Great spot on Burntside lake!

Was so nice to be in Burntside Lake for 5 days - great that we had access to a swimming dock and kayaks and canoe. Had all the amenities we were looking for. Glad it was just the 3 of us in the main cabin. Did not appreciate the impromptu visit by owner (even though the intention was good I’m sure). Hope you all have as much fun as we did.

Wonderful Week!

My wife/I + our labs stayed at this property for 6-days. Everything about our experience was top-notch. The special greeting touches Buck/Linda presented were very thoughtful and meant a lot. The property is almost like a mini campus in the woods. Very well kept and clean. Everything you need to cook and relax is available. The view from the A-frame + deck is incredible. Close to the water and plenty of space for the dogs to enjoy dock-jumping and swimming. Good fishing lake too. Overall, we highly recommend this property. Great experience!!

Great place and hospitality

We've been looking forward to our return to A Summer Place for many months. Everything went great - swimming, boating, relaxing, kayaking, wildlife viewing, eating... in and out to town for Fourth of July festivities, shopping, visiting family and touring. The sauna is fantastic as are the following jumps in the lake! Nice job with the new driveway turnaround which worked no problem for my boat trailer. Buck made sure we comfortable and ran down to help the girls who caught a fish off the dock and were screaming about it while we were out of earshot. Thanks for everything - hope to see you again!

100% Excellent Stay

It's a unique A-frame home of course, with fun and comfortable furnishings. Plenty of room for four of us and some visitors. We did use the AC one day when the temps got near 90 and it's a good system. The water front is the main attraction and it is excellent. Pristine water, easy to access, nice beach for launching the kayaks and the dock for jumping in, mooring the boat and relaxing on. Buck came over and lit the sauna for us - it's a hot one! We got to talk a little and learn about their place's history which was nice. No complaints, but if you're bringing a trailer down the driveway you better know what you're doing - no where to turn around really. Instead, you could launch the boat and leave the trailer elsewhere. We won't be looking for a different place to stay in Ely unless this place is booked. Can't wait to come back!

Doesn’t get better than this!

Our group of two couples and a dog had a fabulous vacation at A Summer Place. The cabin was spic and span clean with thoughtful extras left for us, like fresh pine balms and a goodies basket. Buck and Roxanne are right next door and gave us a nice welcome and tour of the property, including the kayaks and canoe. The cabin is comfortable and beautifully furnished. The cooks in our group were especially impressed with how well outfitted the kitchen was. But the star of the show is Burntside Lake. It is absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend staying at A Summer Place. We loved it!

Sisters weekend at Beautiful Burntside lake, priceless!!

I have for years wanted to see the lake I had heard so much about. I looked up properties and this one caught my eye so I booked. The pictures sold it but I must tell you pictures could not do this piece of heaven justice. The cabin is simply amazing with its variety of sleeping options - upstairs/down/cozy room off sauna/ cozy room off laundry. The surrounds are so peaceful and beautiful you think you are the only ones there. The owners are a bonus with their bending over backwards to meet your needs. Me and my 3 sisters made many many wonderful family memories and would recommend to any and all. A true bucket list experience. Thanks Buck, Roxanne and Linda😊✌️

Great spot.

Five friends gathered for 5 nights. Next best thing to a paddle in the BWCA. Great outdoor deck and screen porch for hanging out. Plenty of sleeping spaces to spread out. Quiet end of lake. Loons calling. Sauna. Dock. Swims. Hosts are excellent.

Diamond in the Northwoods of Minnesota!

Let me start off by saying, Buck and Linda are absolutely fantastic hosts! They go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible. It is truly “Dream A-Frame Cabin on Burntside Lake”! It is extremely clean and well stocked. The grounds around the cabin are taken care of meticulously and the huge deck in the front of the cabin that overlooks the lake is stunning. The screened-in gazebo porch is an absolute game changer (especially battling the mosquitos and black flies this time of year). We have two younger boys (4 of us total) and were extremely comfortable with the space. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to make any meal. The location provides you the option to be able to go to town if needed, but also the serenity to be able to stay in the woods during your entire stay. We will be customers of Buck and Linda for a very long time and can’t wait until we head up next year. A++ in my book!

