Neglected property

Outdated pictures give misleading sleeping arrangements, not well cleaned or maintenanced, simply having soap and towels would have been nice. Found old underwear in bedroom. Previous guests trash left outside caused wild animal to destroy trash shed.

Great home & location for our ski trip

Home was perfect for our 6 people on our ski trip. Could use new towels, but overall the house was supplied with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. There’s a couple of grocery stores, multiple restaurants in South Fork. The river is right in front of the house with lots of deer. Private road to the house so it’s very quiet and serene. Property manager is very responsive and wonderful to work with if you have any issues or questions. We would stay at Cutthroat Lodge again!

Beautiful view of the River

Overall it is a good place to stay, you are right on the river, though there is not access to the river. I would have liked to give the house four stars but there were a few problems. The house had no bath for our toddler which should be noted in the listing. Also, a few niggling problems that were small but annoying. Like the DVD remote had no batteries and of course we did not have the right size with us. Having said that it was a really fun stay and our family did enjoy the house and the location. I wish I could give the house 3.5 out of five stars.

Cutthroat

Very nice setting and location. descent sized rooms. furniture is a little warn and uncomfortable. We had no hot water the first night but the local folks worked hard to get it fixed asap. They also came right away to fix a faucet that broke. Kitchen was pretty well stocked but some stuff needs replacing i.e. hot pads, towels, Knives, etc. Plenty of blankets, firewood and propane along with plenty enough kitchen and bathroom supplies for a few days. We accidentally left some clothes in the closet and they offered to send to us for an extra charge, but I have yet to hear from the locals or get them back. :( Overall, it was an enjoyable quiet stay and the Vacasa employees were very congenial to work with.

Deer every morning

We really enjoyed staying here for the quiet. Its away from a big road but yet the River is right across the road. The house is big so great for the grandaughter learning to walk. They even had baby gates. Needed cabinet locks under the sink to keep kids outta any chemicals. Wasnt crazy about most of the good cookware being stainless. Pancakes stuck, gravy stuck. Kinda a pain. Not enough silverware. Only 6 forks. Beds are comfortable. Had issues with the hot water for 3 days and figuring out how to run a Fire TV but the Maintenance guys are really nice and came as quick as they could. Hot Tub was so nice after a day on the mountain. Its the first place I've ever stayed that didn't have a binder of instructions (TV, Hot Water Heater, Hot Tub), what's in the area, helpful facts and check out instructions. I would check to see if hot water is fixed but if so we would definately stay here again and bring my own skillets.

Photos are old and house is so dirty

We were so excited for this home as the photos were so beautiful…unfortunately it seems those photos are from when the house was first built. We arrived at the house to find a used wash cloth in the bottom bathroom. When you walk in the home you are met with the smell of dog urine. If you’re going to have a pet friendly home I highly recommend getting rid of the carpet. We had very little water pressure. The shower heads being replaced would probably fix that. I wish there would have been a vacuum we could have used to clean up from walking in and out. As most CO homes there was no ac but ceilings fans would be helpful. The house had 1 ceiling fan and 2 box fans. Only one box fan worked we went to the store and bought 3 fans. The carpets are stained and again smell. We found the water filter in looking for towels….it was brown as mud. The towels are holy and stained so they need replaced. The house could be beautiful it just needs cleaned and refreshed. All the windows didn’t open. With the hot summers mini splits are highly recommended. All the appliances need updated. We had to wash all dishes before using. We wouldn’t even use the toaster because it was so dirty. We love the area but we were so disappointed in the house. The house smelled so bad we left a whole day early and paid for a motel room. Again this home could be beautiful with some TLC. The location is great and the neighborhood was awesome. The local sheriff checked on us & was so nice

Wonderful home away from home

Cutthroat Lodge is a wonderful place! We had a great stay and our pups were very content; especially having a mud room to have their meal time and water bowls in. The rooms are nicely appointed with furnishings and tons of bedding to choose from. The kitchen was also very nicely stocked with everything we needed. The games we found were awesome as well. The showers were "interesting" as they creak like crazy and the water kinda just dumps out, but they still did the job just fine and the hot water was amazing! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is not for the cabin or management at all...it's for the neighbor across the river. The two adjoining neighbors are absolutely wonderful! Barb and Vern are so sweet, kind and welcoming and they love doggies too. We just loved chatting with them and getting to know them. However; the man directly across the river (and just to the left) will watch you like a hawk while you're fishing the river and if you so much as have one toe across the center of the river he will yell at you to get off of his property...and he owns two parcels apparently so beware. We had no idea that someone could actually own the river itself. We've never come across that until this trip. We always thought it was just the banks of the river that were owned property, not the flowing water itself. Aside from Mr. Scrooge across the river, the trip was absolutely delightful and the home is wonderful! Large and small families alike will love Cutthroat Lodge! And a special thanks to Rebekah for answering calls/texts so quickly and friendly and for being so accommodating. :)

