Multigen stitch group enjoyed cozy stay
When the location of our annual stitching retreat was no longer available due to damage from Hurricane Helene we started searching frantically for a space that could accomodate our large group of 30. Ruth & Terry at Lagolinda Inn were very welcoming of our needs and even met up with us so we could preview the space before our event. The dining room was really not big enough for our group, but thankfully the weather cooperated and we were able to spill out onto the expanmsive porch. The bedrooms at the Inn are all thematic giving the feel of an old time British B&B. The upstairs large hallway has some great seating areas so our various crafting groups were able to gather in little nooks here and there. We only used the basement bunk room for a workshop and thought it might be difficult for tall adults to sleep in any of those top bunks! But it would be great for kids. Overall our group had a great experience. If our regular retreat site isn't available again we'll know where to go. One warning: the Inn is full of Christian imagery and sayings. We knew this going in and prepared our group which included a number of Jewish folks as well as queer young adults who have experienced harm from some Christian communities. Being at Lake Junaluska, an historic Christian resort area, it's likely to be expected - many youth & choir groups meet at the Inn. Just wanted to spell that out so anyone reserving the space sight unseen would be forewarned for whom that would be problematic.
