## Emplacement
Vannes is a city of art and history, situated at the gateway to the Gulf of Morbihan, in southern Brittany, on the Marle estuary. You can start by admiring the medieval ramparts, which are among the best preserved in Brittany, and which offer a charming walk along the Garenne, a path that runs alongside them, punctuated by gardens and pretty wash houses. After discovering the port, with its tree-lined quays, including the Quai de la Rabine, go through the 17th century Porte Saint-Vincent, which was built to link the port and the historic district: you enter the old town through a street lined with old buildings, private mansions and half-timbered houses. Go up to the Place des Lices where the 1912 covered market awaits you. Dedicated to food products, they welcome you on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sunday mornings, as well as on Saturdays all day long. As for events, the Fêtes historiques de Vannes is celebrated in mid-July. Among them, Arz, l'île aux Moines, Houat, Hoëdic...
