.We are just 3 houses to the beach located in a quiet, residential neighborhood, we are a HOUSE, not a condo or apartment and we have a double-car garage because parking at the beach is premium. You can walk everywhere, to restaurants, markets, shopping quaint downtown Hermosa and downtown Manhattan Beach. We have many local shops and restaurants to walk to. Many families spend their vacation without a car. We have a great ocean view from inside the house and from the garden. Our renters always comment about our super-comfortable beds and the cleanliness of the house, the furnishings and the linens. We have wireless internet and three televisions. Sit out in our yard/patio in the morning with the newspaper and your coffee, or in the evening watching the ocean and sunsets. Upon request: cribs, strollers, high chairs. No pets and no smokers. Founded in 1907, Hermosa Beach is located on the southern end of the Santa Monica Bay in Los Angeles County, with beaches ranked among the best in the world.

Best Vacation Spot

What a great place for a couple or family to enjoy their time in Cali! This property is perfectly located and is within walking distance of the piers, restaurants, park and most importantly, just a cross the street from the beach! The ocean view from the dining room table is amazing! Can't wait to go back!!!

Exceptional vacation house

My husband and I and three friends spent several days in this extremely comfortable, meticulously kept house a block from the ocean. The owner was extremely helpful, the kitchen was one of the most well-equipped we've found in a vacation house, the living room furniture in great condition and great for lounging in. It's proximity to the beach and a lovely park is great for kids, also it's an easy commute to the airport, a brisk walk to Hermosa Pier where you can rent bikes, and by bike to Manhattan Beach's shops, restaurants, etc.

Great Spot Great House

Easy two block walk to the beach. The house was fully furnished even with the smallest things like condiments and spices (we left some also). There are six of us and my three oldest are adults. There was more than enough room and there is a second bathroom. Great alternative to the higher priced properties right on the beach. Owners were very gracious and accommodating.

Great Vacation Home

This is our third visit and the house is always clean and well appointed. Two adults, two teenagers and one sister - plenty of room. We do one big shopping excursion on arrival at the grocery store and after that the car never leaves the garage. Hermosa downtown and Manhattan Beach are just a short walk away. We rented bikes and rode to Venice Beach for lunch - a wonderful ride. Janine is very helpful and has left a wonderful binder full of local places to visit and eat. Walk down Manhattan Avenue to Java Hut in Hermosa for coffee in the morning - a great local hang out. A little slice of old Hermosa. We will be returning.

Perfect location, great for the kids, exceeded expectation.

I'll start by saying I do a lot of work in LA so when my wife suggested we try a vacation there (from Seattle) I thought the idea was suspect. The fact is, we'll probably now compare every other trip to it. The bar is high. The house is just blocks from the Strand, and as soon as you are comfortable and embrace the fact it must be some people's JOBS to look beautiful and exercise, you'll be down there every day. The beach is deep and every few lifeguard towers there are little parks with swing sets where the kids will kill an hour or two while you can sit comfortably reading or wandering the area with a metal detector or watching old dudes learn to surf. My favorite part about the location is you're just a 10 minute walk from the piers and a 20 minute drive to Venice. City and beach. Doesn't get much better. The house itself is pretty fantastic. Off street/garage parking, a great little kitchen where we cooked breakfast every day and a lunch or two (restaurants in the touristy areas are sorta unnecessarily pricey) and we stocked the fridge with goodies from the Man Beach Farmers Market. We loaded up the wagon with the kiddos and a picnic and took it down to the beach a few times. As I always forget something, sometimes a child, the two block walk home is easy as well. The bedrooms are nicely quiet and you can put the young ones to bed and still have a life without fear of keeping them awake just by talking in the family room. It's such a fantastic area you may not spend much time in the house, but there is great comfort in knowing every minute you spend there is a calm and relaxing one. You'll be in want of nothing. The owners are exceptional and attentive as needed. We didn't have any problems with anything, but they were there for us when I couldn't figure out how to turn on the TV. They compiled a solid book of local recommendations and things to do- it's clear they want you to enjoy their place as much as they have over the years. Reflecting on it I can honestly report I wouldn't have done anything differently. We'll be back, and probably often. For our little family of four (2 and 5, both girls), it truly was fantastic.

