About this property
Charming Historic Stone House with Garden, Fireplace, and Electric Car Charging
Detached house for lovers of peace and quiet and nature (electric heating included).
Ground floor: kitchen with dining area and wood-burning stove, dining room with living room, TV, fireplace with insert (1 basket of wood provided), shower room with toilet.
Middle floor: games room with foosball table and library, laundry room, and upstairs: ST CORNIER SUR MER bedroom with a 180 x 200 cm electric double bed, TV, kitchenette (hob, fridge, and sink), shower room with private toilet.
Upstairs: LE DUC DU HOUX bedroom with a 140 x 190 cm double bed, COQUELICOT bedroom with two 90 x 190 cm single beds, LA BOTANIQUE bedroom with four 90 x 200 cm single beds, bathroom (shower and bathtub), separate toilet.
Terrace. 3,000 m² wooded garden with an open pond, orchard (apple, pear, quince, cherry, and peach trees) and berries (blackcurrant, redcurrant, blueberry, and mulberry trees).
Parking. Bicycle and motorcycle storage available. A discovery awaits you on the edge of a peaceful natural setting, where each season will surprise you: the Gîte du Houx.
It's a traditional stone house that has been completely renovated. The kitchen's bay window overlooks a lush park. Here and there, various species of trees surround the pond and stream, providing a refreshing summer breeze. A little further away, on a lawn, the traditional apple orchard offers an inspiring refuge, where nature offers a colorful display.
To end the day, the fireplace provides a pleasant substitute for the sun, and you can use the built-in barbecue. Jean-Marie and Colette Dumaine, retired restaurateurs, invite you to share their family home with you, following their epic journey of gourmet cooking using wild plants in the Rhine Valley. You'll even be treated to a taste of their gourmet creations upon your arrival!

Jean-Marie Dumaine, originally from the Bocage Virois, is a star chef across the Rhine and his wife Colette was born in the cottage. The chef has been cooking with 350 species of plants for 40 years. They are based in Sinzig, a German town near Bonn. He fell in love with the region, the Rhineland, and repatriated his wife and children there forty years ago. “I've always been impressed by German rigour,” he confides with a smile.
