The cottage was very clean, and a perfect blend of old and new in the decor. We appreciated the close proximity to the State Park, and Lake Huron.

Cottage Life in East Tawas

The little blue cottage was very nice, it was clean, comfy and it had everything I needed for a long holiday weekend on the point in East Tawas. It's a short walk to the beautiful beach, the State Park, the lighthouse, the marina and short drive to the cute little downtown. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone is very friendly. Jim and Denise, my hosts, were easy to communicate with and made sure I had everything I needed. I will be back for sure!

Wonderful vacation home!

Home was spotless and located in lovely neighborhood. Easy bike ride to Tawas State Park and into Tawas on the paved bike trail. Surrounding beaches are Sandy and the water is clean. We will definitely stay again.

Tawas Vacation

We have rented Vrbo properties several times, and this cabin was the best by far. The house was very clean and well-equipped. The neighborhood was quiet and the location was perfect as we were able to walk to Tawas State Park.

Great Cottage for a getaway

We had a great time at this cottage. It was very clean and fully stocked with everything you need for your getaway. Just a short walk to the beach and a very quiet location. Owners were great to deal with and checked in to make sure everything was going okay with our stay. Highly recommend this cottage.

Quiet cottage stay 2023

Tawas State Park and the local beaches are my favorite. This is within walking distance of the park and in a very quiet neighborhood. Lots to see in town, good food and lots to explore in the area. Much less crowded it think than the west side of the state.

Just what we needed

We wanted a place to stay on Tawas Point, near to our family’s other cottages for a family reunion. This put us just a short walk away. And, as others have said in a quiet community with easy access to the lake, state park, town, and other area attractions. All the communication with Denise was quick and easy. The cottage was well equipped and shiny clean. We would definitely stay there again!

Tawas Point Stay

The home was clean and updated and centrally located to the beach and the downtown area. The owners greeted us upon our arrival and texted to ensure our needs were met during our stay. We also enjoyed the fire pit. The homes sleeps 4 comfortably with a small adult child on the couch for a possible 5th person. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to future visitors.

Tawas Point getaway

Lovely little cabin that is well appointed. The neighborhood is very quiet. It has a nice patio/deck with table/chairs that I found very nice to sit and have coffee and read to start the day. It is located a couple of miles from Tawas City but I found it to be a benefit to be away from hustle and bustle of a tourist area. However there is plenty to do in the area with nice bike paths and river kayaking in Oscoda.

Relaxing weekend

The cottage was cute and clean. We enjoyed the location and quietness of the neighborhood. The fire pit was a nice touch. We enjoyed evening bonfires after spending the day at the state park. Denise was an attentive host. She checked in with me to make sure we had everything we needed. The only complaint was the beds need to be upgraded. They were hard to get in and out of because of the extremely soft and thick mattress topper. New mattresses would make this rental great. Overall, it was a nice experience.

Cute cozy cabin

First off, I must mention how CLEAN this property was. The location is great. Just outside of town enough but also close enough if you have to run to Walmart or a gas station. The beds were comfy and the AC was cold! The updated appliances were fantastic. The kitchen had everything we needed! It was awesome to have a washer and dryer to use so we could come home with clean clothes. The firepit was great. Above all, the communication with the owners was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for better people to deal with. There is a different kitchen table and living room couch and loveseat than what's shown in the pictures. I'd definitely like to return here again.

Wonderful! Couldn't be happier !

Property is wonderfully clean! The fire pit was by far our favorite part of the cabin. We had many wonderful conversations with our kids. Short walk to lake. We drove over to the state forest to visit the light house, beach, and rock hunt. It's $9 a day at the state park, just fyi. We got to meet Jim and he was wonderful. The next door neighbor is an adorable older gentlemen that we fell in love with. FYI neighbor has dogs (we didn't care at all, just a heads up if you have small children afraid of dogs. They are in their fenced in yard.) The only thing I would recommend is a waste basket in the bedroom closest to the bathroom and stronger wi-fi. And believe me, that is the only thing close to a complaint we had. The cabin a/c is fantastic. We didn't get to use the indoor fireplace but I bet it would be perfect for the upcoming chilly season! Thank you so much Jim and Denise for sharing your cabin! Absolutely wonderful!

A great getaway spot!

We loved this cottage! It was much more spacious than we anticipated and everything was very clean inside. The patio was a little cobwebby but we found a duster and were able to clean it off. The beds are soft, so if you prefer a firm matress it may not be for you, but that's a personal preference. If you're a bigger person, the toilet area is a little tight but the shower is great. We absolutely LOVED the little private beach access to the water and being within walking distance of the state park. We were able to get to Tawas and Oscoda beaches quickly and enjoyed watching the deer and the squirrels in the yard. We would definitely recommend this cottage to others and would stay again!

Great place on the point

My in laws stayed here and very much enjoyed it. Was clean with a nice kitchen and family room. Also had laundry which was a big plus. The only hiccup was that we could only get one burner on the stove to light so we weren't able to use it much. The owners did offer to send someone but we decided against it since we were able to cook at my dad's place nearby. Would rent again!

About the host

Jim & Denise live in East Tawas Michigan in the summer and in Cape Coral Florida in the winter months. We both grew up in Michigan and absolutely love the summers here. We enjoy boating, biking and entertaining. We want to welcome guests to our vacation home and do everything we can to ensure a very pleasant stay and lasting memories.

Why they chose this property

We retired in 2018 and moved north from our suburban Detroit home. We purchased Point North as our summer home and began to renovate however we never lived there as we were able to purchase another home on the lake. The home on the lake was purchased completely furnished so many of the items in Point North were from our previous home. The cottage is so cute and cozy we decided to keep and make it a vacation rental for others to enjoy!

What makes this property unique

This is a Schaaf cabin made of vertical logs, Schaaf was a lumber company in the Tawas area in the 1950's and built many of the homes in "coastguardville" for Coastguard residents. The unique vertical log structure enabled them to build very efficiently using local lumber.
