Excellent communication. Nice rooms. However, person staying next door to us had a dog that would randomly bark and after a bit it would finely settle. Bathroom toilet was not cleaned. For just a place to lay our head it did the trick. We would've loved to take advantage of the sitting area outside, but the weather was not going to allow that. We would stay again and hopefully our next stay will be better.

Nice location to where our event was.

2nd time staying at this location; cute place but the Cleanliness was not great. Bed was very uncomfortable and communication to get access was lacking which made us feel like we may not have access to get into our room later in the evening when we needed to. We will try different accommodations next year when we come back.

There was someone in our room when we got there. Since there isn't a manager on site, it took awhile to get ahold of the owners to get another room. They did put us in the larger room at no extra cost, though, so that was nice.

I’m sure the property was nice but communication wasn’t clear

We had asked if there was room to park with a 20’ trailer and was told there was but it wasn’t beside the cabin it was in another parking lot odd of the property and that was not ok with us. She did try to get us somewhere else but by that time we had already left. We weren’t even offered any kind of discount or refund and paid full price for a place we didn’t even stay at. Cancellation policy was clear but sometimes you should make exceptions. I believe that our situation would’ve been one of those times.

Not what we expected

We thought, from the pictures this would be a cute, cozy, clean, well maintained room for a quick weekend trip. Unfortunately, that’s not what it is. To start, I never received the text message that was supposed to have my check-in information, such as the code to open the door. I had received an email saying I would get a text, but it never came. I was sent a message in Vrbo, but since I was expecting a text, I didn’t think to check Vrbo for messages. When we arrived at the property, I had initially contacted the owner because I didn’t receive the text. I will say she was very quick to respond and was courteous and professional. Unfortunately this property just did not meet our expectations. We did not even stay. We walked in the room and walked right back out. The room reeked of mold/mildew and stale cigarette smoke (even though it is a no smoking property). The owner did offer to have housekeeping come, but honestly, what can they really do about something like that? When it’s in the walls and under the floor, no amount of housekeeping can fix that. She also offered to check to see if a different unit was available but the whole property unfortunately just was not well maintained. All the units looked run down and poorly maintained. There were ants ALL OVER the steps into the units. It was not a good feel overall. There’s no way we would have gotten any sleep. We ended up changing our entire weekend and just heading into Fredericksburg to stay at the LaQuinta.

Family reunion

The room is as described and comfortable for a couple. Everything worked properly. We mainly just slept and showered there. The only issue we ran into was our room not being available at 3. Due to not being cleaned yet. Once we got settled we were good. We still more then likely be renting here for the next reunion

The onsite manager was terrific. She managed to get me into my room when the owner and I couldn't get in contact because I had no cell service. I am 74 and was travelling to a reunion alone. I was interested in price first, probably a mistake in this instance. I actually liked the overall appearance of my room. Sort of western antique looking, and very clean, except for the shower that needs to have some work completed. I gave an overall neutral rating because of the very aged appearance which was offset by the great onsite manage (Lorie or Laurie?).

Clean but issues with property

The location is good but very noisy car wash across the street. Big rig traffic as well. Could overlook this but short showers and you still loose hot water! Heater was run by remote and no batteries! We left early and went home since Saturday into Sunday low was going to be 26 degrees. Would not recommend.

As a special education teacher, my focus and specialization revolve around behavior and its impact on academics. I find great fulfillment in working with students who have diverse learning needs, particularly in the middle school setting. It is a dynamic and rewarding experience to help these young individuals navigate their academic journey while addressing their unique behavioral challenges. Beyond my professional life, I am a wife and a mother. My husband is a Marine Veteran who has transitioned into a sales role. We have been blessed with two wonderful children who bring us immense joy. Our family is complete with two dogs, two cats, and two fish, creating a lively and loving environment. In 2019, my husband and I embarked on a new adventure when we purchased a 1943 motor lodge. We immediately set to work renovating the interior to transform it into a cozy and inviting space for guests. The journey of managing our own motor lodge has been both exciting and challenging. Each day presents its own obstacles, but we approach them with a positive mindset, knowing that every hurdle brings new lessons and opportunities for growth. Life has a way of surprising us, and my husband and I are a testament to that. We have known each other since high school, but it wasn't until 25 years later that we reconnected and embarked on a whirlwind romance. Our love story is filled with excitement and a deep appreciation for the second chance we were given.

Why they chose this property

San Saba holds a special place in our hearts because of our strong family ties. My grandmother, who hails from San Saba, instilled in us a deep appreciation for the town and its unique charm. Growing up, my father had the privilege of calling San Saba home, and his memories and stories painted a vivid picture of the community's warmth and character. In 1998, my parents made the decision to retire in San Saba, drawn to its tranquil beauty and tight-knit community. Their presence in the town allowed us to forge lasting connections and build relationships with the locals. San Saba became more than just a destination; it became a second home. Throughout the years, I have cherished countless visits to San Saba, creating cherished memories that have shaped who I am today. Exploring Mill Pond Park, with its serene landscapes and picturesque views, has always been a favorite pastime. The Regency Bridge, a historic landmark and the last suspension bridge in Texas, has captivated my imagination since childhood. And no trip to San Saba would be complete without a visit to Harry's Department Store, where the spirit of the community thrives. Our family's ties to San Saba run so deep that you may even find some artifacts belonging to our family proudly displayed in the local museum. It is a testament to the enduring connection we have with this extraordinary place. When we had the opportunity to purchase the motor lodge in San Saba, it felt like destiny. It was our way of giving back to the community that has given us so much joy and cherished memories. Our goal is to create a haven for travelers, offering them a glimpse into the rich history and warm hospitality that San Saba is known for. We cannot wait to welcome you to our motor lodge, where you will not only find comfort and relaxation but also a touch of our family's legacy. We hope that your stay with us will be filled with unforgettable experiences and a deep appreciation for the remarkable town of San Saba.
