Great location and historical building

We drove from the Manchester NH airport which has direct flights to our local airport, but we knew we wanted to drive up the coast of Maine and visit Ogunquit, Acadia, and other spots. Wiscasset was a nice in-between area that wasn't too touristy and offered something different from a motel/hotel or large beach home. Upon walking into this particular place we noticed the antiques, large wooden plank floors, and even the old wooden pulley elevator that must have some history behind it. The entire space felt like it must have a story and we were eager to know more. The comfort was as expected in an older space with old sloping floors and modern conveniences placed in unusual spaces (such as the bathroom in a stairwell - neat use of space there and the shower had fantastic water pressure). The back porch had a beautiful view and we enjoyed watching the sunrise each morning before walking over to Treats for some coffee and pastries (incredibly delicious, by the way!). We enjoyed peering out the window at the famous Red's Lobster but unfortunately didn't try as we were on the road by the time it opened and back after it closed. The road noise was a bit loud, but white noise (specifically rain noise) on Spotify from my phone fixed that. The space was also much larger than we expected. Had we known there was a living room and kitchen, we would have planned to stay longer to read and cook ourselves a meal, but we had lots of nature and ocean to see. Might stay here again when we come back!

Fall on the river

We loved the huge deck by the river. The decor made it like we were staying in an antique store. Very cool.

Reds Lobster

Ancient building originally a hardware store storage. Wires stapled to surfaces, floors not walkable without shoes. Heated with kerosene questionable as to code violations.Never mentioned in listing steep stairs to enter. Clean but not worth the price paid.

Cozy waterfront home

We had a delightful stay! Cozy, roomy, waterfront home. Plenty of space for two. All the charm of an old farm house with wide plank floor boards, etc. Nice sunny, well stocked kitchen. Be sure to bring your coffee, cream and sugar. Beautiful view off the deck of the river. Located directly in the heart of Wiscasset next to Red’s and the rt 1 bridge, so expect to hear the traffic. You must climb a staircase to the home that is located above storefronts, so keep that in mind. Definitely not the place for someone looking for all the luxury conveniences of a 5 star resort, but a perfect place to stay when visiting charming Wiscasset 😊

Two night solo trip

This is a real home, actually an apartment. It is decorated with care and thought for the visitor. This is the reason you pick a private rental over a hotel. The hosts obviously care about their guests. Wiscasset is a lovely historic town and near local destinations.

Use Caution

The floors of this Apartment are VERY rickety and uneven. My husband and I almost fell several times. Wish the description of the listing had given this disclaimer. It is a real liability. It made our stay very uncomfortable.

Are stay at 49G Water Street Wiscasset Maine Vacasa.

We loved the location, The deck looking out at Sheepscot River. Very close to Reds Eats. Well known for their Lobster roll. My first Lobster roll experience. Omg! The Best. And other Places to eat. Nearby a few shops. A new brewery. All within walking distance. I really enjoy the vintage apartment. The wooden floors and the old elevator. The furniture is also a great addition to the Vacasa. We were surprised at the picture of the area and especially Reds Eats. Great touch. My first Vrbo experience was a very good one. I definitely would recommend it.

Noisy, bad bed, uncomfortable

Leaving a day early. Traffic noise non stop. Large semi trucks constantly. Can’t enjoy the deck for the traffic noise. Old Mattress dips toward the middle. Very uncomfortable. Small ACs do not keep up with the heat. No fans. Steep narrow stairs to lug suitcases up and down and across the street for parking. Expected not fancy but not rustic. Antiques and kitschy tried furniture. Terrible

A perfect water view apartment in beautiful Wiscasset.

This is our third time staying here. We came hear from California to visit family. The location is perfect; the apartment is quirky in a good way. The apartment was spotless and well equipped. If stairs are an issue this rental might not be good as there are about 18 steps to the unit. We watched the 4th of July fireworks from the deck. The best place in town for viewing fireworks.

What a gem!

No need to look any further. This place has everything you need for a short or longer stay. The views, the layout, and amenities were spot on. Looking over the river while having coffee was my highlight. I highly recommended this place and will definitely book again! 5 stars!

Awesome!!

The unit was rustic, but amazing. It was decorated very nice. What was really amazing to me was the old wood flooring that I absolutely loved. The fact we had an old elevator in the unit was unbelievable to my wife and I, that was so cool. However, it overlooked the Sheepscot, which was an AMAZING view and we even got up super early to see the sunrise which did not disappoint. We did have an initial issue with accessing the unit, but the owner was on site and corrected it immediately. Would Definately recommend this place to anyone heading that way.

Nice place to stay and see the area.

Nice historic apartment in a small town with lots of history. It is upstairs above art gallery. It’s only opened during the day so not an issue. It is next road, but that was not an issue since majority of the traffic was during the day when most people are not sleeping. Few different restaurants within walking distance. They are not open super late as is nothing around there past 8 PM or 9 PM. Would definitely stay there again if we are back in the area. A lot of history with the building for the local area.

Great location. Surprisingly large.

This was a great place to stay. It was spacious, clean, and a bit funky with very cool antiques. Loved the deck! The only negative is that I was there during the heat wave and there were AC units in the bedroom and living room but not the big kitchen, which was the best place to set up to work. It got a bit warm in there. I realize the weather was unusually warm but it would have been more comfortable to work if it had AC in that room. I would definitely stay there again.

Great Location. Super Clean. Excellent Choice.

My husband and I were visiting family in Wiscasset and, for the second time, chose this riverfront accommodation. The unit is spacious, a bit funky, and super clean. Everything you want for a week’s vacation is there. The unit lacks a washer and dryer but there is a self service laundry a few miles from town. The highlight of this place is the large deck that overlooks the Sheepscot River. The location is perfect. There are about 15 steps to the unit so those with serious mobility issues might not want to stay here. I’m old and had no problem negotiating the stairs. My husband and I both highly recommend this place.
