THE DRIVE

Gorgeous mountaintop views wouldn't be possible without a drive uphill first, no matter where you choose to stay. You have to go up the mountain, but trust me, it is well worth it. When you get off the county roads and onto our private road, it does turn into a mountain road, so we do recommend a four wheel drive. But it is accessible without it — the cabin owners has a Ford C-Max Hybrid that makes it up there without an issue.

In the winter, we would recommend getting chains on your vehicle, and just being extra extra careful.

If you're worried about driving up, feel free to message me with your concerns before booking and we can see if this is a good fit for you. But remember that any cabin with a view will also mean a drive uphill.

RULES

* Pet Policy: Dogs only - $150 non-refundable pet service fee. Only potty-trained dogs over 2 years old and under 35 lbs. Up to 2 dogs max. Must be well-trained and do not chew. Cannot be left in the cabin alone unless crated.
* Age Policy: Must be over 25 years old to book. Must have supervision of adult over 25 years old at all times.
* Event Policy: No parties! Small wedding receptions allowed with $150 extra cleaning fee and $500 event fee. Must contact us for permission first.
* Please do not use the elevator inside our home, it is locked - please do not press it or damage it.

***FIREPLACE: Fireplaces will be shut from April - October for the summer season.

AWESOME CABIN TERRIBLE ROAD

The cabin is awesome clean and spacious. Beautiful views. But the road to get to the cabin is terrible and the trees have grown out in the road so they drag the sides of your car.

Secluded

Property is very secluded, about 20 minutes from Parkway. There was a swimming hole anout 15 minutes away the kids really enjoyed. Cabin was very clean, we seen a single bear and then a mama bear and cubs were there. FYI they will climb the back deck to get to the grill. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Views

This property was exactly as advertised! It is clear they have professional cleaners in before your stay. The road going up was slightly washed out due to some rain, but this was warned about. Recommend AWD to get up there. Also some small critters in the cabin, but that was also warned about. So everything was as advertised and it made a wonderful place for my family and myself! Had two communications with the host throughout and they were timely and very helpful. We had a small issue with the air conditioning and the host had a technician out within 4 hours! Incredible host, incredible place, I recommend anyone to book this place!

Beautiful Cabin

The house was just as described. Spacious with plenty of room for the whole family. The only problem was the millipede infestation. We would vacuum and sweep every morning and by the next morning they were back. The ground level floor was the worst. Be prepared for an adventure on the road to the cabin. It is two miles of one lane, extremely graveled road with many pot holes and wash outs. Our suburbans made it but would not recommend any low clearance cars. The scenery was gorgeous and sitting on the porch was breathe taking. All in all it was a great stay.

Not representative of listing

1) Road was described as country road with potholes. The gravel road portions were filled with potholes and on the hills were more like moguls than potholes very narrow and single car width. Also many areas of the road had vegetation, tree branches came into the road and scratched the sides, top of our vehicles. Twice when I was going down the road I came across someone coming up and had to back up the road hill to a point where I could get over far enough to let them by, in the dark, forget it.. 2) One AC system wasnt working and it was for the top level, quite hot. Temperature regulation was non-existent it was a 15 degree difference from the top level to the basement which was like a cooler. 3) Hot tub was slimy and the water was green. 4) Front windows looking out over the mountains, all seals were broken and there wasnt a clear clean window to look out of. On top of it, no effort was made to even clean the inside of the windows as there were little sticky globs all over 2 of the windows from a previous guest who used it to hold something up. 5) A fair amount of rotten boards on the front porch both rear decks which were coming apart was a surprise. Also lost count of the popped deck nails on the rear decks which caught our feet, shoes all the time and many lifted deck boards as well that caught our feet, shoes on. Just those alone are a big safety concern. 6) Four forks in the cutlery drawer, four, thats it. I could go on but there isnt enough space.

Peaceful, quiet, and private.

Mid-May; during a long road trip, my dog & I stayed at this beautiful cabin instead of a hotel. Loved it! It was peaceful, quiet, & private. Lots of trees but none obstructed the awesome mountain view or of Wears Valley which is down low. Property is exactly as described & photos are accurate. Cabin was clean. All 5 bedrooms are BIG and have their own bathroom. Only issue: I was unable to sit on the back deck due to carpenter bees which are common in the mountains. I would confirm w/Helen that pest control treated the area prior to your arrival. Prepare for off-road adventure. The road between the mountain and cabin is ~2 miles of mostly unleveled gravel road. Rocks kick up & your vehicle will get dusty. A few areas were very steep & I hoped my AWD Tesla could do it. No problem at all. Not the case for a pickup truck that got stuck in a ditch. But, hey, you want a true mountain experience, this is it. Helen replied to my messages immediately. Booking, check-in & check-out was simple. No ridiculously long list of rules or contract to sign. Just be respectful & leave dirty dishes in dishwasher :-) In my opinion, this is not for kids who need entertainment. No backyard, pool, swing set, etc. Overall, I’m glad I stayed there and will consider it for future :-)

Spectacular Views Do Not Make Up For Shortcomings

This cabin is massive, and beautiful from the road. But, there were multiple issues. Hot tub was only 2/3 filled with water. 3 inch layer of scum around the edges, and water so dirty, it was hard to see the bottom. The basement was damp, and dirty. Over spray of stain on the satellite dishes made TV and Internet very spotty. Scorpions and millipedes were on every hard surface (tile) in the house. We looked past that as we realized being in the woods, there would be some bugs. However, what we discovered on 2nd night after the sun went down was an absolute infestation of German Roaches'. They were pouring from every crevice in the kitchen. This was not an oversight, or an unknown problem. I find it impossible to believe that "no one knew" of this infestation. They were impossible to miss. I don't mean to harp on this issue, but we had a large group, and we brought hundreds of dollars in groceries that we had to throw out. Add that to the fact that we now had to eat out for every meal, and the food loss coupled with added meal cost was the same amount as we paid for the cabin for the week! It also added tension, we couldn't rest until we checked for bedbugs. We found none, but who knows for sure? The views from the balcony are the ONLY thing that kept this from being a 1 star review. It is dirty, ran down, and infested with German Roaches. Host was sympathetic, but claimed no knowledge of the issue. However, 0 reviews from 2024 seems odd for an infestation this obvious.

Serenity

The property is very secluded! Great getaway home! Excellent location to see the Great Smoky Mountains with friends/ family. Cannot comment on the property management because I only emailed the owner who was very quick @ responding to me. I definitely would recommend staying here. Just one thing to keep in mind, the driveway! It have extremely bad bumps and dips! I was very worried about my family arriving after dark! Make sure it’s a day time drive the first time up the driveway so you know where your going!

It’s high in the mountains

If you are Squamish about staying high in the mountains, this place is not for you. If you love a beautiful view and enjoy watching the clouds roll by you should consider this. Many bathrooms, large areas for gathering, spacious bedrooms…

Excellent!

We booked this cabin for a family trip and it exceeded our expectations. The views are stunning and we loved the location. Every bedroom had it's own bathroom which was so convenient and the gathering areas were spacious and accommodating. We spent most of our time on the large deck taking in the gorgeous mountain views! Our experience with Helen, the host, was also fantastic. She was incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. Whenever we reached out to her she responded within minutes. So refreshing! Highly recommend this property!
