Nice Spring Break Getaway

We enjoyed our stay at the Wildflower Lodge. We had everything we needed. Perfect place to relax after a day of hiking in Colorado Bend State Park.

Our room was not cleaned. Floor was dirty and we found mouse pills in the kitchen drawers. The shower did not drain well, only 2 people could shower before it filled with water and it took hours to drain afterwards.

Pictures can be deceiving.

Was not what I was expecting. I did like the tiny home feel. Remodel was not very professional and the shower was designed for someone 4ft tall. The place was a little dirty, along with unwanted critters. A cold front came in when arriving, and the little movable fireplace heater was inadequate. I tried talking to the host about it being cold in the place, and she referred to the fireplace and then stopped answering my texts. It was also extremely loud being next to the main road. Not designed for an extended stay only as a passing by stop for the night.

I’m was overall not impressed with this property. It was in much need of updating. On top of that, we experienced a complete disaster of a bathroom. The shower wouldn’t drain at all (which makes you wonder how they cleaned it properly). The toilet was also turned off…weird at first, but then we realized it’s because the toilet just constantly runs, which was very annoying throughout the night. There was also no hand soap in the bathroom or kitchen. And the worst part was the horrible noise the A/C made throughout the night. It was impossible to sleep even through earplugs. Overall this place needs a good update…but I will say that the pillow was phenomenal and I want the same one for my home!

Enjoyable

I chose this location to get lots of paperwork done. It was a perfect place to get the job done. Pros: * town of San Saba is cute and quaint *space and amenities were perfect *staff was very helpful and attentive *decorations were cute and classy *clean inside and out Cons: *my suite was adjacent to main road in town so the noise level was excessive for my taste.. This was only bothersome at night. This item is out of the Lodge's control, street traffic is what it is but a future prospective customer may be bothered by this and may want to research quieter options. *there seems to be a temperature regulation problem for the water. Shower was either scalding or freezing. The more I tried getting a tolerable temperature the worse it got.Reminded me of taking a shower in a camper. I'm an avid camper so I dealt with it like a champ. *mattress needs to be upgraded. It was not comfortable and caused difficulty falling asleep. But once asleep I stayed asleep. *bright lights shining into the bedroom window at bedtime from the carwash across the street. The little window facing the main street would benefit from either blackout blind or curtain. But note I really enjoyed all of the windows during the day! Having so much natural light while being stuck inside all day focusing on office work was enjoyed 100%. All in all my stay was enjoyable and it fit all of my needs. I think the price is right for the pros and cons put together and would stay here again anytime. I think I would like to test out one of the other suites to switch it up abit. Brilliant idea to turn an old motel into cute little lodges. Cuddle to you for such a wonderful idea.

Needs attention

The front door is very hard to open and close, the bathroom door doesn’t close, there is no door knob for the bedroom. The “deadbolt” on the front door doesn’t work- the door opens right up even with it “locked”. Very unsafe. It was very loud outside from loud music being played and traffic noises, but I figured out the window units are so loud it drowns out the outdoor sounds at least (?). The toilet is very small and low to the ground, hard for adults to use. The bedding was stained and there was not enough bedding for everyone. The fold out couch is covered in loud plastic and did not have a sheet that fit. There was no top sheet or any other bedding to use on the fold out couch. Unfortunately we learned all this at the time we were going to bed so there was no time to wait for a remedy (children are ready for bed right at bed time). The Sofi didn’t work. There were no napkins or paper towels in the place and really no kitchen items to use. Overall a bad experience for the price- I feel I was scammed with how much I paid for this place for one night. I do not recommend staying here.

Great getaway!

The inside was cozy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Super comfy bed and linens. The shower head wasn't the best, but they changed it out immediately upon our request. The inside was very clean but the grounds had debris (old hot water heaters) and could have used some spring cleaning as well. (Granted, I believe there was work being done to make repairs after the snowstorm.) The unit is right on the main road so the road noise is pretty constant. If you're just looking for a comfy place to rest after a long day or hiking or visiting local wineries, it's perfect. The outside and location (main street across from the car wash) isn't the best, but if you're wanting to be close to Colorado State Bend Park and other places near San Saba, it's a really good option. Sherri was quick to answer questions and very helpful. There are some delicious places to eat and beautiful parks!

As a special education teacher, my focus and specialization revolve around behavior and its impact on academics. I find great fulfillment in working with students who have diverse learning needs, particularly in the middle school setting. It is a dynamic and rewarding experience to help these young individuals navigate their academic journey while addressing their unique behavioral challenges. Beyond my professional life, I am a wife and a mother. My husband is a Marine Veteran who has transitioned into a sales role. We have been blessed with two wonderful children who bring us immense joy. Our family is complete with two dogs, two cats, and two fish, creating a lively and loving environment. In 2019, my husband and I embarked on a new adventure when we purchased a 1943 motor lodge. We immediately set to work renovating the interior to transform it into a cozy and inviting space for guests. The journey of managing our own motor lodge has been both exciting and challenging. Each day presents its own obstacles, but we approach them with a positive mindset, knowing that every hurdle brings new lessons and opportunities for growth. Life has a way of surprising us, and my husband and I are a testament to that. We have known each other since high school, but it wasn't until 25 years later that we reconnected and embarked on a whirlwind romance. Our love story is filled with excitement and a deep appreciation for the second chance we were given.

Why they chose this property

San Saba holds a special place in our hearts because of our strong family ties. My grandmother, who hails from San Saba, instilled in us a deep appreciation for the town and its unique charm. Growing up, my father had the privilege of calling San Saba home, and his memories and stories painted a vivid picture of the community's warmth and character. In 1998, my parents made the decision to retire in San Saba, drawn to its tranquil beauty and tight-knit community. Their presence in the town allowed us to forge lasting connections and build relationships with the locals. San Saba became more than just a destination; it became a second home. Throughout the years, I have cherished countless visits to San Saba, creating cherished memories that have shaped who I am today. Exploring Mill Pond Park, with its serene landscapes and picturesque views, has always been a favorite pastime. The Regency Bridge, a historic landmark and the last suspension bridge in Texas, has captivated my imagination since childhood. And no trip to San Saba would be complete without a visit to Harry's Department Store, where the spirit of the community thrives. Our family's ties to San Saba run so deep that you may even find some artifacts belonging to our family proudly displayed in the local museum. It is a testament to the enduring connection we have with this extraordinary place. When we had the opportunity to purchase the motor lodge in San Saba, it felt like destiny. It was our way of giving back to the community that has given us so much joy and cherished memories. Our goal is to create a haven for travelers, offering them a glimpse into the rich history and warm hospitality that San Saba is known for. We cannot wait to welcome you to our motor lodge, where you will not only find comfort and relaxation but also a touch of our family's legacy. We hope that your stay with us will be filled with unforgettable experiences and a deep appreciation for the remarkable town of San Saba.