Charming cabin in a perfect location

We had a perfect trip to the BWCA. The location was absolutely perfect--not too far from town (but far enough) and close to excellent hiking and portaging adventures. The cabin had everything we could hope for and sitting on the deck over the lake was to die for. Very charming cabin and very accommodating and helpful hosts. Will definitely go again.

Wonderful cabin!

This is a fantastic property! The views are amazing and the two docks were great for our fishing boat and using the canoes and kayaks that are provided. The deck is spacious with a great view and the screened gazebo is perfect anytime but especially in the evenings when the mosquitos are out. The hosts have thought of every detail - from a nice welcome basket and a well-stocked kitchen to beautiful potted flowers outside and cozy northwoods decor inside. Everything is clean and well-stocked. Make sure you take advantage of the sauna and jump into the lake afterwards - it is so refreshing! We especially appreciated the hospitality of Buck and Linda, who were such accommodating and friendly hosts. We can't wait to go back!

Great outdoor living!

The decks in the front and rear of the house, and seating on the dock, were lovely, but the screen house was the prize, as the gnats and mosquitos were very active the week we were there. Fishing was fairly good - mainly bass in the evenings, and some large northern. The house was well stocked with essentials. A lovely week, we were not ready to leave when our time was up.

Took our tritoon and 4 adult children.

The cabin and outbuildings are great. We really appreciated the fishing cleaning outbuilding. The dock was super nice for docking our tritoon. The lake is absolutely beautiful. The fishing on Burntside Lake is not great, but our son did catch two really nice lake trout. It was early June and the water was still high so we were able to take the Dead River to the Twin Lakes. Bass, crappie and bluegill fishing was great in the Twins. There is also a portage on the north branch of Burntside (near the cabin) that we used to carry a canoe into the Twins. Overall it was a very nice stay and the owners were extremely hospitable to whatever we needed.

Amazing Getaway!

We booked the cabin for some friends to get out of the cities and spend some time on the lake fishing. The A Frame cabin was super cool and clean. Deck was awesome with peaceful lake views, great for morning coffee. Really cool lake to explore, not very busy when we were there. The screened in porch was clutch to get away from the bugs. Hosts were phenomenal and very accommodating. Highly recommend!!

Dream A-Frame exceeded expectations

My friends and I couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Dream A-Frame on Burntside. It was great having the screened gazebo being able to be outside and not worry about mosquitoes. The cabin was comfortable and very well stocked. The sauna was great. I have stayed at many nice VRBO properties but Buck and Linda are by far the most hospitable hosts I have met. They went out of their way, without being intrusive, to make sure that we had a great stay. 5 stars doesn't say enough about how good a stay we had. Highly recommend the Dream A-Frame.

Wooded Retreat

Our experience was great for our three night stay. The cabin was very well furnished with the kitchen being well stock with dishes, silverware and cooking utensils and the needed pots and pans. It is an older cabin, but very well maintained with wonderful deck and screened in gazebo. One bedroom is in a separate, but close by building that also contains the sauna in a separate room. The location is obviously on the lake, but also close to many hiking trails. Since our trip was after Labor Day the lake was very quiet with few boats to disturb the peace. A great getaway to replace our canceled BWCA canoe trip this fall due to the fire danger.