Comfortable lodge with scenic view of the Rio Grande within minutes of Wolf Creek ski area

Our family of 9 spent a wonderful week spring break 2018 at Cutthroat Lodge. Check in was a breeze and the cabin was prepared and ready for us on arrival. The lodge is well stocked with clean linens and towels and the only thing the kitchen didn't have was a waffle iron - everything we needed to prepare meals for our crew was there (except the food, of course). Beds were comfy, plenty of closet space, and the hot water (I mean HOT) lasted through a full round of showers for 9 bodies. The well water tastes awesome and soap rinses easily from dishes and clothes. The fridge was large enough to hold a week's worth of food and there are enough coffee filters to last until the next millennium! The wood burning stove (a must for any visit to the mountains) was easy to work and there was an abundance of cut and split logs to burn. We kept the thermostat at 55 the entire week and it was pleasant in the lodge all day/night. You can open the screened windows in each sleeping area at night if you want cool mountain air. The Rio Grande is only a few yards from the front door and there is sufficient bank to fish from or you can wade in easily. The back yard is fenced in if you decide to bring your pets. There is a "mud room" off the kitchen with access to the front drive where a large dog can stay as well as where you can store your ski/boarding gear. There are a few good restaurants in town and the local grocery, the Rainbow mart, has everything from fresh veggies and meats, to staples, to snow chains and outdoor gear. Don't bring anything other than food - many previous guests have left cleaning supplies, the aforementioned coffee filters, and laundry soap - so wait until you see what you need then head to the Rainbow mart. The Wolf Creek ski area is about 20 miles from the lodge - much closer than accessing the ski area from Pagosa Springs. Cutthroat is a great value for large families or small groups. We're already planning our next stay at Cutthroat Lodge. Thanks Rebecca and our hosts for a wonderful get away!

Winter wonderland.

Waking up to watch deer making their way to the river and crows having their morning chat was delightful. The drive to ski Wolf Creek was so much nicer than the slog from Pagosa Springs. We enjoyed our stay!!

Nice stay with beautiful view

This is a huge cabin with very nice furnishings and decor, had everything we needed and then some. However, there were some things that would make this cabin awesome. The carpet was pretty bad and really should be taken out totally and replaced with hardwood look tile and warmed up with awesome rugs, the linens need to upgraded (towels, sheets, comforters, pillows, etc.), the bathtubs need to be replaced (both creak and lean really bad and it feels like your going to fall through the floor), some windows are hard to roll back in once rolled out. Other than that the cabin is wonderful. The cabin is close to anything you could ask for the Rio Grande River is great right in front of the cabin where you can fish and watch the deer, Creede, Wolfe Creek Ski area, Pagosa Springs are all nearby. We brought our dog, Bella, and she loved going out to the river to explore. We appreciated the fenced back yard and the lawn chairs outside in front and back to sit and enjoy the nice weather. We celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary and want to thank you for allowing us to stay in the cabin on such short notice. We appreciate that very much. We would stay again. All in all it was a nice stay and a great house with anything we needed! Thanks again!

Great Home

We had a really good time and really enjoyed the houses proximity to the river. About the only complaint we had was that the carpet really needs to be replaced or professionally cleaned. Otherwise, we had a great time and will return next year.

Awesome Stay

This was a fantastic vacation rental. The best things were some of the essentials that were provided which made the stay so much better. Pots & Pans to make a full mean, salt & spices, dish soap, dish towels, bath towels, firewood, sugar & creamer, toaster, coffee pot, etc. They really thought about everything. We will stay here again.

Excellent place to stay as it is right on the Rio Grande. You can walk out your door and be fishing in a minute. We had dogs and they enjoyed the back yard. House was clean and we experienced no problems. I am sure we will try to re-book next time we go to South Fork.
