Dilapidated place

There were many things that surprised me about this rental! The outdoor furniture was unsafe and I tried to sit in a dilapidated chair and had to get up quickly because it was cracked and breaking! The fire pit was on a hill and we kept sliding down! I expected an adequate place for the price we paid and it fell quite short! I have used VRBO many times in the past and am quite surprised by this rental! It was not up to the standards I would expect! The inside of the house was dilapidated, also! If you touched the kitchen table while sitting at it, it felt like it would collapse! I tightened some of the screws on the table, but the bolts were stripped! The couches were old and torn up under the faux fur blanket! We pulled out the couch to sweep and an inch of dust and grime was under it! I was in my socks on the floor and they were dirty! The floors were very nice, just not clean! There weren’t a lot of supplies to cook with so we didn’t! The towel rack in the bathroom fell off the wall when I tried to use it! It was truly a bare bones rental! The biggest problem, though, was that another rental was attached and there were about ten men staying there! They partied with noise and drinking! When I messaged Kristy on Friday it settled down about 2 am! On Saturday it kept up all night! They were outside on a porch right outside my window! We didn’t sleep well! Taking the trash out with us proved to be ridiculous! The trash places (we went to both) were closed so we had to carry the trash around in our car! We got rid of some of it at a gas station, but had to be inconspicuous! It felt very ghetto! I do have to blame myself for not checking out the comments from previous Tenants before I rented this one! I am doing this review mostly to make sure that the next people have a nicer place! For the price we paid, I could have gotten two very nice hotel rooms! I wanted a rental so we could be together! I was quite disappointed in this rental!

Bare but comfortable

The condo offers lots of space and privacy. It is within a 20-minute drive to the north entrance of Shenandoah National Park and the town of Front Royal. Our dogs loved the open space. The rooms are large and there is ample room, but it lacks some bare necessities to make it a great stay. If water pressure is your thing, this place has a terrific spray in the shower. If you're using the space as a pit stop from the trails then the absence of a TV may not be an issue. The lack of a fully working stove or some basic kitchen tools - like a spatula - will burden some cooks. Coming from out of state, the concept of transporting our trash from the residence to an offsite facility 15 minutes away was surprising. They're closed on Wednesdays (our departure day), so plan accordingly. (We were not aware.)

Front Royal Cottage Stay

We arrived on Sunday night and the place looked great but throughout the week there were a few inconveniences that arose. On the 4 burner stove, the biggest burner did not work so we were having to move the pan around the burner to cook food. The kitchen does have pots and pans but no spices, regular condiments or sprays. There is also not any forms of entertainment in the place, so there was not a TV or games or puzzles. By the end of our two week stay there were ladybugs and stinkbugs all over the vents, but it is a mountain rental so some small amount are expected. The bathroom was in good working order but the sink and toilet were quite small for two adults. The road in was nice and just had a small dirt segment that any car could do. The cottage is in the back of the property behind another rental, but we didn’t have any problems with noise. Also, the location was great and it had nice woods views. Overall, it was a good stay and the host was very nice and responsive but there were just a few minor things of note.
