Myself and two colleagues were in town for a work trip. We did not have the opportunity to venture out much as we were working long days. House was clean, spacious and met all of our needs. The host communicated very well and added some personal touches that made the stay special. Would highly recommend.
It was the perfect location us. My niece got married and with the wedding location and our location it allowed us to help accommodate the guys for a bit while the girls got ready.
Moved son into Sewanee - the Bicycle house was PERFECT! Location was great! Very roomy, quiet, and had everything we needed! Nice welcome note w a surprise in the frig! Beds were super comfy! Will definitely stay here again! ❤️
Thank you to the Bicycle House for a wonderful family Thanksgiving getaway! This was the perfect place for five of us to meet up with our Sewanee student and have a wonderful relaxing long weekend together. The location by the beautiful natural bridge and easy access to the Domain made for easy hiking outings. The house itself was well appointed, with a great kitchen and dining room for our meals together, comfortable bedrooms, good bathrooms, and fun surprises like a Christmas tree in the sunroom and a foosball table. The house was clean, the host was responsive, and we appreciated the welcoming baked goods in the fridge. We hope to stay here again in the future.
We enjoyed staying at the Bicycle House. The house was clean and spacious. Plenty of room for all of us. It would have been nice to have had beds in a few more of the rooms that were mostly empty, but our overall experience was excellent.
We had a great experience at the Bicycle House. Our host was very kind to leave us lots of bottled water and baked goods from a local bakery, as well as a kind card. Sewanee is a beautiful place, and I would highly recommend staying here. I would also suggest bringing a bicycle because the theme of the house will make you want to ride!
Very cute and comfortable property. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. There are plenty of towels in the bathrooms. The house is decorated very nicely. It is close to the University of the South and hiking. I would stay again.
I LOVE the Bicycle house. I wish every vrbo experience was this lovely. They have thought of every detail. The house is huge and the rooms are spacious. The kitchen is well stocked. The towels are fluffy. Checkin/out and all communication is effortless. The price is premium but absolutely worth it. You get what you pay for and this place is just perfect. Location in regards to Sewanee is ideal. I ran to campus along the forest road (approx 3 mile?). Love this place!
We loved the Bicycle House! So many pros, but a couple of cons too. Con 1: If you use T-Mobile you will not have service when you get to the house. The Blue Chair Cafe in town has free internet. Con2: Stairs. All the bedrooms are upstairs. It was good exercise, but I wish we'd brought a baby gate for the toddler. Con 3: Cloth kitchen chairs are lovely, but we covered them with paper towels for the toddler. Pro 1: beautiful setting - trees everywhere. Pro 2: Plenty of room for the 6 of us. Pro 3: Walking/biking close Pro 4: The FRONT PORCH! Loved it! We pulled a couple folding chairs from the bike room. More Pros: Extra fans, bedding, towels, iron, k-cups and drip coffee... and a menu-book of what is available in the neighborhood. We had a great stay after we overcame the phone service snag that prevented us getting the code to the house right away.
Our family stayed here the closing weekend of the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. We had come the year before and stayed at the local inn. This time we brought our two teenaged sons with us. We loved Sewanee and wanted to share a bit of it's small town charm and magic with the rest of the family. Happily, we were there to see the ending concert series and pick up our college aged son.
The property manager communication was great. There was an issue with the hvac and hour or two before we arrived. She let us know that it was being addressed and fixed. We never would have known. When we arrived tha ac was working famtastically. Upon entry the unit was immaculate inside. They even left little treats of local baked goods (sweet bread and cookies) as well as some waters. My teenaged sons devoured them. Such a sweet and thoughtful touch. I would definitley stay again.
I hate to give low ratings to someone, but the previous review was spot on. For us, the cleanliness issue wasn't with the bathroom, but with the kitchen. It looked like some surfaces had never been wiped down. Among some of the issues: a thin film covering the microwave door, a used coffee pod in the Keurig, stains in the sink, and a pizza crust at the bottom of the trash can. To cap it off, the cleaning fee is well above average. Overall, the house is a great place to stay. The other review mentioned that the internet probably wouldn't support work -- both my wife and I did some work with video calls, with only minor hiccups. However, especially right now, I expect to get what I paid for out of the cleaning fee. Because of this, and a previous review where the owner states the issue was corrected, I have to give a low rating.
Great house for a family visit to Sewanee. Loved the laundry room- perfect to do all my sons laundry while I visited. Open floor plan worked great to have friends over for dinner.
The house was spacious, clean, and easy to find. It’s just 2 miles away from Sewanee’s little “downtown” restaurants and such. The house is in a very quiet, woodsy neighborhood just a quick walk from the natural bridge. It was comfortable and a nice little home base for our stay. Would definitely stay there again!
I rented this house so that I could have a yard for my kids to run around in. They didn't make the trip, in the end, but this house would have been great for them. The rooms are spacious, there's a den, and a sizeable yard. I'd love to return with mountain bikes so that we could take advantage of the trails. Great location only 2 miles off of 41A. Close to town and very close to Natural Bridge.
Beautiful location, close to all the trails. The house was super clean and very spacious. Our host was so kind and very accommodating, very easy to communicate with. I will 100% be coming back to stay here!
The Bicycle House was the PERFECT place for our family to get away and enjoy the outdoors! We loved being close to the trails for hiking and we got in some cycling on the Mountain Goat. We ate breakfast at the Blue Chair and fell in love with the little town square! The house was a clean and comfortable space! Lots of Room and loved having a stocked laundry room to use while we were there. This will be our go to place anytime we are in the area! Definitely FIVE STARS!
Great little house in Sewanee, TN. This place could not be in a better location if you enjoy hiking, biking or just being outdoors! We literally hiked a different trail everyday and saw over 5 different waterfalls and caves, and did not even break the surface of how much more was around to explore. Highly recommend the Buggy Top Cave Trailhead nearby!
In regards to the house, it was decorated great, the owner really makes it feel warm and inviting. I really want to give this place additional stars because of its potential, but upon checking in we did notice that the bathrooms were not very clean, it appeared to be a cleaning service error. After addressing it with the owner, she was quick to respond and apologized for the inconvenience and explained that is was indeed a cleaning service error. I had to run to the store and purchase some cleaning products and clean the two bathrooms myself since it was Christmas Eve, but the host was quick to refund me for the cleaning fee and was very kind! The other issue we noticed was with the WiFi connection, we were never able to get a clear connection on any devices when it came to streaming video or music. It appears that maybe since it is a satellite internet connection and since the location is on a plateau it may be finicky. Wouldn’t be an issue normally but we did not have any cell service within a 20 min radius of the house so it was the only source of connectivity. This could be an issue if guests are required to work remote while away. Also to note, this was around the time of the Nashville/AT&T bombing, so not sure if the connection issues were related or not.
Overall, I would highly recommend this location and stay, with a few tweaks to the cleaning and potential WiFi issues, this can be a 5-star listing.
Thank you!