Nice Location, Close to Beach

I'll start by saying we take VRBO reviews very seriously, and believe our obligation is to help future travelers as much as possible while giving the owner credit for positive experiences---but our bias lies with giving the future renters as much information as possible to make the best decisions...it might be a special occasion or the only vacation yo get that year, so it should be right! PROS -The property is close to the beach as noted. The owner was very reponsive and setting up the rental agreement was easy, and she accomodated a slightly early arrival nicely. Returned our deposit promptly. -It is a freestanding unit nicely appointed in the "quaint beach house" decor. Lots of beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, etc. which came in very useful for our 6 year old son and my wifes elderly parents. Small patio next to the garage was nice although not enclosed (if you have small children) -Very quiet and safe neighborhood. Virtually no street noise at night. Walking distance to Hermosa Beach town -Parking in a pinch for two cars, and if one plenty of room for bikes, etc. Very nice as street parking is a nightmare in that area. CONS: -An astonishing number of signs taped up everywhere admonishing you to do this, not do that, don't break this, etc. Very annoying. -Had numerous technical problems with the TV/DVD player and internet connectivity. Had to handle the internet problem myself even though I contacted the owner. -The applainces in the kitchen are outdated (not a bad thing in and of itself) but some were partially broken and required non-intuitive workarounds to function correctly. The disposal did not work at all, which was significant for us as we like to cook and make most of our meals from scratch. -All of the kitchen utensils and such (pots and pans, silverware, etc.) are old and we would not use several of the skillets/pans as they were cheap, thin metal and the teflon surface compromised. OBSERVATIONS The property is really a Cottage (not a "House"). Little acoustic privacy between rooms, and we were sort of "living on top of each other" (One of the "bedrooms" is really a family room with large daybed). Our .02: For the price, the owner should fix the stove, put in a new disposal ($75 at Home Depot, no excuse) and drop a couple hundred dollars in some new pots, pans and utensils. And get rid of the annoying signs---a "renters guide" of 2-3 typed pages would be fine.

Lovely stay, lovely property and ideal location!!

We have lived in Manhattan Beach and spent many summers at different properties in the area. This was our first time at this property and we loved it! Love the corner lot with ocean views and just 2 short blocks to the beach. So easy! The neighborhood is lovely and a close walk to restaurants in Hermosa and Manhattan beach. My favorite part of the property is how spotlessly clean it is. It has everything you could need and a brand new bright updated kitchen! Zero hiccups, owners go out of their way for our comfort and everything is kept up including the pretty garden and outdoor space. Thank you for having us!

Favorite Beach House!

Hands-down would come to this place again and again (and have for years now)! Super close to the beach with great views from the house and a little walk to the sand. This is a beautiful, very clean and well-maintained property. Easy access to so many great places nearby both in Hermosa and Manhattan Beach. The house has everything you need to enjoy a tremendous vacation and for the day to day. Stayed for 30 days and had everything we needed. Owner is always super responsive and helpful. This is our must-stay place for a month at the beach. I love this house. Thank you!

Our Perfect Getaway

We came and stayed at this wonderful home for the month of November. Everything was perfect. Perfectly located, perfectly clean, perfect view of the ocean and the beach was just two houses away. Once we provisioned the house with our food, we hardly ever used our car as we walked to both downtown areas and ate many of our meals at nearby eateries. The décor is charming, comfortable and clean. This home is right in the middle of Manhattan Beach Per and the Hermosa Pier with lots of small boutique shops. This is our second stay and we will definitely be back.

Delightful way to spend 4 weeks...

Time really flew by in a hurry, much too fast. The 3BR, 2 bath home is very well maintained and fully equipped, the beautiful beach is 3 houses away across two streets, restaurants are in walking distance, and the owner is friendly and helpful. The Hermosa Beach pier is 15 minutes’ walk one way, the pier at Manhattan Beach is 20 minutes in the other direction. A roomy garage and very pleasant patio are two additional features. We hope to come back again.

All fine: near beach, top condition, helpful mgmt

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our one-week rental here and is talking already about return visits. The property is superbly situated two streets from the beautiful, spotless, wide beach and is equidistant between the Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach piers. The home is well maintained, very clean, and was well suited for the 5 of us (four adults, one child). And it was a pleasure to deal from start to finish with the courteous, responsive, and very helpful owner. Some occasional traffic noise is noticeable, but was never a detriment. This retired professor is happy to give this rental experience an A, with no grade inflation here.

Hermosa Beach Hosue - Perfect holiday rental

My husband and young kids stayed at this Hermosa Beach house and just loved it! We traveled from Australia and stayed for 4 weeks. We felt like locals due to the perfect location, it’s a short stroll to the beach, pier, kids park and local shops including the Hermosa Beach mall. We fell in love with the location and loved the sweet chard of our beach house. Everything we needed was made available to us – baby’s cot, beach chairs, BBQ and toys for our kids etc. We especially loved eating our family meals at the dinning table with the views of the ocean. Just to add my young daughter uses a wheelchair and we found the layout of the home suitable for her needs.

