About this property
Private Enclave - Walking Distance to Plaza 5 Beds-5 1/2 Baths - Hot Tub
Imagine a private enclave within a short walk to the town of Sonoma, where your view is lush hills and old oak trees. This casual wine country property is all about enjoying what Sonoma has to offer plus privacy, privacy, privacy. Located just a few blocks from the Historic Town Plaza, this large, secluded property, in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country, will provide your group with everything you need to make your stay wonderful, relaxing, and memorable.
Exterior
As you pass through the tall rock wall and old wooden doors you will immediately understand how special this property is and be transformed into serenity. Two sides of the property have high rock and wood walls that separate you from any viewers and provide you the privacy. The other two sides of the property are part of the Sonoma Open Space area. The gardens are planted with native plants like rosemary, lavender, heritage olive trees, flowering vines and populated with beautiful old oak trees. Just past the entrance, in the large, landscaped front area of the property, there is a heated dipping pool and outside seating area. As you move through the pathway to the house there are multiple areas to explore and enjoy as well as places to sit and relax on the veranda porch or within the stone and plant landscapes. At the back of the property the patio area is a beautiful place to grill and sit down for dinner or enjoy a glass of wine or morning coffee and view the local hills. There is easy access to the kitchen from this area through huge sliding doors. You get a general feeling of indoor/outdoor living. Also, on this property is a hot tub.
Interior – Main House
The foundation of the main house, which once belonged to General Vallejo, who was one of the largest landowners in California, was built in 1837. However, the entire house has been beautifully, and painstakingly, remodeled in the last few years and brought back to its original style, with all the up-to-date and comforts we have become accustomed to expecting. Every window in the house opens and offers relaxing views of the property and the surrounding hills.
There are three bedrooms in the main house. The two downstairs queen bedrooms have in-suite bathrooms, yet the bedrooms are far enough away from each other to offer privacy. The third bedroom is an upstairs king with an in-suite and working fireplace. The views from this room are of the entire property.
The large dining room can easily sit 10+ people and the house with all the dishes and cutlery and wine glasses you will need to serve your group. The large professional kitchen, with top-of-the-line appliances, is equipped with everything your group will need to show off their culinary skills. Or, if you feel so inclined, use our recommended chef, and enjoy food prepared from fresh locally grown ingredients and great Sonoma wines. The main living room, decorated with comfortable antique and period pieces, has a working fireplace, a player piano, and a large screen cable TV.
Guest Cottages (2)
Secluded and private studios, within a few steps of the main house, have relaxing views and outside sitting areas. Each cottage, one with a queen and one with a king bed, has full bathrooms and kitchenettes with a microwave, refrigerator, sink and coffee maker.
Sonoma Style
With the lively town of Sonoma just moments away, you can experience the best of what wine country has to offer in your own private getaway. Walk to the Plaza, enjoy the old adobe storefronts, meandering alleyways, historic landmarks, acclaimed restaurants, and wine tasting rooms, spas, cafes, boutiques, art galleries, vintage movie theater, vast town square lawn with picnic, playground equipment and the Tuesday night seasonal farmer's market.
After enjoying the day in Sonoma, visiting the wineries, hiking along the scenic trails (trail head across the street), just sit outside and enjoy more wine and cheese before deciding which of the great restaurants you can walk to, or chef prepared dinner. Or visit our local gourmet Sonoma Market and bring dinner home.
The main house and guest cottages all have high quality linens and towels, air conditioning, heating and WIFI. There is a washer and dryer in the basement of the main house.
