We loved it, felt welcomed when we walked in, Joe answered any questions we had. We’re most likely going to stay again in the future. Thanks again Joe for everything
It was a unique experience, a very quiet place to relax, see the snow and more for those of us who come from Aruba. The house has everything for a good stay ! The games room has everything for young and old to have fun. There are nearby places to do good shopping ! restaurants
I highly recommend it
Joe is very attentive, he gives you all the instructions and as I told him once again, thank you very much!!

You don't need to worry about anything when you get to the house. You have everything you need and more.
Get there with the food you like, or just read the info on restaurants and everything else is there.
Rec room is hours of entertainment one after the other.
Property is run-down, smells of chemicals and mildew
We checked in on a rainy night to find the basement aka “rec room” flooded. We contacted Joe, who asked us to clean it up with a mop. We finally convinced him it was a real flood, and it turned out to be a leaking water heater. We lost a day to the plumber.
The upstairs bath/shower was also broken, as was the hot water faucet in the downstairs bathroom., and was missing the drain plug. The electrical outlet in that bathroom was not working. The top step to the upstairs was loose and came off when my husband stepped on it…fortunately he did not fall down the stairs.
The drain in the upstairs bathroom was also loose, and as I sat in the tub, I observed a blood stain on the side on the side of the toilet.
None of the 3 bedroom doors closed. He used chemical plug-in scents, the kind that cause asthma, throughout the house, and it took days for that to dissipate.
There are new TVs in every room, a new stove and plush seating in the living room. The basement/rec room was unusable because of mildew odors, which permeated the house. We found the bath mats in the dryer a few days into our visit, instead of in the bathrooms.
Towels were plush. There were no microwave safe cooking containers, and pots and pans are old and needed a good cleaning before use. We cooked all our meals there due to pandemic and rising case numbers in Monroe County.
We left early. Joe gave us a $200 refund because of the lost plumber day, but the mildew smell was untenable.
As for the neighborhood, there is a lake you can walk to, but no accessible beach unless you are out of season and can use the private beach club. A better choice would be the many state parks in the area, where we spent as much time as possible.
This property doesn’t seem to have had much upkeep since it was built, apparently in the 1970s if the avocado green tub is a sign, apart from necessities. It needs substantial infrastructure repairs. TVs and plush sofas don’t make up for not being able to close a bedroom door to shut out the light and noise of my husband watching TV.
We enjoyed hiking in the Poconos, and Joe’s place was a nice home base. It has three levels , washer/dryer and 2 baths , all of which made it easy to clean up and then gather in the kitchen for a meal. We had a great time. Joe responds very quickly to messages.
More specifically I would rate this place a 4.8/5 but it was overall a great experience. The reason I would lower the rating is for minor things that just added up such as several sockets not being able to hold a charger/not work, the hot water in the showers ends quick, and we also found the lack of accessible bathrooms as a problem. There was 7 of us, basically all having to share one bathroom as another was in the master downstairs. Not big of a deal, but something worth mentioning. Also, if you rent in the winter, the basement gets extremely cold, but the rest of the house is perfectly good. Besides those, the house is great and we made unforgettable memories there. I say if you come for winter, bring along some cards/board games because the time that we stayed, it snowed and we were stuck inside- so games for the win. It was also a plus that we had access to the tv. About the communication, the owner wasn’t too responsive leading up to the renting dates, but was quick and helpful in responding during the trip, so if i could, i would give a 4.5/5 stars for communication.
All in all, great time, and thank you for letting us stay!!