Our Favorite Beach House

What can I say other than "THIS IS OUR FAVORITE BEACH HOUSE" My boys like to surf and we visit many different beaches. This home is just 3 houses from the water, with lovely views from the house the the garden. The beach is beautiful, clean and not crowded. Everything in the house is exceptionally clean and nice. Comfortable beds, nice linens, nice dishes and everything in the kitchen you need to prepare a wonderful meal. The men also like to shoot hoops at the park which is just a 5 minute walk away and I like it that I can walk to both of the two downtown areas for shopping and lunch. We didn't need a car, we walked everywhere and walked to many different restaurants for dinner each night. We will be back for another visit very soon.

Wonderful House and Location

We took our adult "kids" back to the Hermosa/Manhattan Beach area for one last family trip. The beach house was perfect! It was an easy walk from the beach, quiet so you could actually sleep at night. The house is outfitted with anything you might need including fans! Janine was a wonderful hostess. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Felt like we finally found the gem of a property that will make us return to HB/MB to vacation again. We have stayed at several properties in the area and this was far and away my favorite.

This picture is basically your view from the kitchen window, imagine washing dishes while captivated by the sights and sounds of the Pacific Ocean. Your are so close, the waves are a constant background noise day and night..... This was the perfect house for our stay and I'm sure you'll love it too!

My favorite California beach house! Perfect for families!

I have rented this beach house twice now for my family. We came from Arizona and have three kids (young kids to a teenager). First of all, it is spectacularly clean. It is charming and adorable, like new, with a beautiful yard (love the rose bushes and little outdoor patio and white fence). It has everything you need for a great vacation: garage parking so you don't have to worry about fighting for parking spot, all the beach towels, chairs and beach equip you need, full kitchen and family room, laundry, two bathrooms, three bedrooms (we slept up to 6 people comfortably). It's got a great view of the ocean, is a quick block down to the beach (which I prefer over being right on the Strand where people are constantly going by), so you are there at the beach and see/hear the ocean but you are in a cozy, quiet house with a lovely little yard. I love that it's situated right between Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach piers, which means you are in walking distance to both - great shopping, food, things to do - and beautiful, clean almost private beaches (since there's not a lot of public parking at this mid point between the two piers, we often felt like we had our own little private beach and it is always clean!). Just like the house! Janine is a gracious host - she always sends info to prepare us (need bike rentals? she'll let you know; want to know best place to eat? she'll tell you). There is also a wonderful park in walking distance for the days/times when kids (especially young) are done with the beach. Playground equipment, lots of grass, beautiful park. About a 5 minute walk away. Also, close to major mall and movie theater, and lots to do. We also drove to Disneyland and it's about a 45 minute drive. This is the perfect place, we will rent this again (and again!). We went at the end of June/early July and the weather was great!

5 STAR with EVERYTHING INCLUDED

My husband and I came to Hermosa with our 2 little girls that are 20 months old and 6 months. I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. It was clean, provided everything I needed for the beach and for the girls. There was even a wagon to cart the girls to the beach and the park that was only a 3 minute walk away. Janine was so helpful and so accommodating. We loved it so much and want to make it our yearly tradition to go back!!

Another great stay

This is our 2nd visit to this property and it won't be our last. We have two grandsons and the owner has thought of everything when it comes to accommodating guests. There were toys for the beach along with chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, ice chests and a wagon to haul it all. We loved eating meals each day while gazing at the ocean in the dining area. The location is close to several restaurants but the best part of all is the short walk to the beach. Just pass two houses and you have arrived. We look forward to our next visit.

Home away from home

This was our second stay at the Hermosa Beach House. The listing description is completely accurate. The Johnstons are thoughtful, responsive, well-organized owners who are welcoming and helpful. The house has toys, videos, and games for children and adults; and chairs to take to the beach. Wifi connectivity and cable tv are provided. The house is fully furnished with comfortable beds, lots of towels and linens, and a kitchen with every kind of appliance and dishware for fun and family. This was especially nice for us since we enjoy home cooking while away from home, and we have family close by who can join in for "family style" meals. The garden and patio are special treats for us "new englanders" who don't expect to sit outside or see blooming rosebushes for another six months. And the house is an easy, short walk to a glorious beach. The house is on a corner so there is an unobstructed view of the ocean, and sunsets are spectacular. A gas fireplace provides comfort on chilly evenings. Every day was a treat!
