About this property
Sea View House: Large modern Beachfront home with downstairs Bedroom & Bathroom
This modern, spacious corner house in Pakefield enjoys a quiet position with fantastic views of the sea and the medieval church opposite. There's nothing quite like sitting on the bench in the front garden or the sunlounge inside with the warmth of the sun on your face, watching the world go by. And when it's time for a change of scenery, the sand and pebble beach in front is only a few steps away. Pakefield is a quiet village just south of Lowestoft, a traditional sea side resort, with wide, sandy award winning beaches. As you stroll along the sea promenade lined with colourful beach huts, you'll soon reach these. Or to get away from it all, follow the beach in the opposite direction along the crumbling cliffs.
You'll find some great pubs. beach cafes and all the amenities you need within walking distance of the house, so there's no need for a car if you fancy a refreshing break by the sea. You could even take are boat tour from Lowestoft Harbour to see the seals at Scroby Sands or head inland towards the Broads. If you do want to explore further afield, there is Southwold with its famous pier, lighthouse and the Adnams Brewery where you can book a tour. Or in the summer, crabbing (i.e. catching crabs with a crabbing line) is a popular all age activity in the harbour at Walberswick, always a must for our children when holidaying here. For family days out you can head to Southwold Maize Maze, Pleasurewood Hills themepark or Africa Alive (zoo). Birdwatchers will love the RSPB Minsmere Nature Reserve and Dunwich Heath (National Trust) is great for walks all year round. Heading inland, the Somerleyton Estate with its lovely gardens is well worth a visit as are the old market towns of Beccles and Bungay and the city of Norwich with its impressive medieval Cathedral.
The house is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and the conveniences of modern life such as fast Fibre Broadband and a Smart TV in the lounge. There are plenty of games, puzzles and books, as well as a dolls' house for the little ones!
The house is popular for inter-generational get-togethers, as it has a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, which is ideal for those who find it harder to manage stairs.

About the host
Your host

Born in the Netherlands, I have now lived in the UK (London) for over half of my life. My husband's family originally came from Pakefield (Lowestoft) and were involved in the herring trade - his grandparents got married in the lovely medieval church opposite the house! We enjoy regular family breaks in Pakefield and I have made every effort to equip the house with everything you may need to have a comfortable stay. Back in London, a husband, 4 children, 15 gardens, a weekly church toddler group of 30 and around 100,000 honeybees keep me out of mischief.
Why they chose this property
Pakefield is a quiet village just south of Lowestoft, a traditional sea side resort, with wide, sandy award winning beaches. These are within easy walking distance along the sea promenade lined with colourful beach huts. Or to get away from it all, follow the beach in the opposite direction along the crumbling cliffs.
There are some great pubs just around the corner, some with wonderful views. Several small supermarkets can be found in the centre of Pakefield, as well as a number of take-aways and a pharmacy. Larger supermarkets are a few minutes' drive away.
Echoes of Pakefield’s maritime past are all around, from the little fishermen’s cottages to the diminutive 19th century lighthouse..The majority of the coast south of Pakefield is undeveloped and forms the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pakefield is at the northern end of the Suffolk Coast Path. Suffolk is characterized by its large skies and small villages of pastel coloured houses nestling amongst large swathes of agricultural, forest and heathland. The area is amongst the driest in the UK.
A short drive takes you to the picturesque towns of Southwold, Walberswick and Aldeburgh, as well as the famous RSPB site of Minsmere and Dunwich Heath (National Trust). Local attractions include Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft and Africa Alive (zoo) in Pakefield. Norwich with its shops and historic attractions is within easy reach by car or train. Oulton Broad, 2 miles, offers excellent facilities for boat trips on the Norfolk Broads.
