Great hosts, everything that we wanted and needed was provided
Candice and her husband were wonderful onsite hosts responding immediately to every question or need. The house is perfectly situated for 4 adult couples with lots of common space both indoors and outside.
Booked for our family who was gathering for a wedding on the island. It was perfect: immaculate and charming, perfectly convenient, and a great place to hang out. Communications with our hosts were prompt and responsive - whole experience was a delight.
The property and house were amazing. We were in town for a wedding and it was nice to have such a large house to spend time with family. The property and rooms were fantastic. Our children loved all the games in the backyard. Only complaint was the beds were pretty hard and some creakiness when moving in the bed. Overall the place was ideal for our trip.
Very nice place for a reunion. Excellent wifi signal. Spotty cell phone reception. Loved the mother doe and twins grazing on the yard in the morning. Convenient to everything.
We had a wonderful visit...celebrating our Sister’s 70th Birthday. This home was perfect...we each had a comfortable bedroom with privacy. There was plenty of room to gather, cook, play board games, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors! The deer families were a delightful site! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!
Everyone in our large group loved the property. Before we arrived, we thought it was pretty expensive, but the description suited our needs. At the end of our stay, everyone raved. One suggestion: put a box of tissues in each bathroom.
The property is just as advertised on Vbro. It has four large bedrooms which worked perfectly for our four couples. The property managers live next door and welcomed us. They provided fresh flowers in the entry and living room, and stocked the fridge and pantry with several items for us to enjoy! There are lots of games inside and outside which we enjoyed as well. San Juan Island isn't huge. We were 11 minutes outside of Friday Harbor with easy access to all parts of the island. We had a great time and highly recommend the property!
The home was perfect for our family vacation. We loved the outdoor games available for us to enjoy. The kitchen and living area were wonderful. Lots of privacy between the bedrooms. Private baths for each room. Unfortunately, none of us slept well as the beds were incredibly hard! We all slept just a few hours each night. One king bed, although hard, sloped to the middle. The days were wonderful, but the nights were long and uncomfortable. Definitely could use some thick memory foam mattress toppers.
We were a group of six seniors, all friends of long-standing who have been gathering once a year for over 10 years. All four bedrooms were extremely comfortable, with individual ensuite bathrooms. We did not take advantage of the Japanese soaking tubs in each bathroom due to senior mobility restrictions. However, we did take advantage of the walking trails on the property as well as a quite well-stocked kitchen. My only suggestion might be a supply of fabric napkins for the dining area. Candice, our host, was very responsive and readily available to answer any of our questions. The property provided us all a very memorable stay!
Fabulous location - and property! Plus extra bonuses!
House was beautifully kept, and set up (4 suites plus common areas) to encourage both privacy and gathering as a group. Kitchen was well stocked and up to date (we loved the cookware) - we cooked several meals for our party of 7. Best of all was the property itself - having 16 acres of woods to roam in was amazing, and we loved all of the yard games. We had more than one croquet tournament, and had a fire every night. Loved watching the deer that visited the property in the morning and evenings, and the rabbits were simply adorable! Kate was fabulous in answering all of our questions! Would definitely return!
Family members stayed with us at this property and we really enjoyed our stay here. The 4 bedrooms gave great privacy to each of the family groups - each with its own bathroom. The common area including living room and kitchen was spacious enough for all. The kitchen was well equipped and we went through the coffee pretty quick but the onsite manager was easily accessible for coffee refills and to take care of our trash. We were lucky enough to have some very nice warm sunny weather to enjoy sitting out on the back patio and play the lawn games. Cornhole in particular was popular. My only complaint is that we did not have enough time to try out the Japanese soaking tubs! All in all this was a perfect place for family members to stay to attend my daughter's wedding.

Not as private as advertised
The home is absolutely gorgeous. Set up like a spa. Lots of activities to do on site. But there is a family that lives 50 feet from the front door. Not 16 acres of privacy at all. Grandma was coming out of the shower and there was a child playing basketball right outside her room window. Kids staring at us through the window while we are getting in our cars. I use VRBO because of the advertisement saying no owners on site. Very disappointed about that. Everything else was perfect.

Lovely but not luxury
There were many bells and whistles at this home from plush robes, soaking tubs, and plenty of recreation toys outside. There were some areas where the property missed the mark. The decor and outside grounds were outdated. The kitchen was not fully stocked. Appliances were lacking and not reliable.
If you are particular about what you consider luxury this property falls short. However, the owner is lovely and recently purchased the property. Very responsive and if they invest a little time and money this rental will fully shine.
This spot was really pleasant. We loved having all the space to hang out, cooked a lot in the kitchen, and played all the lawn games. Would totally stay here again!
Great property in a very private setting. Perfect set up for multiple families since it has 4 master suites. Approximately 10 minutes to either Friday or Roche Harbor.
House was great, wildlife wondering by daily, all 4 rooms have their own private bath. Only down side and it was just the timing of a crazy heatwave was no AC.
We were extremely happy with Fox Hollow Retreat. The house and yard were very welcoming! The kitchen is well stocked with whatever you might need. The 4 bedrooms have their own bathroom with an amazing Japanese soaking tub, with plenty of towels. The house has plenty of seating, blankets, games, toys etc. The caretaker is incredibly helpful and attentive. We will definitely go back again!
An amazing stay at a beautiful home on a gorgeous property.
We were welcomed with delicious goodies for breakfast. The Japanese soaking tub was amazing and there were lots of toys for our son to play with. Kate is an awesome manager and made sure we were comfortable, we would definitely return.
A lovely property and perfect home base while staying on San Juan for a wedding. It was wonderful to have such well equipped communal spaces and the privacy of 4 suites. The stocked breakfast goods was a thoughtful touch and appreciated!
The home is beautiful, and despite being spacious it still felt very cozy. The heated floors were nice, and little details here and there made it feel very welcoming. The soaking tubs are amazing! There was a very friendly kitty and also a deer that both visited a few times. We really enjoyed all the indoor and outdoor games and wished we'd had more time to spend there! We'll definitely be back.

My son Lucas and I first came to the San Juans after watching the Free WIlly movies. Lucas wanted to see the orcas and we had our first visit. We fell in love with the islands and just had to buy something here. Over the next three years, we looked and looked until we found the perfect property: Fox Hollow Retreat.
Boating is a passion of ours. We brought our completely restored 1968 Chris Craft to the island and stay on the boat whenever Fox Hollow Retreat is rented.
We come as often as we can but never often enough. Since we cannot enjoy Fox Hollow Retreat as often as we would like, we really want others to enjoy it for us.
Why they chose this property
Beauty, nature and privacy. That is what we wanted in a house. We love the forests surrounding the house, the frog pond and all the trails. Sometimes we also just like to relax in a hammock overlooking the property. Fox Hollow Retreat is our dream destination.
What makes this property unique
We want Fox Hollow Retreat to be an immersive getaway. There are activities galore provided: walking trails, volleyball, croquet, ping-pong, basketball and more. There is a beautiful frog pond just down the path. We tried to make the house as warm and inviting as we could. Fox Hollow Retreat robes are in each room. And luxury Oribe products for the shower.
We are most proud of our caretakers, Candice and Ben. They live in a caretaker house on the property and are available for any of your island needs. Don't worry, though, they are almost invisible when you don't need them.
