The house is pretty secluded so don't forget anything, it will take you a solid 30 minutes to get to a small grocery store. The closest Walmart is over an hour.
We hiked the East Rosebud trails, which takes a bit to get to. The road is not paved so its very rough and bumpy. Yellowstone North entrance is the closest and takes about 3 hours going through Beartooth pass (which is beautiful). The entire area has amazing views. We had a great time and would recommend the stay!
This beautiful home was perfect for our family. Plenty of spaces to hangout together and a unique layout that allowed for our adult children to each have their own bedrooms as well a master that could seriously be a high end apartment . The beds are comfortable and extra blanks are available if you want to snuggle up by the fireplace or keep the windows open at night to hear the night sounds in wild Montana. The owners are pet friendly which made our family trip even better by bringing our pups with. The view from every window is gorgeous and the home is perfectly designed to frame heavenly views in each oversized window. We appreciated how private the home is even though there are other cabins in the valley. There are trails just up the road as well as in the neighboring valleys. There is a fantastic grocery store in Absarokee and many shops in addition to Red Lodge where you can eat out, shop, golf or visit the animal sanctuary. Speaking of animals we saw a few bears at very safe distances, beautiful red foxes, deer, antelope, elk, turkeys, cranes, marmots, a coyote, eagles all from the property or just up the valley a bit. There are an abundance of beautiful wildflowers in bloom and the ranches around the area are full of newborn horses & cattle. Be sure to check out the many waterfalls in the area. We made most of our meals in the very well stocked chef’s kitchen. Machines on the main floor meant we washed clothes as needed. Our family had a great adventure & found peace.
The cabin was everything we needed for a relaxing late anniversary get away. Located perfectly for hiking and some sight seeing. We had planned to eat out a couple nights but decided to stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet and beauty around us. Cabin has everything needed and we would definitely plan to visit again.
Greg was a great host and responded to questions quickly.
It was spaceous, beautiful and just what we wanted and more than we needed. Greg was a great communicator. The 4th bedroom is in the back of the garage, fyi! Lol
Don’t pass up this house! It was the most amazing place to stay! The pictures online don’t do it justice. It was better than I ever imagined. The house is huge - enough room for everyone. The beds were comfortable and everything is well maintained. FYI - the extra bedroom is through the garage in the back of the house. Nice and secluded for those who want more privacy.
Many previous renters (us included) left lots of condiments and other pantry items. Don’t purchase ketchup, mustard, oil, vinegar, pickles, pancake mix, syrup or sugar! It’s all there! And more!
The road to the house is four miles of dirt road and the driveway has a little washout. A higher clearance car would be best! The van we rented scraped a little bit but not really a problem. I would rent this house again in a heartbeat if I ever go back to Roscoe. I highly recommend this house!
The property is just as described. The house is beautiful with gorgeous views! We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay. Communication was great & easy check in and out. House is well stocked with lots of room!
Planned trip with with 4 brothers and 3 SIL's, 8 adults total. The house is spacious, comfy and well equipped. Our host was quick to reply with any questions. The views are outstanding. The driveway was a little challenging due to washouts. But overall, we had an amazing week and would book again if we return to Montana.
The house is about half way up a valley that leads up to the National Forest, it follows a stream and the views were spectacular from the house. It is a drive if you need to grab food, so it is wise to plan ahead so that you don’t have to drive back to town if you don’t want to. It is a very pretty drive though, we saw whitetail deer, mule deer, and elk on over drive.
We were there with our kids, my parents, and a cousin’s family. We had the max allowed for the rental and had plenty of space. Verizon worked well there and we had no issues with the WiFi. I cannot comment on the satellite tv since we never watched while we were there.
The kitchen is well laid out and easy to access and it had all the pots and pans we needed. We did bring crock pots for some of what we had planned to cook, but there was one there as well that we did not use. Large fridge with plenty of room as well. We didn’t have any issues with any of the appliances.
The bedrooms had lots of space and the mattresses were comfortable. Lots of towels for the bathrooms and the hot tub. No issues with anything there.
A previous review talked about hiking to a waterfall. That wasn’t possible for us since the road washed out last year and the forest service is still fixing it. We did hike as far as we could and glassed a mountain goat.
We would stay there again.
Excellent location for those looking to get away from the hustle of everyday life.
We had 9 adults in our group. The home was spacious, clean, and located in a quiet and beautiful area. The owner was easy to reach and called in advance to let us know there could be a lot of snow and to be certain we had vehicles that could maneuver easily through that.
There was enough space to cook and dine together, as well as separate small rooms for relaxation.
The hot tub was great under the Montana sky.
Very nice stay!
Everything was great, the home, the view, the area, and the management. My wife and I have stayed at over 40 rental homes in the last 30 years and maybe one has equaled this one. So much to do and see in the area. We will keep this one on the very short list for sure. Thanks Greg
We booked this spot for a combined family vacation. The house had tons of space - a large kitchen and dining area with lots of living room space and tvs. It didn’t affect our stay too much- but the separate bedroom took us a bit to find and though we still would’ve booked the place it would’ve been nice to know beforehand. The AC units are in the common areas, which are great - but the one room up on the second floor was still a bit warm (we did stay in early august). The location was quiet - and even with the washouts from the flood, there were plenty of places to hike and enjoy just being out in what felt like the middle of nowhere. There were plenty of linens for beds and bath and the kitchen had a lot of things in it for use. Things seemed a bit disorganized - so it took time to find the right utensils and such, but everything we needed was there and we had a really wonderful time in the house. And would love to stay again. Greg was also very responsive and helpful.
Everything was just as described. Amazing views and everything was perfect. The owner found out the hot tub was broken 2 days before we checked in. He worked very hard to ensure it was fixed and working properly by the time we arrived. Red Lodge is close and is an amazing little town.
Was the perfect location away from town but close enough to enjoy Red Lodge. Views from the house were amazing. Greg was responsive and helpful with everything.
