Cabin 1 at Cedar Key - Perfect lakefront getaway!

'Cruising Altitude' is a cozy cabin in a beautiful and relaxing lakefront setting. High speed internet for remote working. Accommodates up to four people, dogs welcome.

Safe, quiet cove is the ideal location for water activities such as swimming, floating, kayaking, canoeing. The main channel is a short boat ride away for high-speed fun. Mitchell's Marina is the closest boat ramp on the lake, a 5 minute boat ride and 10 minute drive away.

Travel down the neighborhood’s 1.3 mi private road to our quiet cul-de-sac tucked away in nature preserve. ‘Cruising Altitude’ enjoys a neighboring forest with a pristine view of the no-wake cove. The opposite shore is undeveloped wilderness, promising peace, quiet and peeks of wildlife.

Come play, work, fish, recuperate, boat, regroup, swim, relax, hike. Be as active or inactive as you want to be. Bring your boat, golf clubs, fishing poles, hiking shoes, lifejackets, and sunscreen! Share the dock and picnic table with neighbors in Cabin 2 (if occupied).

Or bring your favorite book and enjoy the peaceful surroundings with breathtaking mountains, wilderness and lake views.

Smoke-free property.

GUESTS MUST BRING LINENS, BATH TOWELS, WASHCLOTHS, DISHTOWELS, ETC.; they are not provided. Ceiling fans throughout.

IF YOU PLAN TO RENT A BOAT, there is no boat ramp on site.

Guests are expected to tidy up to a reasonable amount upon leaving. Please wash dishes and stow them. A vacuum is available for excessive pet hair or messes. $10 fee for each trash bag left behind (housekeeping charges for trips to local refuse site), $10 fee per room where “above and beyond” cleanup is required.

Weekend getaway

Excellent location with splendid lake views. Deck overlooks a quiet branch of the lake. Great place to walk and enjoyed watching the deer from the deck in the morning. Would definitely return.

This area is simply the best. This cabin is one of maybe a dozen in a small community of cabins. The views are awesome and this cabin is all by itself on one side for extra privacy. No complaints at all! The owner even left a few extra treats (for adults too) which was really kind. Would love to stay again.

We stayed in cabin 1. It was unbelievably beautiful experience- the cabin, the nature, environment, everything was excellent! The cabin was very clean, the kitchen was fully equipped to cook your own food. We left our heart down there, and will be back soon!

Heaven on water

First and foremost, the location is perfect. This is where you want to be if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Technology, and road noise. We rented a boat, and the boat dock was just fine. The boat provides all the creature comforts. I would suggest having a bathroom carpet, and/or bath mat. The floor gets very slippery. We intend to come back next summer as well, hopefully it'll be available.

This was a quiet part of the lake that was perfect for paddle boarding. Great views of the night sky. The cabin was perfect for a getaway.

Beautiful views, quiet, and quaint.

Very relaxing, we chose to eat in since it is not close to any restaurants. Stove needs replaced, pots and pans needed washed before using, rugs needs cleaned or replaced, blinds need dusted, and ceiling logs were dusty, light bulbs need replaced, twin beds uncomfortable for adults and deck umbrella needs relaced. These are our suggestions we have for a future stay.

This place was great. We had a nice, quiet stay. The lake was beautiful and it was perfect way to forget about the rest of the world and just sit and watch the water.

Property need through cleaning. All blinds very dusty beds posts and throughout cabin dusty. Coffee pot had to be clean so we could use it. Deck have leaves and broken limbs. Utensils not clean. Dog treats under couch spoon between stove and counter. All and all we enjoyed, would be a very nice cabin with some attention.

Quiet hideaway

Perfect place for some quiet, quality family time, with reasonable proximity to Roanoke/Salem and some other areas. Dock was perfect for swimming & fishing.

I’m sure it was the best cabin all out of all of them and we enjoyed it greatly even when the weather wasn’t great it was still lots of fun first time I got to grill out with charcoal in a long time enjoyed that immensely the grill might be almost end of life though I’ll definitely like to come again

Our family of 4 plus our pup had the best time here. The peaceful cove became perhaps slightly less quiet with our boys’ and dog’s delightful antics, but it is the perfect spot to get away, experience nature, and make the best memories.

Nice vacation

An unusually well-organized and nicely stocked little rental cabin with a spectacular view. I fully accomplished my goal of escaping hurricanes and heat, plunging into a beautiful lake, and hosting mini-visits from friends and family. I really appreciated the goody basket the owners provided for my extended stay. p.s. Saw lots of wildlife, including a bear near Gobbler's Ridge.

Why 'Cruising Altitude'?

Everyone who has flown knows that when you reach cruising altitude, you can sit back, relax, move about the cabin. 'Cruising Altitude' came from my background as a pilot. While I'm still at work, I can relax a bit 35,000 ft when I'm at cruising altitude. But my favorite altitude is at 800 ft, which is where you stand at Smith Mountain Lake’s water level.

To me, my cabin is much like flying – there is a sense of peace and quiet and solitude. My cabin home here is the closest I can come on the ground, to matching the amazing view from the cockpit. My lakeside cabin has a distinct advantage that Canine Copilots are eagerly welcome.
