Family Vacation

The property and house were both amazing. The only problem was, in order to use the community ammenities, you needed to drive to them or hike up and down a literal mountain. That was not clear in the listing.

Wrong property in pictures

In early October there was something wrong with the property in the picture. Property manager Ms. Morris changed us to another property. It was nice but it was not this property. Will be glad to review the correct property. Please don't count this review toward this property!

The views!

No disappointment when it came to the porch views! They are stunningly amazing...and what a relief we received from the heat on the coast of SC! We must however, remark on the kitchen. Because we like to enjoy the grill and the joys of housing a large family, the kitchen is important to us. We found it a bit ill equipped and the condition of the stove left a great deal to be desired. The silverware, although plentiful, was low grade and would not hold up to to a simple task of holding a steak with a fork to cut our very tender ribeyes we cooked on the grill. Please allow me to add that our host was more than accommodating and always available to answer questions or concerns. He was exemplary! Thank you for sharing your home with us...we hope these comments are helpful.

Great while there, But...

The property was great and the management very responsive while there. But 4 months later and the deposit has yet to be refunded after being reassured he was going to get on it after 1 month. Since August 1st it's been radio silence.

Enjoying the Great Outdoors!

This “cabin” is the perfect place to get away from the city. It’s 4 floors of rustic atmosphere, forest full of deer, quiet and charming. We had lots of rain but did get in some pool time. Spent time exploring Brevard mountains and Asheville city which are within 45 minutes or so. The restaurant at the Ski Lodge was a little hidden gem which we discovered on our last evening and they deliver! We enjoyed getting to grill steaks on the gas grill on the main level. Lots of stairs but main entrance level was easy. The only bathroom on that level is in the master but since we were all family, we didn’t mind sharing. The tub/shower does need to have dripping fixed. Kitchen needs some work, especially stove. Nice to have a washer and dryer! Workout room has some free weights, elliptical worked with batteries, which we got. Didn’t use the sauna. The Driveway by the garage could use some gravel as all the rain made it very muddy. Be prepared for windy, narrow drive to the house. We enjoyed spending quality time there with our family!

Not what I expected

The property is more rustic than I expected. Issues: The weeds around the property are 4 feet high, the path behind the property leading to the golf course is all overgrown. The detached deck near the golf course is in great disrepair and full of junk, no chairs, it is unusable. The cabin does not have 4 king beds as listed. The bathrooms and the kitchen were not clean. The bathroom had old torn shower curtain with tons of soap scum and mildew. The second floor tub faucet is broken, useable but had a heavy trickle 24/7. Fire pit is on the deck between the garage and the house right outside the cabin door, must keep the door closed to prevent filling the house with smoke. People going in and out for drinks allowed a lot of smoke in. Grill was rusted out but the property manager quickly brought a new one, he was very helpful. Would have told him about the broken faucet but we had not showered yet, didn't want to bring him back out for the small repair that can be handled between rentals as not to disturb the guests. Cabin has one smaller apartment style fridge, you will need a cooler during the warmer months. Home has two ice machines, there is a note that they do not work and are unplugged. Owners are not members of the country club so you are unable to use the Wolf Laurel club to golf. Nearest course is 45 min away. While children are permitted in the cabin the third floor great room balcony rail is very open and could potentially be unsafe for small children. Positives: Views are beautiful, property manager very helpful. Listing is very accurate of distance to local attractions. 4 rocking chairs on the second floor deck are enjoyable.

Outstanding mountain cabin

This is a great old school log mountain cabin with enough elevation it's cool in the evenings in the summer. Being old school, the kitchen and grill could use some attention, but it's functional. The host was attentive and responsive gets an 5 star rating for his serive.
