Our First Experience staying at Sea Colony
Just walking through Sea Colony is a pleasure. Beautifully kept and landscaped for walking, jogging, bike riding. There was a place for all of us to enjoy right there if going to the beach was not an option including the recreation center which could be seen from our balcony and was a short 4 minute walk. Here we had both an outdoor pool and indoor pool with a hot tub which my grandson who is autistic and legally blind used to start his day before going swimming. Two of our grandsons used the incredible fitness center which rivaled my sons when he played college football and an indoor basketball court which they used daily. Our two daughters, husbands and families stayed at the nearby Pinewood section that could be walked to easily in a few more minutes for regular interactions and the use of their outdoor pool and splash park which our 7 year old and 16month old grandson's made use of. The trams were so pleasurable and convenient and easy to catch coming and going to and from the SeaColony beach which had a large outdoor pool and separate kiddie pool and another indoor pool and hot tub in very convenient locations. My only complaint would be that we were told that our small clam shell tent we used for the baby was not permitted closer to the shoreline though many people had placed their blankets, rented umbellas and easy up shelters right by the shoreline. We placed two chairs that had sunshades along with a blanket by the shoreline so it would be easier to stay with the baby after introducing him to the waves so they wouldn't have to always be walking back and forth to the clam shell. A large group of people showed up by our chairs near the shoreline and deliberately crowded us out and created a five umbrella shelter for their family making it hard for many to get to the shoreline. No one addressed this with them and my husband decided to sit in our chairs after they literally kicked our small blanket out of their way and a young woman spread herself out right behind us on a large reclining chair. Everyone else around us were being respectful and following the rules. We visited another family who had access to another private beach and there were no such restrictions and the atmosphere was more relaxed and no clamoring for front row seats to the shoreline. Despite this, I would recommend Sea Colony to anyone planning a seaside vacation. It is beautiful, convenient to the boardwalks at Bethany and Rehoboth where you will find great eating establishments and shops and in Rehoboth, a permanent carnival ride area at Funland. I believe now that we are more familiar with the area, we would look forward to another vacation spent with our extended family.