Outstanding Summer Place

My fiancé and I and her parents spent 5 days in the BWCA and we were looking for a way to extend our “Up North” vacation. We had planned our BWCA trip well in advance, but renting a cabin for right after the trip was more of an afterthought, as we only booked it about a month or so in advance. Although we were only a month out in booking, there were still other available options in Ely, Winton, Shagawa Lake, and Vermillion. We chose this property for a number of reasons; the location and the photos gave us a good feeling, and we felt that the pricing, which was competitive with all the other available properties, afforded us better value in terms of amenities and space. Upon arrival, we were definitely not disappointed. I was astounded at how beautiful the property is, both scenically and in terms of decor and upkeep, both inside and out. Even better than the pictures! I noticed that the property has a campus feel to it. The gorgeous main A-frame, which came fully stocked with everything we needed, is flanked by a smaller outbuilding with a washer and dryer in it. Just a short walk to the north is a guest bunk house, which also houses the Sauna. Of concern for us was a restroom facility for whomever would stay in the bunk house, however, we found that a clean, tastefully done outhouse is located immediately next to the bunk house (we were very impressed). Lastly, as we walked through the main A-frame, we came to a beautiful deck overlooking the lake with a top notch patio set and a gazebo which is adjoined by the deck. We had no problems whatsoever with meal prep, food storage, or sleeping arrangements. They have a state of the art propane grill that runs perfectly, which we put to good use. We ate our breakfasts on the deck and dinners in the gazebo, followed by evening beverages in which we could listen to the loons and nature sounds of the lake before retiring. You will also have your choice of two docks going to the lake. We made particular use of their nice new dock for reading/lounging and swimming. They have kayaks and a canoe available onsite (we were all canoed out after paddling into gusty winds for three straight days in BWCA). We even had a chance to meet the owners who are some of the most friendly, accommodating, and down to earth folks, who shared both our enthusiasm for the area and sense of adventure. We had great discussions with them. This is a true family enterprise, we loved our stay, and I can’t recommend it enough!!

Amazing Family Experience!

Thank you! We had an amazing family getaway at your cabin. When we arrived (late at night) the lights along the path were on, and Buck (who knew we would be arriving later) had turned on lights in the cabin for our arrival - making it less difficult to maneuver and find things! The cabin was very quaint, comfortable and offered tremendous lake views. The deck off the cabin over-looking the lake was a wonderful place for family meals. We utilized the canoes, the kayaks *(lots of kayaking), the screened in porch - for board games - and had the sauna set up for us by Buck. If your thinking about a secluded get-away on a quiet lake - with all the amenities - this is the place. It is definitely a hidden gem, and we couldn't be more happier that we chose this for our family vacation. What an experience, Thank you Buck, Linda and Roxanne.

Excellent Location and Incredible Hospitality

This property is beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed the amazing views from the spacious deck and gazebo. The dock on the left as you're looking at the lake has been replaced with an incredible new dock complete with stairs into the water, a bench, and additional chairs. Buck and Linda (owners) are great, and really went above and beyond to make sure that we had a good stay! Ely had a bad storm the day that we arrived, resulting in widespread power outages. The cabin is equipped with flashlights and multiple battery operated lanterns (that even charge cell phones!) Buck and Linda went out of their way to make sure we had anything else that we might need. We would certainly recommend this VRBO property and hope to return!

We couldn’t recommend this cabin more highly. Communication from start to finish was excellent. The cabin is perfect, the lake is breath taking and the amenities were everything you could ask for. We loved the sauna, the gazebo, the loons and the fishing. We enjoyed kayaking and canoeing on beautiful Burntside, and the many hiking opportunities. Perfect vacation rental!

We have been vacationing on this lake every summer for years with my family. My sister & I own the property and are opening up our north woods retreat for rental. We love and respect nature by maintaining the pristine lake and forest for our children and grandchildren.

Why they chose this property

My grandmother started vacationing on the North Arm of Burntside Lake in the 1930's and my family has been coming here ever since. We love escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and recharging our batteries in the Northwoods.

What makes this property unique

Extremely private lakefront property on Burntside Lake - a Top 10 lake in the entire state of Minnesota. A true off the grid vacation home perfect for reconnecting with your family. Enjoy an authentic Swedish wood burning sauna the old fashioned way (see property rules) and jump into cool deep water lake. Go fishing or swimming right off the docks or small sand beach. Explore the over 5000 acre lake by canoeing (included) or kayaking (included) to one of the 100's of uninhabited islands for a picnic lunch. A sandy beach is just a 2 min boat ride or kayak ride away from the cabin! Bring your own motor boat and launch it just 2 min from the cabin. (within hundreds of yards by the Slim Lake portage)

Our A-Frame is a rare opportunity to stay in a classic cabin with no neighbors in sight. Why camp in the Boundary Waters when you can stay here (with a hot shower & full kitchen with high speed internet and HVAC?) and be in Ely in 30 minutes?
