around the property and swimming in the lake. The house had everything we needed to enjoy our trip and the kayaks and paddle boat were available for our use. Michael made the check-in process very easy and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely rent this property again and will be sure to tell our friends about it. Thanks again to Michael for a great place to stay.
