A-Frame cabin located on the shores on lake Independence.
Beautiful A-Frame cottage on the sandy shores on lake independence. Great location with easy access to the lake from your own private sand beach. Relax in a hammock and enjoy the sound of the waves or take out one of the 4 kayaks for a lake excursion.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and couldn't have been happier with the house, amenities, and location. The property was impeccably maintained and provided everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The owners were fantastic at communicating, ensuring we had all the information we needed before and during our visit. We highly recommend this home!
We loved staying at your cottage. You are a wonderful host. And i would tell all my friends to book your cottage for a peaceful relaxing getaway location in the up
Overall this was an excellent stay. Host had pretty much everything you could need available at the cabin. He was very responsive to questions. Location was beautiful and relaxing. Lake was nice- not super busy. Cabin was decorated nicely- very modern. My only complaints would be regarding the water- I would suggest bringing your own drinking water. Sulfer smell was over-powering... the water in my glass was actually yellow-ish... didn't feel great about drinking it, but just went to the local general store and bought water bottles. Only other complaint was that the windows really needed washing- lots of cobwebs and spiders... it's such a beautiful view, that took away from it a bit. The inside of the cabin was spotless, though... I would definitely stay here again.
Really enjoyed our stay, especially the view, the beach, and all the outdoor activities in the area as well as spending time in and around the city of Marquette, its parks/harbors/waterfront and Northern Michigan University.
We had a great stay at the Eh-Frame Cottage in Big Bay, Mi. Ryan has put a great deal of thought and effort into his renovation of the cottage. From booking to checkout, Ryan was always readily available to answer any questions or issues we had. It is refreshing to stay at a property whose owners take care of the cottage the same whether they are staying or hosting guests. We enjoyed coffee on the back deck in the mornings, rode our side by sides during the day, and ended evenings with a kayak ride in the pristine lake. The setup of kayaks and fire ring by the lake are a perfect combination for a relaxing evening.
We look forward to a future stay when even more renovations are complete.
Thank you Ryan for such an enjoyable stay!
Exactly as advertised and owner was very attentive to any ideas and desires! Thank you, Ryan.

Nice cottage off the beaten path
I was a little disappointed with location of this cottage it showed its location address in a different location, but had to have the owner send us a latitude/longitude pin to actually find the cottage. We came up to do some fishing on the lake, but could not dock our boat to his property do to very shallow waters where this cottage is located. The cottage has a nice layout with 2 different sitting areas. The only disappointing thing was the refrigerator was not clean, otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
Ryan has done an amazing job with this remodel. He has included everything but the food in this place. We hardly wanted to leave - so we just hiked near Marquette and enjoyed the evenings by the lake. Met some friendly people on the lake while paddle boarding (we had our own). Learned the history of Henry Ford in that area, the anatomy of a murder movie, snd the Brunswick factory. Very cool area. We likely had a baby moose on the lake near us the first night. Wish we had seen it only heard it’s call. It was me and my 3 teens and we just loved every minute. Thank you again Ryan!
This house was beautiful and the area was amazing. It’s a bit far from everything and the local store didn’t have much we needed. The only thing I could have used was a washing machine but overall we had an amazing time.
This cabin was so clean and comfortable and I have never stayed in a more stocked vrbo. The owners really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we could possibly need. I would recommend this for families who want to enjoy the beautiful UP.
This house is very nice and tastefully decorated. The location is perfect, right on the lake. The water was pleasantly warm and the kids had a lot of fun. The owner was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay!

About the host
Hosted by Ryan
My name is Ryan Walker. I am from Nashville Tn and I recently relocated to Marquette Michigan. I purchased this cabin in 2018 from the original family who built it in the 50s and have been in the process of giving it a facelift. Once I was finished I took a year to enjoy it myself before deciding that it would be selfish of me to keep it all to myself. Hopefully this will be the first of many rentals that I have in the Big Bay area.
Why they chose this property
This property has everything you could ask for in a lake home. The cabin has such a welcoming feeling and the lake is always just the right temperature for lounging in a raft. You can fill your day with a variety of fun activities, like fishing, hiking, kayaking, or just relaxing in a hammock to the sound of the waves on the sand beach. The lake has almost zero boat traffic making this an incredibly private destination that’s perfect for a romantic getaway or just a good place to unplug from the usual day to day.
What makes this property unique
This cabin is split into two separate living spaces. The bedrooms, loft and a living space are separated from the kitchen and another living area by an insulated door. This provides a great amount of privacy for those that prefer to sleep in or if you have small children who need those few extra minutes of their afternoon nap.
